Let me be clear: you can ask him to participate in a wellness program as a part of living at home just like you might ask him to hold a job or attend classes, but you in no way should be monitoring his every bite of food or even attending doctors appointments with him. It sounds to me like you should spend more time on…

I agree with @newmeadow Rule out anything that may contribute to that 'strung out' look and may be happening right under your nose... I understand he's an adult at 19 but if he lives in your home he is still financially a dependent. That means house rules are set by the people paying the bills. House rules should include…

Beautiful transformation! I hear the last few pounds are very vexing. You've worked so hard for so long. I, personally, would take a maintenance break with my eating whilst still working out hard, then try to shift a few pounds at a time through short term cuts. Long term open ended deficit eating is a form of low grade…

The sooner you abandon these kinds of comparisons, the happier you will be with your own progress. The sooner you give up 'pie in the sky' expectations, the more clearly you will be able to appreciate the very real & tangible rewards of your weight loss.

I would take the advice of anyone running a weight loss clinic for profit with a grain of salt. Sure s/he has described ONE way to lose a little weight, but there are others. You could go for a less aggressive deficit and shift the weight over a longer spell of time. I don't know if you have other health concerns. I've…

I did lose that much in that time frame, but this isn't a drive thru window... You can't expect to whiz thru & order up your weight loss. Bodies are somewhat subtle & inscrutable that way. Loss is rarely 100% linear. It's great to have goals, don't get me wrong! Just match your goals to the proper outlets, eg 'in six…

I practice 80/20 thinking too. And I'm not terribly good at. Let's say my 80/20 is probably closer to 66.66/33.33... Hahaha! The issue for me comes down to adequate nutrition. When I'm going to stay within my calorie range, I know I'll be miserable & prone to cravings if I haven't gotten the proper nutrients. So at least…

I don't know what 'people' you're listening to, but you need to find replacements! Or perhaps become a better listener. LOL Yes, exercise is not necessary for weight loss. And yes, unlimited free eating simply because one exercised will kill your potential deficit and impede weight loss or even result in gain. But where…

Yes! I love to walk so greatly anticipating longer days...

Also if you are eating low carb your alcohol tolerance will lower. Learned this the hard way during a brief flirtation with paleo eating. :-/

Weight loss is never linear. It sounds like you're off to a good start. Is your diary open? You might want to show it to some of the experienced loggers here. If you are not weighing all your food servings or if you've been using those 'quick adds' bear in mind that your deficits might not be as big as you imagine. But my…

As long as I'm at work or home, I'm fine. Drink a beer or a glass of wine. Eat a little bit larger portion of protein than usual. Hot breakfast only on Sunday's. But parties... Gah! I start noshing the foods and sloshing the drinks and it's hard to get my cows back in the barn, ya know? Went to an Oscar viewing party last…

I'm 53, 5'6", and I've been every weight between 100 and 200 lbs as an adult... wow, huh? When I was under 25 I was just struggling to gain & resume menses after a teenage bout of anorexia athletica. Despite a lot of wheel spinning that way, I wasn't very strong at all. I finally weighed about 124 lbs age 26 when I got…

What a terrific, well written post! Thank you! I started mid August and yes, it's been anything but linear! But I just keep plugging away. xoxo

I have had to learn to 'layer' my proteins. It's never a one & done process for me. Yesterday I had cottage cheese, a hummus sandwich studded with shelled edemame, 7 nut butter on celery, homemade split pea soup with ham, and sunflower studded whole grain bread with brie. All contributed to my 86 grams. That was on the low…

Okay. I'm a sicko. I love frozen banana 'ice cream' because banana is one of my favorite ice cream flavors & it is often not banana-y enough. Problem solved! But my bags of frozen banana chunks are pre measured between 3.6-4.0 ounces and I don't add anything else so a 4 oz serving is about 100 calories, fits in one of…

Colorful carrots! Kumato brown tomatoes! Persian cucumbers! Micro greens! Chicken Italian or breakfast sausages! Eggplant or Mediterranean hummus!

I love my vitamix and still use it almost daily. And I'm losing weight. ...Frozen banana 'ice cream' ...Protein shakes ...Soups ...Hummus ...Pesto ...Smooth out pasta sauce or enchilada sauce

Even in the most optimal circumstances, weight loss is usually not 100% linear (which is why I bite my tongue & silently leave those 'let's all lose 50 lbs in 25 weeks!' threads...) What you are describing sounds like resilience to me! And maybe you are even enjoying the process just a little? Both good traits that will…

Ugh. I am so sorry. Feel better soon...

Faces thin out with age. I am also fuller faced & it is youthful as one ages. So get contouring for the short term!

I agree with above. You are making progress, just not as quickly as you envisioned. Just stay the course and let the weight come off at this pace. You have your whole life to manage your weight! You only get one opportunity of about 12-24 months on average to nurse this precious baby. Enjoy! xoxo

Water weight fluctuations make it hard to ever know for certain. All I can tell you is I've never held on to any vacation 'gain' after I've been home & back to my regular routine the same number of days. So a long weekend spike pretty much disappears that following work week; a two or three week cruise would take that long…

If you're a reader, get a copy of Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Persig. It's a classic from the 1970's. I love his description of the Romantic vs the Classicist on bikes. The romantic just idealizes the act of riding the bike with the wind blowing against their face, but the classicist understands how…

Oh I'm sorry. I don't have the inner resources for treadmill! If I absolutely had to do it I would need either TV/movies, or move it outside to a porch or something.

I'm all about the full fat. Try wallaby organic whole milk Greek yogurt. It is amazing! And clover organic whole milk cottage cheese.

I agree. Create some custom entries for her foods thru trial & error, and otherwise enjoy. The food sounds amazing & her contribution to your children's overall quality of life is no doubt huge! Your problem is a good one. You can figure it out!

Gross. Don't do it. Side effects won't be worth it. Plus, you can't take something like this forever. When you go off the drug you'll be apt to gain back even more, just making your next attempt at weight loss even harder.
