I add mine to cold water, bring to a boil and boil for 3 min. Remove from heat and cover for 12 min. Then into an ice bath or cold water for a few min, then crack on fat end where the pocket is.

Feel free to add me. I am up 10 lbs after being off for a few months. I tried to cut out sweet drinks and had no breakfast the last two weeks just to kick start, more veggies. I haven't budged. I really don't want to weigh all my food again but I will start in a few days if I don't see some progress. I'm at 207, trying to…

Thank you, thank you! That will help. Do people just keep meals simple or is it common to be making more than one multiple item dish? It just seemed to take a while. I have gotten used to weighing my personal meals, like a single serving of oatmeal or an apple but this really wore me out.

Usually, oatmeal with a half cup unsweetened cocunut milk and blue berries or two scrambled eggs (no added butter or oil) with a side of strawberries or black berries. Occasionally I will have a side of dry wheat toast with the eggs. Anywhere between 175 and 230ish cals. Today I had a pig in a blanket (Eckridge breakfast…

This is true for me as well. OP...Have you tried unsweetened vanilla coconut milk in your coffee? I don't have to have coffee but it does help to kill an afternoon craving for something I really don't want to spend cals on. It's only 45 cals a cup, so I usually only end up with 20 cals worth in my cup.

Thank you for the suggestions. Yes, it's Tex-Mex. I have children from Guatemala, so I am familiar with true Hispanic and Mayan dishes. Some good suggestions here but their menu isn't too broad. I haven't seen a lot of what has been suggested. They don't have a chicken and vegetable or chicken tortilla soup, which is a…

Lots of good info here. Thank you all! I think I was making it harder than need be. Using a previous entry, especially breakfast, lunch, and snacks since I mostly eat the same things, and suggested servings sizes in the database and adjusting for any differences sounds doable. I think I just had it in my head that…

Any tips on prelogging when using the food scale?

Peanut butter and banana sandwhich or wraps with meat, cheese, and veggies in them. Cheese sticks, bags of nuts, nut bars with fruit and chocolate. Easy to walk with to the gym.

Oh yeah, I am drinking un-sweet when I am out and just really want something other than water. I have a plan to have a Sangria on Sunday unless I look it up and decide it's not worth it. I very rarely drink so that isn't really a big deal for me.
-
Thank you. I finally feel like I am not stuggling to resist sweet drinks and treats that were causing me to gain. Such a good feeling to have a handle on it.

Thank you both.

^^^Sorry, don't know why your quote didn't display.

Me too...on both. Although, I can't say I have completely eliminated but having none for now. I have had one Coke since I started and asked them when they brought it not to refill it.

Oh the possibilities ☺

tiffkittyw- I am wondering if I should try banking some calories for the weekend. I don't usually carry cals over to the next day. So if you are set at 1200, can you change it for the weekend? Or do you pay it no mind for the weekend and just have another goal in mind?
-
[[/quote]I'm sure my calorie goal is way higher than yours, but that just means you eat smaller portions or leave out a side or two and get some the next time. I ate at 1700 for a while and 1600 for one ill-fated week. I'm not a small person, so that was probably relatively comparable to someone smaller with a lower…

I love those foods but if I had them all in one day, it would be hard for me not to go over my cals. What is your daily goal? I did recently learn that our local BBQ shop will cut the brisket lean.

Also, the last time I was on MFP, I rarely ever saw a post with someone talking about a food scale. I know it works fantastic for those who use it but I don't think it is necessary for those who choose to learn what appropriate portions are and have a good understanding of what is in their food. I eat very simply most of…

I get it. Food portions is typically not my issue. Coke and sweet tea and occasional very high calorie treats like fried pie were. I have had to nurse two extremely allergic babies back to back and was food restricted, so made up for it by drinking a lot of soda and sweet tea, which is something I have not done in the…

I know what you mean. I will probably never have banana nut loaf from Starbucks again and it is seriously good bread but knowing what it would cost me, not worth it. Maybe in maintenance but it would be like a whole lunch or dinner for me now.

Thank you. I understand about TDEE. I just don't think I will or want to keep up with the food scale for long term and I am trying not to start any habits that I am not willing to keep up. I have not had issue with losing in the past or keeping it off but gaining during pregnancy and postpartum have been an issue this time…

Thanks for all the tips and perspective. I am set to 1lb a week. I get 1570 cals for that. I do not weigh foods yet, just measure, so not 100% accurate. For that reason, I am not eating back step based calories right now. The last couple of times, I knew nothing of the food scale for weight loss and just went by MFP…

Looking at your diary, I may need to excercise to get more calories for more options. I just haven't been able to pick that back up yet with two infants.

I think compared to a lot of people, I naturally don't eat a ton if carbs due to preference. For the most part, the majority of my carbs come from sweet potatoes and oatmeal. But I do like occasional pizza or chips or corn tortillas with mexican food or a soda. I rarely eat bread or white potatoes. My carbs are usually 50…

Thank you for the info!

I should have paid better attention. Thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering why I was just now getting it. I just got the fitbit a little over a week ago. Good to know. I just want to make sure I am not missing anything because the whole net cals and eating back cals is new to me.
