  • Protein in the morning is a good way to satisfy hunger - an egg, low sugar Greek yogurt (I like the Oikos Triple Zero, half a whole wheat English muffin with 1tbs. natural peanut butter), etc. I sometimes find that I'm starving mid morning, especially if I don't have any protein for breakfast, so I keep a couple of cans of…
  • Thanks for all of your great comments. I am determined to not gain back the weight and to lose the additional pounds that I need to. I do weigh my food (I have a scale, measuring spoons, measuring cups, etc.) both at work and at home - but if I look at things objectively, I am not being as careful as I was when I started…
  • Congrats and good for you!! I have also done the endless diet route, gain and lose thing. Last fall I opted to change my lifestyle instead, experienced success and have not looked back. You've picked the best plan, so go for it. Don't let small setbacks trip you up, keep your eyes on the end goal and live your life to the…
  • Thanks for your comments. Actually, you may be right about the slightly slacking off part, although I do log every day. The biggest reason I started eating back half of my exercise calories was that I found that if I didn't, I was not losing any weight at all. Once I upped the calories I consumed by a few hundred a day I…
  • I can sympathize. There is always a lot of extra food at my office (meals for meetings, left-overs from meetings, donuts or bagels for Fridays, co-workers' candy dishes, etc.). Not to mention that we have free soda/juice in all the refrigerators, as well as soda fountain dispensers. I deal with this calorie sabotage by…
  • If you're doing all of the things that usually work for you (i.e. logging food, exercise, drinking water, etc.), I'd stay off the scales for a few days. Weighing yourself is addictive and there are a lot of factors that can influence weight loss. Pick a day of the week for weighing in and make yourself NOT weigh in every…
  • My furry friends require a BIG commitment of time and energy (which is a good thing). :)
  • Brush my teeth. That does help. However, I keep a can of low sodium, low fat chicken noodle soup in my desk and I use it freely (it still has a fair amount of sodium, but the benefits outweigh the negatives). The warm broth and the noodles help satisfy a lot of food cravings.
