  • That is awesome! You remind me that we can remain active no matter our age. 👍😎
  • I do the same thing. Works great for casseroles and stews and dishes like that. Just weigh your daily portion and enter it. When I meal prep, I weigh the portions and write the weight on some blue painter's tape on the container before I place them in the freezer. Then just grab them and go when I need to take lunch with…
  • Welcome to all the new members in this thread. It's hard to get started on losing weight and bettering your health. I found the support and logging here were very helpful. Kept me on track when things got tough. Working on losing the last 10-15 pounds now. Add me as a friend if you like. Always happy to share support and…
  • @Teresa - it is the dog days, no doubt. The funny part - my dog doesn't care - she wants to go for a walk, every day, regardless of the heat. We have been starting late in the evening and finishing in the dark. I'm lucky to live in an area where it is safe to walk after dark. It should start to cool off next week. YAY!
  • Hey hey hey! Just checking in. Where is everybody? ❓🙋‍♂️
  • Excellent work, @AllPositive1. It's always encouraging when you can see that your efforts are paying off. Keep it up.👍
  • Greetings, y'all! Planning a long walk with the dog today. Have an awesome weekend!
  • I ask for a note, but sometimes accept FR's without a note, anyway. I do vet them, though. A lot of folks are new to MFP and are not aware that messages are an option. I prune my friends list periodically, too. I remove the inactive folks or those who never interact with me.
  • Welcome to all the new folks here! 👋 Today was six days in a row with my "true weight" (rolling average) below 190. Just barely below, but I'll take it. Feels good. Now to stay there long term. Thanks to all of you for your inspiration and for sharing your struggles. Good to know I am not alone.
  • Ribeye steak here. They taste great, but they are fatty. An occasional indulgence when I'm tired of eating tuna and chicken.
  • Engaging the core is working the muscles in the torso. The abdominals and obliques and the lower back muscles. The muscles you use to hold your torso rigid when doing planks and pushups and such.
  • Greetings to all the new participants in this thread. I have found this website frustrating at times, but the friendly support and positive encouragement keeps me coming back. Add me as a friend if you like. I check in here most days.
  • Bacon skillet hash - breakfast for dinner. Thick sliced bacon chopped in small pieces - chopped yellow onion sauteed in some the bacon fat. Shredded baked potatoes. Scrambled eggs poured into the mixture. Sliced mini peppers and shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Personal experience - I found a diet break to be useful and a welcome respite. What works for one person may not work for another. Each of us has to find what works best for us.
  • Heard that. There are so many stories on MFP about losing and regaining weight. I have a couple of those myself. I will gladly weigh in every day and log my food and exercise. That's a small inconvenience, compared to doing all that hard work to lose weight again.
  • Happy Sunday, all! Doing some meal prep today. Made some salad dressings. Waiting on the steamed eggs to finish right now. A long hike with the dog later. Have an awesome day, my friends!
  • Love that attitude, Tony! I agree - the best compliment you can get - "You don't look that old". HAHA! :D
  • I read this and then realized I have been doing this a lot. A protein bar to start the day and a salad with a varied protein source for lunch. That gets me through to dinner which varies widely depending on who is cooking. It's working well for me.
  • A lot of things are harder to reach at level 80, Tony. HAHA!😁👍
  • A one day binge doesn't mean you have to start over. Just think of it as a treat day. I binge occasionally, but I just get back on track the next day and forget about it. You might try planning for some treats in your eating plan on a regular basis. I like chocolate, and there is usually some in the house. Most days I have…
  • Cracked up when I read your comment, Tony. And then flashed on this old Jerry Lee Lewis tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiGDlj4VbW4
  • You might need a diet break. Hormone levels can get out of whack during a long term calorie restriction. A diet break helps the body reset the hormone levels. A lot of people find the break mentally refreshing as well. See the link below - most of the relevant information is in the first two pages.…
  • Glad to report some progress with retrieves with Daisy. More good retrieves and very few chases. She seems to be grasping the concept that she will get more interaction if she returns the dummy to hand.
  • Agreed. That is certainly true, Nathalie. 😁
  • The heat wave is on in Idaho. Predicted 100+ for the next three days. Have not been walking much or working out, either. Just trying to maintain weight until this weather breaks. Stay cool, everyone! B)
  • To add friends on MFP: (using the computer app) 1) Click on the username in the left sidebar. A window showing the username will open. 2) Click on the username again. The user's profile will open. 3) Click on the "Add Friend" button on the user's profile page. There is an option to send a message along with the request.…
  • I had the same thought when I read your post, Bob. 1100 calories a day is extremely low. How did you arrive at that number as a target? I second getting a food scale if you are not already using one. Accuracy is important when you aiming for a low calorie target.
  • Just checkin' in, y'all. Big plans for the weekend - a two hour road trip to visit some dear friends who are in country from Japan for a few days. Gotta' see them before they return for another year in Japan. Was planning to visit them in Japan this winter, but the 'rona virus has thrown a big wrench in those plans. Maybe…
  • Color me a little envious. I miss living in the country. Enjoy the peace and quiet. Big plans for the weekend - let's see - a two hour road trip to visit some dear friends who are in country from Japan for a few days. Gotta' see them before they return for another year in Japan. Was planning to visit them in Japan this…
  • I feed some high-protein kibble from a local feed mill. Formulated for working dogs according to the label. Daisy's coat and skin looks good and she has more than enough energy. I usually feed the same type food consistently if it seems to be working well for the dog. I have seen digestive "issues" when/if their diet is…
