Love your spirit, Heidi! That's the attitude one needs to lose weight as a seasoned citizen!
-
Turns out that Daisy is currently a popular dog name. It was not my idea, but no matter. What's in a name, anyway?π
-
My sympathy, Chris. Hope your dog is pain free soon. I would have to sneak out of the house if I were to go walking without my dog.
-
Thank you, Jo! You're the aces! π I think I see my mistake.

Your post reminded me of this quote. HAHA! https://tenor.com/view/breakfast-secondbreakfast-lotr-peregrin-took-billy-boyd-gif-4522185 (Edited to add - I can't get a GIF to load in this thread. AARRGGHH!)

Hey, y'all. Just checking on a Tuesday. Nothing new here. I have got to get back to regular food and snack prep. Eating too much of whatever is at hand instead of what I need to drop these last few pounds.
-
Grilled a dry rubbed pork tenderloin on a griddle. Also baked some russets. Trying to cook outside to minimize heating up the house. I have a photo of the tenderloin - added it my news feed - but recalcitrant MFP won't load it here. I love this app. NOT.

Thanks, @VegjoyP. π Those homemade fig bars look delish!

Bumpity bump bump!

Hi, Claire. Welcome to the group. Bookmark this thread and keep checking in here. The mutual support and encouragement is the best feature of MFP. It helps me stay on track.

Okay. Fig Newtons are the best. Eat as many as you like. HAHA! π

Hey, y'all. Just checking in for the weekend. HOT HOT HOT in southwest Idaho. Trying to stay in the shade in the afternoons. Taking the dog for a walk late in the day. Blood donation in the early morning and some Flying Pie habanero pizza for a treat tomorrow. What's on your agenda for the weekend?

You're not old. You're seasoned. Experienced. Learned. Embrace it! I'm 66, and every day that I wake up and get both feet on the floor is a good day.
-
Thanks, @KeriA. I have been through some stalls, too, but I know I will reach my goal if I am diligent. @BobWillers - I weigh daily and track the numbers with the Libra app on my phone. Once you log for a few days, you will see that fluctuations are very normal. A weight gain is not failure. The important thing is theβ¦

For me, logging and weighing my food was critical. Like many people here, I had tried and failed to lose weight over the years. I had an MFP account for several years, but didn't use it. In 2017, I started a weight loss program and plateaued after losing about twenty pounds. I was talking to a friend who is a nurse andβ¦

Hey, y'all. Just checking in here. Been on and off the rails the last couple of weeks. Did a refocus yesterday to get to work on dropping the last 15 pounds or so. Been getting plenty of walking and hiking with the dog - Daisy does not understand the "rest day" concept. Probably a good thing. HAHA! :D

Emmylou Harris has done it for years. And check Instagram. Lots of ladies on there who have embraced their gray/silver hair. Look for tags like #silversisters. I like the natural look, personally.
-
You're in the right place, Bob. Almost everyone here has made numerous attempts to lose weight. More than I can count for myself. Figuring out a long term plan with sustainable life changes was the key for me. And the support and encouragement helped me a lot.
-
I'm working with Daisy on retrieving. Sometimes she wants to play "Chase me" instead of delivering the dummy to hand. You can't have a retriever who won't retrieve every time. HAHA! :D

YouTube is a great source of exercise routines and they have many that can be done while seated in a wheelchair. See if there is anything in this group that you can use.β¦

An MFP friend of mine just started a group for those of us whose dogs are fitness companions. You are welcome to join if you like. And anyone else who here walks or hikes with their dogs should join in, too. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/137756-dogs-companions-in-fitness

Daisy hanging out in the irrigation ditch on last evening's walk. "Hey, there's water over here, in case you didn't know that, boss!"

I drink pickle juice to combat cramps, but that is essentially another form of electrolytes, so that may not work for you. It does give me almost instant relief. Thanks for that tip, Barbie. Always have tonic water in the house for G&T's, so I will have to try that.

Gym workout this morning. Bench presses - goblet squats - stability ball pullovers - pushups. And daily walks with the dog. Every. Day. Daisy does not understand the "rest day" concept. HAHA! ππ

I've been using Frontline injections. Once a month treatment. So far, so good after two treatments. And staying out of the bush. I hate that part, because I like to hike in hilly areas with brush and tall grass. Unfortunately, that's where the ticks are.
-
Sounds like a good start. The main thing is to make lifestyle changes that are sustainable, as opposed to a "diet" to lose weight. Everything you listed can be done for the long term. You might find a food scale useful as time goes on. I weigh and log everything I eat most days.

Hi, Glenda! Love that expression on your dog's face. Good to see you here! πββοΈ

Hi, Rhonda! Good to see you and Merle here! πββοΈ
