"Come on in", she said. "And lock the door behind you."

Be careful in the gym, Kym! I have dropped plates on toes (just due to general klutziness). Hope you're back to lifting soon!

Best wishes for a successful surgery and a quick recovery, Mike!

Some of my best gym days have been the day after a carb loaded dinner. Maybe there is something to that carb loading theory.

Lots of good ideas here. I usually make a salad at home and add a protein source - tuna, leftover chicken, steak or ground beef or something similar. When I am on the run, I will grab a salad kit in a bag and a can of salmon or tuna. I like lots of volume so this my preference. Some folks mentioned meal prepping. Cook…

Lots of good info to help you get started in this post. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1

I think it's important to start with small steps. Log your food. Pre plan your meals. You don't have to exercise to lose weight, but many people find it beneficial for other reasons. Can you walk 10 minutes a day? I know it's hard. I have been working on my weight loss for 2+ years and I still struggle some days. I just…

Can you fix this for me? Yes, but you have to tell me how you broke it.

Thick sliced bacon. Potato pancakes (made from leftover garlic mashers) cooked in the bacon fat. A couple of eggs sunny side up. Happy belly now.

That's awesome, @RetiredAndLovingIt. I usually walk solo with my pup, but I do like the energy that comes from walking in a race.

Yeah. Thanksgiving is over. Here comes party season. My goal is to enjoy it while staying in Onederland. Cheers!

I find the encouragement from my friends here keeps me on track. Reading their success stories has made me realize that I can do this, too. That keeps me from getting discouraged and giving up.

Great news, Ali!

Good news, Ann. I'm aiming to maintain through the holidays and hit it hard again in the new year.

I have been able to limit my intake of store bought bread since starting this journey. But I don't know where that will power goes when I smell fresh baked sourdough bread. None of it makes it to the freezer at my house.

Smoked turkey breast here. That is the only dish I am responsible for (that and the shopping, which is already done.) I know there will be dressing made with my Mom's recipe, but I'm not a big dressing fan. Green beans and cranberries and garlic mashers are on my radar. Finish with some of my daughter's blackberry pie and…

Hi to all the new folks! Been a bit lax about checking in here and sticking to my program. Time to focus on working out more and eating less. I'm down about 10 pounds for the year, but I am not as stubborn as that last 15 pounds! HAHA! :D

Do you weigh daily, @iam_brandilei? I do that and it keeps from getting too far off track. I record the numbers in a weight trending app (Libra). I just accept the daily fluctuations but I know that I have to dial the calories back when the trend line starts pointing up.

I've used leftover baked or grilled salmon for sandwiches before. Never used smoked salmon, though - that sounds delicious! Thanks for that inspiration, @tootrudy.

Made a big batch of jambalaya in the slow cooker today. One of my winter favorites. Served over some riced cauliflower.

Did a 4 mile hike with the pup today along the Snake River. Could not keep her out of the water. She's sleeping now. HAHA!

Got it. I will try this in the future. Thank you, @just_Tomek.

I've cooked lots of russet potatoes on coals, but I always wrap them in foil. Does the skin burn or char deeply with this method?

Reading about all your great workouts is motivational. Thanks for the encouragement. It seems to be rubbing off on me. Deadlifts this morning. 3x5x240. More weight next time.

I have baffled a few youngsters on construction sites by pulling out a pencil and doing some old fashioned arithmetic on a notepad. I find their reactions amusing. HAHA! :D

It's all good, Lulu. Day to day life is full of blessings and misfortunes. I went off to the river for a few days. Knew I would gain some weight, but I needed some unplugged, off the grid time. Just reinforces my need for logging and mindful food intake. Back on the program today.

@Beeps2011 - Good on ya' for helping out your parents, even when they are uncooperative. Try to enjoy your time with them.

Heard that. Coming up on two years maintenance of a 45 pound loss. Now I know that if I am mindful of what I eat and log it all, I can keep it off forever.
