Drive by check-in today. Things are fairly calm at my house. The myeloma is dormant at present. Kathy is in a better mood most of the time, although she is still way more sedentary than she should be. The whiskey isn't helping either, but far be it from me to tell a dying woman how to live. I've been more sedentary, too. I…

That's living the good life, Suz. A tropical island, local food, adult beverages and you lost weight. Well done! 😎

I've always found your posts to be insightful, @ridiculous59. Barge away. I think your input is great. It's good to see lots of activity in this group.

Drive by check in. No significant changes here. My wife's myeloma is currently dormant. Maintaining my weight, although I'm not getting enough exercise. Perhaps I can get on a more regular schedule if things remain calm here.

So true, @ridiculous59. I've seen this myself. My wife was very sedentary for years. Even the myeloma diagnosis was not enough to get her doing some regular exercise/physical therapy. We're a year into this situation and she has lost most of her strength and muscle mass. She needs help to get out of bed or her recliner…

Sending positive thoughts your way, Mel. You will conquer this difficulty!

Congratulations! That is an awesome achievement. Glad to see that your efforts are paying off.

Drive by check-in. First the good news - met with the oncologist yesterday - blood markers are normal - myeloma is dormant at present. Kathy suggested we go out to her favorite diner for breakfast as a little celebration. And so we did. Now the bad news - I come home last night to find a glass of whiskey on Kathy's coffee…

Thanks, Karl. The oncologist ordered more lab tests on Monday, so we are still waiting on a prognosis. Kathy was very weak and unsteady when she woke up this morning. We loaded her in the car and my daughter took her to the ER. Waiting for news now. Its always something!

Drive by check in here. Kathy's health continues to deteriorate. We meet the new oncologist on Monday and will have the latest blood test results. Hoping for some positive news, but I'm prepared for anything. Keep up the good efforts, you beautiful seasoned citizens. You inspire me!

Drive-by check-in. My wife has contracted some sort of eye infection. At the emergency room to get this sorted out. It's always something. @coblujay - My condolences to you. 😞 Always hard saying goodbye to a friend. Good to see you all working on your goals. It gives me hope that I can get back on track when my crazy life…

Greetings, all. I was able to get a 4 day vacation over the weekend. Did wonders for my mood. We'll see how long that lasts. 🤞 Congrats to @MargaretYakoda, @BCLadybug888 and @swimmom_1 on your weight loss. 👏👏👏 No change in the situation with my wife. She has been sleeping a lot and taking a lot of pain meds. The good news…

Welcome, @Elwin5 You've come to the right place. Lots of seasoned citizens here. I tell people that the mutual support and encouragement is the best feature of MFP.

Just a drive by check in. I read this thread most days but don't post often. The pudding comment intrigued me, though. I have a full fat homemade vanilla ice cream recipe from my mom. It also calls for a box of vanilla pudding mix. I've made it several times - sometimes with pudding mix - sometimes without. I didn't notice…

See the thread below, It contains a chart listing foods and their protein content. Might give you some ideas for foods to add to your pantry. Regardless, I struggle, too, to get all the protein I should eat. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10244142/list-of-foods-with-highest-protein-calorie-percentage/p1

Thanks, all, for your kind words. @swimmom_1 - I can understand the need to try to control something when you feel like your life is out of control, but sometimes it is totally unreasonable. I'm not the most empathetic person on my best day, and the heightened tension just makes it harder to care. I just try to concentrate…

Just checking in. Riding that stupid emotional roller coaster with the wife. A lot of unnecessary drama that doesn't help anyone. Just causes more turmoil when calm is needed. Energy that could be used for caregiving is wasted on other issues. It's a struggle just to get through the day and night, sometimes. My hat is off…

@swimmom_1 - 20 miles on the elliptical. Wowsers! Awesome workout. You're like the Energizer Bunny!

Hope you all survive the festivities of yesterday and today without too much weight gain. I was up a bit today and will probably be up a bit more tomorrow. Beer and salty food has that effect. Totally worth it. I did not log any food yesterday afternoon. The bacon wrapped onion rings were a big hit. The nacho bar was wiped…

Tillamook makes some great cheese. The medium and sharp cheddar is great. Readily available where I live in Idaho. For a real treat, try their aged white cheddar. Aged two years. Runs $12-14 for a two pound brick and worth every penny. Combine it with some grapes and some good sourdough. I serve that sometimes as an…

Thanks for the kind words, all. Heart warming. 😍 Yesterday's NSV - was trying to get ready to go to the gym last night. Got sidetracked twice by other duties. Looked up and see that it's already 9 PM. Drat - I considered just skipping the workout. But I didn't. Only had 50 minutes when I hit the gym door, but I did an…

Greetings, all. Haven't checked in here in a few days. My wife's cancer battle goes on. Everyone's cranky - no fun for anyone. My sister in law is coming to visit my wife in a couple of weeks. She can't get here soon enough to suit me. HAHA! 😁 She provides some relief for the rest of us and my wife is in a better mood…

Another volume eater here. Lunch most days is a bag salad kit. There are lots of choices with different dressings and condiments. I pair that with a protein source like canned chicken or tuna or leftover steak or taco meat.
-
I've made bacon wrapped dates (with an almond in the middle) for finger foods to take to a party. Always very popular and there are never any leftover temptations to bring home.
-
Greetings, all. Got a weekend away Saturday and Sunday. Helped to unwind a little bit. Scale was up big this morning - no surprise. Should settle out in a couple of days. Ready for more fun and games! HAHA!😆😁 Trying to maintain my "attitude of gratitude". Keep fighting the good fight, people! You all are an inspiration to…

Congratulations on reaching Onederland, @coblujay. That is awesome. Your hard work is paying off! Seconding your comments about the support and encouragement that I find here on MFP. The community is the best feature of the site!

@SbetaK and @swimmom_1 - Thought of you two when I saw this meme. Thanks for all you do. 😍

Greetings, all. Fully recovered from the 'rona. Back to work today, but I gotta' wear the mask for a couple of more days when I'm out. I have had two Pfizer injections and a flu vaccine, but not the booster. Now I'm hoping for natural immunity after my infection. 🤞🤞🤞 Got a little whoosh going on the last few days. Appetite…

Thanks for the kind words, Ann. Just dealing with the last of the congestion today. I'll be fully recovered by Monday. Taking the dog for a walk later today. The cold air should help me clear my throat and lungs. You're so right about the roller coaster. Always something new to deal with.

Greetings, all you seasoned citizens. Been out for a few days. Caught the Wuhan flu. Was a little achy Sunday night. Was severely achy Monday morning. Went for a rapid test - came up positive - because, of course.😞 Naproxen took care of the muscle aches by Tuesday. Also had a very sore throat and congestion. Dealing with…
