That sounds tough, Lisa. :( Sorry to hear you're feeling depressed. You're more than welcome to add me! I'm very anal about tracking everything I eat, and I like to "like" and comment on other people's statuses, so I'll definitely be vocal. :)

Welcome! You can do this! And I agree with ardita...use the food journal on here! It's a huuuuge help. :) Good luck!

Good for you for being here, Allis! It's easier to just put on blinders and refuse to deal with problems, especially when you're terrified. The fact that you're here shows your commitment and desire to get healthy. I've never been a diehard exerciser, so don't feel like you have to jump into that. Just do what you're…

Congrats!!!!! When's the big day? :)

Just keep going like you plan to do! Sometimes these dips and fluctuations can be confusing and frustrating, but if your overall trend is downward, then that's all you need. :)

Those are all fabulous tips, thank you! I like the idea of going in with a week-long deficit. I'm also seriously considering a turkey trot but I know I can't run that far yet. :/

It helped me immensely to cut down on TV. I hardly watch it anymore, and I've noticed my need to graze when I'm not hungry is gone. Such a weird association!

I also like the rules of just closing the kitchen. I log my calories on the MFP app, and once I hit "complete entry," that's it for me. I also make hot tea if I feel like I need to keep my mouth busy or my stomach doesn't feel full enough. Some nights I drink 2-3 cups (caffeine free, of course), but it's better than…

YESSSSS. Totally this. Don't deprive yourself; that's SO important. Good luck! You can totally do this. You've had a setback, but you've got the whole rest of your life ahead of you to set it right and keep on doing it right.

I just want to say great job! You sound intelligent, motivated, and self-aware. I wish you all the best of luck. :)

Woo hooooo!

Click on "more" or the three dots next to a meal. It should take you to an area that lets you copy meals.

Substitutions are great. Buying smaller, healthier sweets (like Fiber One lemon or brownie bars, 90 calories each) really helps me control my sweet tooth. I also log everything I eat and "budget" for sweets. Congrats on the baby! :)

Today I (okay, it was last night, but I was too sleepy to come on and talk about it, haha) went to bed even though I was hungry and wanted to eat more past my daily caloric goal. That food journal is a godsend, honestly. I had some hot tea instead, felt a bit sorry for myself, and tucked myself into bed. This morning I've…

Just minor blips! As long as your larger trend is downward, it doesn't matter what these individual weigh-ins are. We have weeks to go, after all. :) And I feel you on the water weight from traveling. It usually helps to give my body a couple of days to recover before I weigh myself (I hate "sticker shock.")

132.4 today. I plateaued for a week, so I think this is just my body catching up. Moving my GW to 130.

SW: 137.6 CW: 133.4 GW: 132, but might move it to 130

Love these! Great work, ladies (I think everyone on this thread is female...)! I tried on some clothes that depressed me when they got too tight because I wanted an honest gauge of progress, and they fit! Some of them were loose, others were still a little tight in some places, but it felt good to get them on and take a…

Ugh, sorry. It sounds really tough to have gone through that. I've had scale shock before, and it is NOT fun, I know. However, I think it's really promising that you've lost inches. For a long time, I hit a plateau even though I felt my clothes getting looser. It was so incredibly frustrating! Just hang in there, weigh…

Do you know why you indulge in self-sabotage? I mean, a deeper reason than just feeling like it's a reward? It might be fear. Sometimes not knowing/not being able to imagine success makes it safer for us to stay in the "known zone." I've done that before with things other than weight loss, and it always helps to verbalize…

I used to be skinny before I gained about 50 lbs, but even so, I forgot how much more energy you have when you're thin! I used to be fatigued alllll the time, and my moods were much more prone to being blue, too.

Wearing a dress I haven't worn since the beginning of the summer today, and it's LOOSE! Like, I-could-easily-size-down-and-be-comfortable level loose. It used to be snug in all the wrong places. :)

Woo hoo!!!

Yes!! In fact, I'm a little afraid I'm going to go overboard this fall...

Daily weighing is more harmful than helpful for me, for sure. I really like programmer's graph up there; it drives home why I like to weigh only weekly. Keep your chin up--one day is just 24 hours. That's a piddly amount in the course of your life!

(PS-You don't need to have 20 lbs to drop to join.)

Yay! Come join our Christmas challenge group if you'd like. Lots of like-minded folks there. Not sure how to post a link, but you can search for "drop 20 by Christmas."
-
You absolutely should not give up! If you make your feed public, people can check out your food diary and exercise and give you feedback. There can be so many reasons for the gain.

Feel free to friend me!

Awesome!!!!! High five!!!!
