Justifies my KFC today then ;)

Hey, I am saying this in the nicest possible way but I'm actually glad I've seen this thread. I'm in the exact same position as you, struggling with the recommended starting weight. If you'd like, add me as a friend and we could work through the program together :)

Croeso! I've sent you a friend request.

The Big Bang Theory again! Genuinely think this is the only reason I have Netflix :D

I enjoy going on my rowing machine if I'm in the mood for a steady cardio session, otherwise it's the bike for some HIIT :)

I absolutely hate cooking porridge (I'm from the UK) on the stove due to the fact it's a nightmare to clean... last time I tried it however I was living in student accommodation and even the basic of pans were considered a luxury ;) Nowadays, all in a Pyrex jug, stick it in the microwave and voila it's done. Whole milk all…

Rowing. Don't do it that often but it feels like a great workout.

I use 400ml milk, a scoop of protein powder, 40g of oats and 2-3 strawberries. If I want it thicker I'll use yogurt instead of milk. I'll have it if I'm running late, keeps me going :) .

Off to a great start then :) Remember if you need any assistance there are plenty of people at the forums who will be more than willing to help you.

First of all good job picking a sensible amount to lose per week, that's the way to go long term. Starting tips I could give you is to buy a digital food scale to accurately measure the amount of food you're eating and replace all sugary drinks with water. Good luck!

Good luck to you with your journey :) !

The healthy BMI range for my age and height is 10st 4lb - 13st 13lb, now I'm happy being between 11-12st, going to add some strength training to my routine.

Congrats :)

* Food scale, you'll be surprised at how much you overestimate with some foods. Also a measuring jug for liquids (can't live without my Pyrex jug now). * Substitute all fizzy drinks with water, including the diet versions. You'll feel much better. I use milk with porridge hence the measuring jug. * Don't eat a ridiculously…

My original goal was 12st but I'm slightly less than that now. Focusing more on eating healthily mixed with cardio and strength training for a better body :) .

Congrats! Good luck for tomorrow :)

Not exactly sweet, but I've replaced biscuits (could easily eat a whole packet) with 85% dark chocolate. It's quite rich so I don't eat a lot of it :) .

I enjoy pure green tea, not the de-decaffeinated version! It helped my weight loss, because I switched to having a cup of tea instead of having a can of coke etc. and it gives me a feeling of being full so I snack less. On its own, it's hardly going to have any noticeable effects on weight loss though.

This. When you've pre-logged you know exactly what to get rather than looking around and getting tempted by whatever you have in the fridge/cupboards.

Drink more water and if you haven't done so already, cut out sugary drinks. I found that these increased my hunger, plus you'll save on your daily calorie intake to fit in more nutritious foods. Try adding foods that are high in fibre into your meals.

If you want to accurately monitor your calorie intake a food scale is a must in my opinion. You'll be surprised at how much you overestimate or underestimate the amount food you're actually eating. I prefer a digital scale as it's a bit more accurate and they're pretty inexpensive (paid about £6 for mine, and it still…

I've switched to dark chocolate (85%), 6 pieces give 125kcal and 10g of fat and less than 3g of sugar. Moderation is key :)

I agree with what eeede said, maybe your family know they should eat healthier but aren't ready to make the change. Keep it up is the only advice I can give, your results could be the motivation they need :) Good luck to you.

I usually add some sliced peppers and grated carrots to tomato based sauces, which I cook enough to make about 3 or 4 servings. Before work I prepare what I want to eat with the sauce and take to work with me in a little container.

Thank you for the quick and informative replies. I'm going to take your advice and focus more on strength training and see how it goes! Have a nice evening/day :)

I said no to a takeaway which would've consisted of a large pizza, large portion of chips and two cans of sugary drinks. Had a protein shake instead, saved £10 and (I believe) way over 1500 calories! Joined this site and reading some of the stories motivated me not to order out :)

Just a side note. If you do decide to drink green tea, don't drink too many cups of it, especially if you've never tried it before as it can cause an upset stomach :disappointed: As for the weight loss, if you normally drink sugary drinks etc. and switch to green tea instead then that will help with your weight loss. Good…
