I too was having this issue. I did some googling, and removed the custom meal names as recommended by Garmin support people. I changed them back to "breakfast" " lunch" "dinner" "snacks". The next day, my step calories started showing up in MFP.

For me, MFP syncs to Garmin Connect for calories consumed (MFP food log), but Garmin Connect doesn't sync steps to MFP. My fitbit did this flawlessly, but the fitbit had other issues syncing to my verizon phone. lol, technology.

congrats. i've gone up and down in my 48 years. Thankfully I've been down for the last year @ 180, dipping into the mid 170's. you'll find the MFP application an awesome tool for keeping things honest. Plus it's FREE !

I do, and mostly I try to plan for the calories by consuming less food carbs for that day so it doesn't hurt my daily intake.
