Some ideas (many mentioned above) include higher rep lower weight dumbell chest pressed (flat and in line), chest fly, push ups, trx press and shoulder press. When I do my chest days, I also train my back with rows and pull ups.

A pair of suspenders  I have no suggestions short of a safety pin. Right now I'm squeezing into slightly too small capris and they ride down when I run or jump. Same problem opposite reason

It looks like there are enough of us to make a group!

Well that sucks. I'm glad mine works

It may, but to be honest the BF% variance is much smaller than the scale variance. I fluctuate in water weight wildly (many women do) and my omron is surprisingly consistent. It is for my husband as well. That said a tape measure is a great suggestion as well. We log weight, body fat, and measurements once per week. These…

I would spend 30$ on a hand held body fat monitor... Takes the anxiety out of the scale numbers wiggling up and down. If you use it under the same conditions at the same time of day (e.g. Hydrated, naked, empty stomach) it gives out very consistent results.

I'm in! Current weight 170, goal weight is 145, but really 27% body fat, so either (muscle is dense!!)

I'm 5'7, 35 years old, and 170 with 35% body fat. Theoretically I would like to get to 140, but I'd be thrilled just to get to 27% body fat. You can friend me anytime! My food diary is public

You're looking great! It can be really scary to put yourself out there like you are, but I applaud you. I bet it helps with accountability too... you want to make sure your next picture is closer to your goal! That you've accomplished this after so many challenges is also something to be proud of. Great work! Also, that…

You can find a good kitchen scale for pretty cheap and it takes the guesswork out of a lot of that stuff. Today I weighed my shredded red cabbage, my grated carrots, pumpkin seeds and cubed chicken breast for my salad and it made it so much better than going off of "cups". Volumetric measurements depend on packing and…

That's a good point. I know a lot of whey manufacturers have sample packets including Tera's Whey, so maybe look for those? If you live near a Whole Foods or an organic grocer they probably have them.

I have heard that sometimes is good to take a few weeks off working out. Bring your calorie intake down to match. Just walk and do gentle stuff like yoga, then when you start training harder again your body is jolted into action again. Anyone else have this experience? I did it last year before my wedding. Stopped…

That looks great! I may watch it tonight after dinner. Thanks for the recommendation :) You know what oddly gave me a body image boost? My husband and I went on our honeymoon in the Austrian Alps and we stayed at a hotel that had a huge sauna area... but it was co-ed naked except for these tiny hand towels! I am very…

I'm also similar! 5'6'', 35, currently 170, 35% body fat with a goal to get to 27%. (not sure what I'll weigh when I get there) I wear size medium and 8-10 for pants. I'm really into circuit and strength training. No kids yet though, but trying and want to start my pregnancy from a place of fitness.

Another idea is open face Wasa crispbread sandwiches. I like to do sliced hardboiled egg, a slice of ham on each, avocado, tomato and smear of butter. Even 2 of them is really filling.

Pizza! I got this idea from SeriousEats blog. Basically you heat up an oven-safe skillet (9-10") until it's screaming hot then turn off the heat. Drop a skillet-sized tortilla in (the heat will make it conform to the bottom), then we load it up with healthy pizza goodies like tomato sauce or pesto, turkey sausage,…

Hi everyone! I'm Reesh. I'm 35. I have been a teacher for the last thirteen years, but this year I decided to take a break and focus on becoming an artist (something I've always wanted to do). This means I'm at home all the time and managing my meals from my own kitchen most of the time. I feel lucky to know that I have…

Hi Merry. I've done 4 Whole30s at this point. It's not quite an elimination diet because you start out having eliminated all kinds of things and you don't put anything back until you're done with 30 days  I'd describe it as more of a nutritional, hormonal, and habit reset. The habits were so key for me and my…

I think it helps people who tend to eat fast and wind up feeling hungry after they ate everything they diligently measured. I'm a teacher so I tend to eat super fast given the 10-15 minutes I have to eat my lunch. Sometimes I eat so fast my body hasn't even registered the fullness factor yet. The chopsticks slow me down…

My question for you is whether you are giving yourself more benefit of the doubt. Maybe you are trying in some areas, but there's always the chance you aren't being honest with yourself (not personal, but common). The flow chart is excellent though, and I wish you all the luck. Feeling like you are stuck is a bummer.…

Grated carrot and red cabbage salad with some chicken breast and olive oil.

 I've been chopsticking for about 20 years and some foods get me... Nonsticky rice, the salad I ate for lunch pictured below, anything finely chopped. Once the food gets below a critical mass and can't scoop it up easily into one bundle it becomes hunt and peck. Sumo wrestlers are probably the most proficient…

I like Tera's Whey in bourbon vanilla and dark chocolate though the vanilla mixes better. Neither will mix as well as ON, but I do two scoops in a mason jar with milk and shake the crap out of it. It is whey from pastured, grass-fed dairy cows.

I had a peek in your diary! I know from experience that if I had a bagel at brekkie, teddy grahams as a snack later, etc that I would probably experience some blood sugar spiking and crashing that would only increase feelings of ravenousness. Like others above have mentioned, protein and fats may help to contribute to…

I have another recommendation and years of experience teaching kids how to ride bikes and coaching teenagers in road racing. Balance can be a scary thing for kids who have never learned to ride. When I have taught older kids how to ride bikes I remove the pedals and lower the saddle so their feet comfortably touch the…

I think it's important for successful couples to have their most important values lined up and one challenge is that at that young age, there aren't many who are deeply in tune with their most closely-held values yet. (Some are though, so I'm not knocking you specifically!). For me, it is deeply important to share an…

Haha, it's not offensive, it's just a weird misnomer for caloric overages that is applied to foods. It might be a southern thing-- my mother in law has been in Georgia for twenty years!

Have you considered getting a body fat monitor? I found the handheld omron one works well enough to let me know that even when the scale isn't dropping when I've been working in the gym, my body fat levels are. I think they are about $30 on amazon.
