There is so much fantastic wisdom in these comments. One day you will look back and amaze yourself at the amount of emotional energy you spent worrying about the shape and size of your amazing young body. If there was one thing I could go back and change, it would be that. The healthiest recommendation I can make is to cut…

I find that gentle cycling is the best activity when I'm crampy as it loosens the muscles up without impact. Walking and lifting can exacerbate the feelings of discomfort for me. Using a menstrual cup makes a world of difference for me when it comes to workouts, but you have to find one that works for your anatomy and flow.

I pay attention to them simply because I have a much easier time keeping to my calorie goal with a higher fat and protein intake and a lower carb intake than is recommended. But that is me and my body, certainly from other responses that isn't true for everyone.

I lived off Alvarado Street Bakery bagels when I was in the first trimester of my pregnancy 😂 sooo good

I am quite partial to Ezekiel bread (the sesame variety) and it has just 14g of carb per slice which is well within my low carb budget and taste freaking amazing toasted. I'll have it with butter, avocado and a couple eggs! Sometimes you just have to have the real deal 🤤

Spaghetti squash shrimp scampi. I'm obsessed again after a long hiatus. Best use of spaghetti squash ever!

Five pounds in five weeks. Easy right?!

I read a recent paper from the National Institutes of Health saying that doctors and patients should be worrying more about body composition than weight gain during pregnancy and I tend to agree. I really don't want to fuss about the scale... it makes me anxious and it makes me focus on the wrong things. I'd rather go off…

Honestly, I was all gung ho about doing macros when I found out I was pregnant, but now, 6 weeks in and my body is like NOPE to most foods and nauseated the other half the time. I am just making sure I'm getting my prenatal vitamins and trying to eat within 300 calories of my maintenance amount. Originally I was thinking…

Ahhhh the nausea and protein aversions have arrived! Barf!

I'm due in early June with my first baby :) I am approaching the first trimester with an aim to maintain but recompose-- so lose some body fat and gain muscle mass. I'm 167.5 now, so I expect to stay in the 160s range during the 1st Tri if I keep up with my strength training and stay on top of eating well. I'll be using…

Hi! I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy with my first and trying to figure it all out. I had been pregnant earlier this year and miscarried, so I had a taste of what to expect. I'm only 5 weeks along, so it's early, but already I'm slogging through the day exhausted and looking for snacks  I've been really good…

Hi Jay. I think it depends on how you plan to eat. My husband and I eat mostly gluten free, and it isn't hard at all, but we cook all the time and have no expectations of eating things that traditionally have gluten in them. Bread is not a daily part of our diet for instance. I don't avoid gluten per se, but I try to limit…

I second this, if it's available and affordable to you. My favorite kind/flavor (never get sick of it deliciousness) is G.T.'s Trilogy (raspberry, ginger, lemon and 60 calories in a bottle). I find that 'booch' as I affectionately call it fills in when I have cravings for soda or alcohol. It's fizzy, it's tangy, but it's…

Hey Gray duck! I'm a big hiker/camper as well. My husband and I do really well when we have something to aim for and backpacking the Dolly Sods Wilderness of West Virginia is our goal. Considering we'll be hiking ten or so miles a day with 50-60 lbs on our backs, it's a good enough reason to get into shape. I totally hear…

We are twins! You're a bit ahead of me in your progress, but we are both 5'7, starting around 170 striving to get to 140!

Me too. If I eat early (and sometimes I do), I find food begets more food. I am usually hungrier earlier, particularly if I don't get enough protein and fat in my breakfast (if I had a croissant and coffee at 7, for instance, I'd be starving by 8:30). Fasting til 10 or 10:30 keeps me from feeling hungry until closer to 10…

Another crazy thought... They make oil based peppermint extract (got mine at whole foods). You can take a drop from the bottle using your finger. Works like a charm.
-
:suspicious:  I am picky about mouthfeel, so for me I am disappointed if I waste my ice cream calorie allotment on lighter kinds. The other week my husband and I hiked several miles and after, stopped at an ice cream stand that served Hershey ice cream. So much disappointment.

Stove popped popcorn with real butter, stinky oozy soft ripened cheese, wings

I like to find ice cream made from grass-fed cows for the vitamin K2 and CLAs. Full fat or bust.

I'm glad someone else here agrees with me about that travesty called arctic zero!

I'm not sure what fat bombs are exactly, but I make butter mints. Just butter and an oil based peppermint extract. Soften the butter then mix with beaters or a stand mixer and pipe them onto wax paper using a ziploc with the corner cut off. Freeze and then store in an airtight container. They hit the spot.

D-balls (30-40-50 lbs), trx, kettlebells (15, 35, 55 lbs), barbell with bumper plates and bench. This is my dream home gym

I think the extra energy people talk about may be the feeling of how quickly they bounce back from a challenging workout. That will improve with time and really it will depend on your unique genetic profile and how well you are fueling your body. If I take a break for a few months and then start lifting again, I feel…

I've been lifting for about two years! Feel free to add me as a friend. My food and exercise diary is open :sunglasses:

Tacking onto all the good suggestions above, have you thought about just biking more slowly? At the start of each season I always try to go as fast as I did at the end of last season... And I wear myself out  be patient with yourself and know that more time on your bike will improve your efficiency

Not surprising, and also horrifying. Someone keep these judges in snacks!

I like to drink high quality coffee black when it is brewed rather weak. When is strong it is just too much for me. I add 2T heavy cream and make it part of a filling brekkie. Usually black though.

Depends on the perspective. A person can apologize and do the right thing but the person receiving the apology can decide whether it's worth accepting.
