Update: Current weight 263 It's been a slow, steady process but I am making progress. I feel better and am starting to transition into the smaller clothes in my closet. I'm trying to break into the 250's before my birthday in a little over a week. I don't know if I'll make it, but it's within the realm of possibility.

After I was diagnosed with it a couple of years ago, I bought a textured roller that you can freeze; it works really well when my feet ache. My doctor also recommended picking up a washcloth or pencil with my toes, it stretches the tendon that causes the issue and increases the strength in your foot - it sounds odd, but it…

Thank you for sharing your story - an amazing transformation!

Weighed in yesterday and am only a little over a pound from getting below 260. Still have 12 days before my birthday!

Break into the 250's by my birthday in 3 weeks. Soooo close.

I like the "it's math" answer - I'm probably going to start using it since it's more succinct than what I usually tell people. When someone asks, I tell them the following information 1) I measure everything I eat/drink 2) I have an understanding of how many calories I can eat each day and lose weight 3) I make choices…

I've had 4 different people (2 at the gym, 2 at work) say something nice about my weight loss in the past week. I'm about halfway to my first major goal, so it's been a real ego booster and provides just a little extra fuel to keep going.

Moved about 10 shirts and a couple of pairs of jeans from the "not quite yet" to the "now it fits" side of the closet. Love shopping in my own closet again.

I've lost nearly 40 pounds over the past year (20 in the last 4 months) and haven't heard so much as a peep from anyone in my family outside of my wife who's more impressed with my dedication to getting up before dawn and hitting the gym than my weight loss. Mind you, this may be because I lost 130 pounds four years ago…

I run as well but I've never "accidently" run 3 miles - I think I'd notice after 20 minutes or so! Great job on the run and the breaking the 10 minute mark!

Deep fried foods are almost completely gone from my diet. My stomach feels better if I don't eat foods submerged in oil and most are not worth the calorie hit I'd take.

This^^^^ People don't believe that I can eat as much as I do, either. I have eaten salads that were positively huge, loaded with fresh vegetables and dressed with a vinegar and a splash of oil, which come in at less calories than someone's deli sandwich. I really don't think that people make the connection that you can be…

I'm still thinking about how someone could "accidently" run 5k. Nope, still can't figure it out...

Love your approach to weight loss. "Journey" always sounded too wishy-washy and not indicative of what I am trying to achieve. Commitment, quest, decided - action words that denote purpose.

Last week, I had someone at the gym tell me that he was impressed with my dedication and how hard I've been pushing myself lately. Today, as I was getting ready to leave, I had another person approach me and introduce himself. He and his wife have been regulars at the same time I work out for a long time. He said they've…

Didn't even see your post before I made mine today. Sounds like we're in a very similar situation. Congratulations and keep up the hard work!

So, I forgot to do laundry and didn't have any clean khakis to wear to work this morning. I had two choices: either grab the pants I know are too big even with a belt (size 42) or the ones that were too small the last time I tried them on (size 36). I took a chance and grabbed the smaller pair. I worried they'd be too…

Saw Black Stone Cherry two weeks ago Seeing Judas Priest, Saxon & Black Star Riders this Sunday with my 12 year old (his first metal show) Here are the shows I already have tickets to for this summer (but I expect this list to grow) Slayer, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Testament and Behemoth Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown,…

There will be times when your spouse/significant other/friends won't want to hear about your weight loss, workouts or meal planning. In my case, there are times when I get really locked in on my workouts and eating well and it becomes a primary point of conversation with my wife. When all of the nutrition and workout talk…

First Easter at our house after years of having it at my mother-in-law's. Ham, mashed potatoes, sauteed green beans, roasted carrots, a green salad, deviled eggs, blueberry pie and some sort of chocolate fluff with crushed Oreos (my sister-in-law doesn't eat berries). For me, I'm hitting the green beans, carrots, salad and…

I put on a shirt I received for Christmas and it's too big - so big, it may be the last time I wear it. (It's kind of a shame I didn't wear it too often because it's really a good color on me!)

My mini-goal now and going forward is each 5 pound increment until I hit my goal.

How much better your posture is both sitting and standing.

We had a health assessment at work last week, I've lost 30 pounds, my BMI is down, my total cholesterol is under 200, my HDL went up 15 points, and my blood pressure is down from this time last year. I've got a long way to go but it was really encouraging to see the improvements I'm making.

Heeding the mantra that "dark, green & leafy" are nutritional powerhouses, I've tried, on more than one occasion, to eat Swiss chard. Regardless of how I've had it prepared, all I can taste is an off-putting bitterness when I eat it. My wife loves it, but I won't be eating it again on purpose.

I will probably count calories the rest of my life. I lost 130 pounds a few years ago and stopped counting calories. At first, I was able to maintain my weight fairly well, but slowly my weight began to creep upward. By not actively checking nutritional information and calorie counts, I made poor decisions and ate more…

* Stay the course - it's working * Keep measuring and counting calories - don't guesstimate. * Start lifting as soon as possible. * Buy quality running shoes - don't skimp on quality or you'll pay for it (plantar fasciitis) * Don't make excuses to neglect rules 1 -4.

In complete agreement with the general consensus here - weight loss primarily occurs in the kitchen, not in the gym. I lost over 130 pounds simply by eating fewer calories than I burned combined with regular light exercise; however, I regained nearly half back by failing to manage my food intake even while continuing to…

I spent a couple of hours last week rearranging my closet into "can wear now" and "can't wear yet" by trying on every shirt in my closet. Of the ones that currently don't fit, there are a few I couldn't get over my head, others that looked like I was smuggling a watermelon, but the most of them I could get on and if I lose…
