Good luck. A couple of years ago, I had lost a bunch of weight and knew my finger was getting thinner. I was throwing recyclables into a container at a collection center and lost my ring -never did find it.

When size 4x threatened to become 5x. Now 2x and aiming for XL.

Today would be a great day to go for a hike!

I can empathize with you. I lost 130 pounds, but slowly began to let my exercise and diet habits slip and I gained 10-15 pounds. Then, I began a new position at work (the first "new" job I had in over a decade) and I began to mindlessly eat to cope with the stress. Within 18 months, I regained over half of the weight I…

I had similar anxieties when I joined a gym. To combat these fears, I started working out first thing in the AM when there are less people at the gym (in addition, there's little competition for the equipment.) I think the biggest thing I had to get over were my own insecurities; if anything, people were extraordinarily…

I understand. I've been on the roller coaster a long time. I lost a ton of weight, gained 60% of it back over the course of 3 years and now have spent the last 18 months chipping away at it again. It takes a plan, dedication and patience. You can do it!

More geography illiteracy. Someone I worked with asked me where I was from originally. I said I was born in Iowa. She responded "The place with the potatoes, right?"

When you're walking around with coins in your pocket thinking about how nice one of those football-shaped change holders would be.

If it's not recorded on your Fitbit, does it actually count as activity?

There's a vein that's slightly raised down the length of my forearm - I'm kind of infatuated with it!

Pace yourself. With all of the excitement, you'll want to start off REALLY fast. If you do, you might be gassed before end of the race. Try to stay at a pace where you're comfortable and don't let the people around you dictate how fast you run or walk. It's your race. Good luck and have fun!

Best post I've read in a while - what an unexpected way to receive recognition for all of your hard work! Good for you!

When you go to the movies and fall asleep at least for a few minutes because the theater is dark and the seats recline.

Me too! We had an anniversary celebration this morning and I easily walked by the cake (but helped myself to some fresh cut fruit and a cup of black coffee!)

I was featured in an article on my company's intranet site about losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle during their Wellness Week celebration.

Just finishing this post as well as your "halfway to goal" post and it was just what I needed to remind me that it's not always fast, not always fun but it's always worth it. Thanks for the inspiration today!

Went to a theme park over the weekend and fit on every roller coaster I wanted to ride. No walk of shame off the platform because the harness wouldn't latch and I made some great memories with my son.

I'd like to drop 5 pounds before my 25th anniversary trip with my wife in August.

I ran a sub 11 minute mile this morning - the first time in at least 3 years. It doesn't sound like much, but considering I started at 13+ minutes/mile at the beginning of the year, this accomplishment feels absolutely huge. I'm averaging 12 minute miles and looking to run a sub 10 minute mile by the end of the year.

Glad you found your ring. I lost mine in a dumpster when I was taking some cardboard boxes to the recycling center. I'm wearing a cheap ring I bought online until I get to my goal weight. The posters here are providing good advice on your options until you get it resized.

Didn't mean to imply that I was on a low carb/sugar diet or I would eat an entire serving of dried apricots, just that I generally can't eat processed sweets like candy or cakes because they taste too sweet for my palate. When I crave something sweet, I may eat 1 or 2 dried apricots to curb the craving - only 2-4 grams of…

I agree with you - things like cakes, pies and candy are usually too sweet for me these days. I find a little dried fruit, like an apricot or a few cherries, satisfies my sweet tooth when I'm really craving something sweet.

Going on 50 pounds and nary a word from anyone close to me. I've had a couple of people at the gym comment, but outside of my wife, none of my family or friends has said anything. While it bothers me a little no one has said anything, I know that I am definitely making progress.

Less than 4 pounds until I reach the 50 pounds lost mark on MFP.

Sliding shorts (even with the drawstring pulled tight!) on the treadmill today.

Vanity. I don't want to be the "fat middle-aged guy" but rather "distinguished looking." Similarly, I'd like to be arm candy for my wife!
-
Same here with the temperature - last year, we kept the house at 70-72, this year, I'm more comfortable at 76-78; however, my wife still wants it around 70, then puts on socks and a blanket because she's cold!

I received clothes for my birthday in a smaller size. I assumed I would have to wait a few weeks before wearing them, but they fit!
-
I buy the bagged chopped salads they offer for lunches - they're about 2/3 the cost of the name brand. I get most of my dairy - milk, eggs, yogurt and cheese - there as well.

^^^^^This Right now, I think I look like a melted candle. I'm sure things will firm up and look better than it does now, but in the interim, I don't always like what I see in the mirror. Ultimately, I know I am doing what's best for my health, vanity be damned!
