thank you for posting this! I am 6'1" and was wondering if I should make my longterm goal 189 to be in the healthy range. I started at 319 and am now at 261.[/quote] Although BMI is a good rough estimate to help you set your goal I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm 6'1 and started at 250. I am now maintaining between…

I have been frustrated recently- as I have been maintaining a 50 pound loss for about 6 months from 195-200 (6'1"), but I was TRYING to lose .5 pounds a week (or a little less). According to my logs, I should be successful- but I suspect I have been a bit slopping with them- not always adding in the licks, nibbles, tastes,…

I joined a women's recreation league at age 42 when I saw how much fun my kids were having on the field. I am also not a runner, but I do run-at least once or twice a week-just so I can get that damn ball! It's a ton of fun and it has become even more fun as I've lost 50 pounds. Good luck!

6'1 Female. Was 250. Now 195. Was aiming for 190, but it seems I like the extra food more than getting down a bit lower!

I'm so sorry for both the loss of both your parents and that you were raped.

Sorry- highest weight was 250 and I was a size 20

Definitely vanity sizing!)

6'1" at my highest weight of 350, I was a size 20 US. Now at 195, I am size 12 (although I have one pair that is 10, one pair from about 5 years ago which is 14, and one pair from about 10 years ago who's is size 16-so definitely

When I was a kid, my mother bought me a book called "Alexander and the terrible horrible, no-good very bad day" all about a kid who had a terrible day and wants to move to Australia. (At the end of the book, he leans that even in Australia they have bad days!) Your post made me think of this. Love the good you took out of…

Had to drive my daughter to her soccer practice today. Instead of hanging out at Starbucks or Tim Hortons, I grabbed my skates and skated on a beautiful outside rink for half an hour! It makes me want to go to Ottawa to skate on the canal!

I log about 200 calories for an hour of lifting- seems to be about right.

It's wonderful to read everyone's NSVs. I have 2 to share. The first I started playing soccer about 8 years ago (at 41- because my kids looked like they were having such a great time!) I used to have to play keeper for half the game because I was too tired to play the whole game. 50 pounds down and I find I can last the…

With exercise, do whatever you enjoy the most. A little is better than none. More is better than a little, etc. Also, there is some interesting evidence that sitting for long periods of time- even with a hour of intense exercise is not good for you. Being active throughout the day is key. I'll see if I can find a link.

Such a helpful post! Gained 3 pounds-probably one of which is real gain. Back on a small deficit as of yesterday.

Can I come to your house for Christmas? Sounds amazing!

Good for you to not let being overweight get in the way of fitness!

Great thread

I am also struggling with maintaining. Technically I have 5 pounds to go before maintenance, but lately I have been having a very hard time not eating a lot at night. I have lost 50 pounds over a year...feeling discouraged at the moment. ..keeping thinking about the statistics on the percentage of people who re-gain…

I agree with the majority of users on MFP that calories are calories and what and when you eat doesn't make much difference for weight loss. I have lost over 50 pounds usually earing a big diner and a late night snack. However, I am now experimenting with NOT eating at night as I realize that my most challenging time to…

I have lost 50 pounds since starting with MFP. I hope to lose 5 more and maintain +/- 4 pounds. When? I'm just taking it a day at a time. The weight came off quite a bit faster when I started. Now it's VERY slow. I'm probably down 1/2 pound every 2-3 weeks or so. But I know that I don't want to cut anymore, and there is no…

Last night I reverted to some old habits and had a 900 calorie binge. Today, I went back to my regular way if eating and will finish the day about 400 calories under. I think I'll just make my weekly goal. I think the big learning for me is recovering from slip ups. Learn from my mistake forgive myself and continue on.

This really is an awesome NSV because it comes from an attitude change within you! Feeling good in your own skin is truly amazing! Congratulations!

Hi, I'm 6"1 with a fairly large frame. I started off at 245 and am currently 197 with a goal weight of 189- which puts me at the top of a healthy BMI. I feel and look good (if I do say so myself! ) My plan will be to maintain for a year or so and see. At the moment, my maintenance calories will be around 2200 which feels…

I also think that you look great! You looked great many pounds ago as well. I agree with the previous poster- push for an exemption or go in light shorts and a tank top and drop down until you get your exemption. Silly bmi rules!

6'1 Starting weight 245 Current weight 195 Goal weight 190. I might drop to 185 but I'm pretty happy with how I look now - and all my clothes fit me!

My NSV is around recovering. ..I'm on vacation and I had decided to eat at maintenance. The last few days have been a lot higher, and, most importantly I haven't felt good after the fact. (Too full and bloated) and not really enjoying my food . Today, I'm at my regular deficit but still worked in a G &T and some chocolate…

I'm 6"1. SW around 245, CW 199 GW 190-195 I love being tall, although I didn't like it as a teenager or even a young adult. I think I've grown into my height if you will -gained confidence in myself and my body. People are sometimes shocked at how much I weigh. As @jhmomofmany said, it's very hard to find coats and long…
