We had a potluck lunch today at work. We have these every month or two and there are always lots of goodies. Before I committed to this journey, I would have had serious helpings of everything. Today, I still tried everything but just a tiny spoonful or serving of each. Definitely a NSV for me - feeling good about it.26

I jogged for 5 minutes without stopping! Tomorrow I'm going to try 6 minutes and so on.32

Going to the DIY store to buy more decking, didnt bother getting a trolley (I can never steer those big ones). Carried 4 planks over my shoulder - no bother.22

Well, we (DH, my children and I) did it - we walked to the next town.
According to Google Maps, it was supposed to be 11.5 miles. According to the Map My Ride tracking, it was 13.15 miles.
It took us a while - about 5 1/2 hours (including time for breaks) but my toddler walked about half of the distance (she insisted on walking) so we went at her pace.
No time for much cycling as a result but we had a lovely day together as a family, saw lots of interesting things (the path we took is a converted disused railway line) and had time to "stop and stare" and to talk about what we saw.
My step counter is showing 30, 590 steps but I think that it may have missed some when I was pushing my littl'un in the buggy. No matter.
The children will sleep well tonight47 -
Took my two swimming this week, they are 5 and 9, parking near our house afterwards I got out of the car as normal, they were waiting on the pavement for me ( I know, well behaved!) As I rounded the car I shouted "Last one to the house is a nincompoop!" and sprinted down the road, the look on their faces and the whoops and laughter as they chased me! My son, the 9 year old, said, after we got in the house, "I've never seen you running before Mummy". I have vowed that I will run with them at least once a week, just for the sheer joy it gives us all58 -
I went in to a well known shop that I wouldn't have ever dared enter before and bought a pair of jeans off the rack. 34" waist down from my 46" when I started I still can't quite wrap my brain around it all.
A co-worker saw me today and said "hey skinny". Wah. Who, me?40 -
I was cutting it really close to a train departure today and miraculously found a parking spot right outside the platform, so I made my train. If I had to park 3 or 4 blocks away as is normal that time of day, I probably would have missed my train.
Coming home just now, I purposefully passed my car -- in my town's most coveted parking spot, closest to the train station -- and walked all over creation because I needed a couple thousand more steps before walking back to the station and to my car to finally go home.
I'm sure anyone else would think I'm a weirdo, but I figure you all would understand.51 -
I'm on week 6 of weight lifting and got to 100lbs on my squats! I started at 45lbs (just the bar) so I'm very happy about this!39

i walk around in my i-bike-home-in-these tights after changing at work. it's a small thing, but i just remembered this. 10 years ago i wouldn't wear tights at all. and even when i did start to wear them, i'd take everything with me into the nearest bathroom to the bike cage, and then sort of scuttle and sneak down to the cage hoping i wouldn't be seen.
i'm more or less the same shape now as i was then, actually. it's just now there are subtle differences i know about and so now i don't care. i go change and then i come back to get my laptop and pack up my stuff. the world's more or less welcome to look at my new cubist legs if they want.28 -
3 NSVs for me this week
1. My hubby was tickling me from behind. He stopped and started to poke at my belly saying "I can feel your abs they're hard."
2. A guy at work who is based in a different office so I only see occasionally noticed how much weight I've lost and said I'm looking "hot".
3. Probably the biggest one for me is that I haven't used a really stressful week at work coupled with a cold to eat whatever I wanted but have stuck with my plan.28 -
My daughter took a random Snapchat picture while we were at my son's baseball game last night. In the picture someone standing in the background with their back to the camera caught my eye, because they were wearing my exact same shirt. My first reaction was "who is that person with my shirt?" because that person was way smaller built than me, and the shirt actually looks nice on them. Then I realized the person was ME!! I didn't even recognize myself from that view.53

My first reaction was "who is that person with my shirt?" because that person was way smaller built than me, and the shirt actually looks nice on them. Then I realized the person was ME!! I didn't even recognize myself from that view.

@Madwife2009 - I enjoy your recounting of the activities you do - both your bike rides & with your family. Just wanted to say that I am in awe of how you obviously treasure and enjoy your times as a family. That comes across very clearly in your posts.9 -

I feel the same way... i was in a 44 and didnt need a belt or a 46 and needed a belt. Now 38s are falling off of me. It's still hard to believe.13 -
It seems mine are started to add up! This morning I ran 4 miles at an 11:00 minute pace. I only stopped 2x to tie my shoes. 18 months ago I couldn't even make it to my stop sign(half a block).29

Went morel hunting in the Daniel Boone National forest yesterday. Dropped down into a holler to check a patch which had proven fruitful five years ago.
Walking back up the ~3/4 mile hill I recalled having to stop five times to rest on that previous trip. Yesterday I didn't even break a sweat and fitbit reported my heart rate was only 92bpm.

This morning I decided to jog in my house non-stop for 15 minutes. After 15 mins I wasn't tired so I kept going until 30 minutes and stopped. I still wasn't tired and I was sweating like crazy. My heart rate stayed between 145-155. My Garmin watch showed I had made 5103 steps and jogged 2.75 miles.
I can't believe my cardiovascular endurance is improving without me going to the gym. This improvement is from walking average 12,000 steps everyday since January.
I have 2 goals for losing weight. My health, to stop my blood pressure med and reduce my risk of cardiovascular disease. I think I'll probably stop the bp med in May probably earlier. My second and vain reason, I'm into fashion and dressing up and I just want to wear all the cute outfits in my closet in the summer
My intent for weight loss was not to run, I'm not a runner, but I might take up running temporarily with a goal to join a recreational COED soccer team. I love soccer and it's my favorite sport. With all the sprinting involved in soccer I'll be burning some serious calories. I've been thinking of how to reward myself if I maintain my weight loss for years, I think I'll buy tickets to the next World Cup games.
I joined a women's recreation league at age 42 when I saw how much fun my kids were having on the field. I am also not a runner, but I do run-at least once or twice a week-just so I can get that damn ball! It's a ton of fun and it has become even more fun as I've lost 50 pounds. Good luck!14 -
There are a few for me this week:
1. I logged HONESTLY for 5 days in a row. I would skip things like taking a taste of something while I was cooking, or eating a fun sized chocolate bar. All adds up in the end.
2. I stopped eating lunch today when I was no longer hungry. I also ate my spinach first before I touched anything else!
I'm back on MFP after a year away. I was pregnant and now have a 6 month old daughter (along with a 2 year old son). I need to be healthy for me AND my kids and hubby. I have weight to lose from this pregnancy and the postpartum excuses I would give for bad eating habits.

I'm on the smallest set of bra hooks. I know it's a victory, but I'm super annoyed at having to buy all new bras soon. There was also an uncomfortable amount of bounce on my run yesterday, so it looks like new sports bras too. I just want sporty boobs again so I can buy the $10 3-pack of half tanks for the rest of the way down. Tying so hard to convince myself this is indeed an NSV.23

Despite the fact that I am on the take end of my cycle I woke up today and had to snap a picture b/c I couldn't believe how SKINNY I looked and felt!! I felt almost like I was "myself" again (pre baby body) It's not that I have felt awful in this post baby body, I just never grew accustomed to the realities of being heavier. As activities are becoming easier and I'm leaning out I'm noticing that 1. My legs stay crossed 2. I can easily paint my toenails again 3. My body just bends and move a whole lot easier than it has in the past few years.
These things make me feel familiar b/c it's how I remember my body operating!20 -

@MissMaggieMuffin - thank you, that's such a lovely thing to say. I have something in my eye now. Oh, it's gone, down my cheek . . .
I adore my children. They aren't always the most wonderful (in fact, sometimes they are downright hard to deal with) and I am fully aware of their faults but I love them all so much and I enjoy being with them. But, we're none of us perfect - as a mother I have many, many faults; for example, my younger son has picked up a bug and it's really dragged him down today (he didn't have it yesterday) and it took me until lunchtime today to even think about giving him some paracetamol to reduce his temperature and make him feel better. But, that aside, I just want them to grow into happy and healthy individuals and hopefully I'm giving them the base on which they can build for that aim.

This is wonderful. It's amazing what losing weight does for a person.
I'm having to get used to all of these feelings for the first time as I've always been overweight/obese, from childhood. It's a whole new world for me.
The issue I've been trying to deal with at the moment is how uncomfortable I am due to bones sticking out everywhere. It was my spine today, even sitting on a sofa, or in my DH's very comfortable car were causing pain today. Lying on my side in bed, every time a bone is near a surface (those funny round bits on the clavicle are usually red due to being under my bra straps) it's uncomfortable, bordering on painful.
But better that than how I used to be

Laughing at my "NO SCALE" success!
I have stalled the past 10 days, gained 4 lbs!
Back up to 208lbs in my birthday suit.
WTF?
This morning with hubby to his doctors appointment.
(He had lost 7 lbs in 4 months! Yeah baby!)
Decided to check on the doctor's scale my weight. 203 lbs?!?! With heavy blue jeans AND my heavy clogs on ?!?!
Wait.... I lost 5 -10 lbs in 15 minutes???
WTF?
Tech suggested my scale may be out of calibration or even broken.
Went home put my 10 lb weight on my scale multiple times.
The scale said 10lbs,15lbs, and even 17lbs!
Then tried to recalibrate it.
18,19,11,13,10,9, ummmmm no.
I threw out my scale!
Yes, I took fiendish delight in tossing that sucker!
That dear folks is my current
"NO SCALE " victory !

My 20 year old son who is fit - works out regularly, eats right, trains in Krav Maga. That son of mine asked to go to the gym with me. Knowing a ton of his friends would be there, he thought it would be cool.41 -

Today is the fifth day in a row I've done 10K steps. A few months ago when I started keeping track I was about 2K on days off and around 5K when I was working. And I had a lot of pain if I walked about 15 minutes straight. Now I am OKish going around 45 minutes non-stop.
And yesterday I added another 5 mins to the elliptical in my physical therapy appointment, and today I did 15 on my ski machine at home.
I still have pain and don't feel right, but I do feel a lot more hopeful about my injury.23 -

Remember, though that the cup size measurement is in how many inches difference there is between band and largest breast circumference. So if your band is shrinking and your cup size is the same, that means your breasts are indeed shrinking at the same rate as your band.19
