Lots of predators eat to satiety. Food rots. However, I agree with several researchers (none of whom you will be happy with if I post their names here) who point out that our current food choices hijacks this and causes harm. Lustig (told you that you wouldn't be happy!) had an interesting talk, of which he freely admits…

Okay, you get the same feeling when you pet a puppy. If someone was wired slightly differently, they might obsess about petting puppies. Our brains are complex, complex things glitch. Here is the difference: There are a lot more obese people who want to quit, are harming themselves, and need to quit than there are people…

Recent research has shown habituation to sugar in the brain as well so that you need more to get the same effect. The only drug that forces you to need it that is commonly abused is alcohol because without it your blood pressure shoots up and you can die. Opiates cause nasty sickness and muscle cramps. The rest, as far as…

So is alcohol most of the time, and other drugs. We are consciousnesses built on chemical reactions, not separate from them. You trying to make it all about the conscious mind or even the subconscious is oversimplifying just like someone trying to say it's %100 chemical is over simplifying. But no offense, when someone…

Eggs. I don't know how they stack up for calories, but I can only eat so many, so when I really want to lose fast, I eat eggs. Until my belly protests by keeping me near a potty all day! TMI, but I didn't want anyone to find that out the hard way.

Not what I meant. Humans are linguistically lazy. Took a college class on it once. Made sense. You're right as far as it goes, you say I'm addicted to caffeine no one freaks they just nod and go uh huh, pass the creamer! You say I'm addicted to sugar, it's a dog turd storm. I'm frustrated about that. I know what I mean…

Yeah, had one child, by C-section, and one was enough. It gets pretty small when I hit about 110 pounds or so. That's getting toward the low end of my healthy weight, so I don't expect it's ever going to vanish without plastic surgery, but it wasn't too bad at it's best. Ain't nobody perfect, and I know I ain't got the…

I've read a little about body burden and the worries about cumulative effects of chemicals that aren't in and of themselves so bad, but might be part of the whole that adds up to really bad. I don't know enough about it to get into depth, but it's a worrisome concept. We might be doing better than we did, but it's clear we…

In addition to the potential delay (as with carcinogens, it takes a while for the exposure to show up in statistics) many past pollutants remain long after they're banned, built up in air, soil, water, and in us. The number of toxins a baby is exposed to before birth is horrifying. And many of those have been banned for…

I have it. Honestly, if I can just get it down to a tiny bump and a four pack, I'll be all right with that. Last year when I was 10-15 pounds lighter than I am now, it was significantly smaller. So I have some hope.
-
Good point. But as I was born in the 70's, perhaps it's a delayed result overall? If, again, it's even accurate. I tend to think there is some effect due to some rodents studies.

This. If that isn't you, OP, enjoy your carbs!

I eat salt when I crave it, but I do cook for myself, so I get very little. Maybe you need something that is in the chocolate. Doesn't good chocolate have magnesium in it? Salt, magnesium, potassium. Have you been working out a lot or in the heat sweating or not eating enough foods with these in them? I find coconut water…

Don't give up learning about and trying everything until you find what works for you. And by 'works' I don't just mean you lose some weight. I mean you are happy doing it and not going crazy with the misery of hunger and frustration.

There are rodent studies showing air pollution, among other things, may lead to insulin resistance adiposity and inflammation as well. Conclusion—Early-life exposure to high levels of PM2.5 is a risk factor for subsequent development of insulin resistance, adiposity, and inflammation. Reactive oxygen species generation by…

Here is what I propose for those determined to differentiate: Come up with one word to describe the addictive behavior. One word. We are lazy. We like to give a single word to such phenomenon. And none exists. Come up with it, get it accepted everywhere, good to go. Be glad to use it. Cocaine users, meth users, gamblers,…

I'll try, thanks!

Shame there isn't an official forum for food policy. But of course the paid sock puppets would come flocking like they do to reddit. Oh well. Things will change.

There is some concern, but they just don't know, as you can see from this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19695149 CONCLUSIONS: The role of hot mate in increasing the risk of cancer of esophagus, larynx, and oral cavity seems to be supported by several epidemiological studies. The temperature could act by damaging the…

Oh dear, now I remember. Glycerol phosphate shuttle, we meet again. Didn't understand it the first time I tried to read about it, either. Will try again! :(

My experience as well. I don't mind sugar free gum now and then or my B12 or chewable baby aspirin, but everything else? Blech.

Good info! How many hours to turn dietary fat into ketones? What about body fat (in a calorie deficit)?
-
Any new news on that cancer correlation with Yerba Mate? I like the stuff, but read that and was a bit concerned.
-
Yep, that and they sometimes hire 'models' to lose weight quick and unhealthy for the shots. Read some descriptions by them on how it works. It's certainly nothing to do with the product.

Me too. And my country's government and corporations are my responsibility. And yours. And everyone's who doesn't live in a dictatorship. And for anyone who does live in a dictatorship (open or de facto), that's our/their responsibility, too.

I can't find any that doesn't have rice flower and/or isn't injected with some filler water salt mix or other (Making it cost more, doing nothing for me, the buyer!). Suggested stores? I want one ingredient. Chicken. Okay, a dash of salt and pepper would be fine, too.
-
I say if we don't live in a dictatorship we can change this. If we do, we need to change that. Other people affect me all the time. Politicians, business people, advertisers. Well, time for the people to start affecting them. Especially in regard to our health.

Same here. I think I accidentally turned down a FR a few days ago, if that was someone who reads this, sorry! Ask me again!
-
Good point!

That is far more evil than just wanting people to be fat.
