5'6" would like to weight between 130-135. I am between 143-148 now. My weight goal is based on the fact Kate Middleton is 5'9" and weighs 121...

I don't think it is a matter of common sense, but if no one ever told you, how are you expected to know these things?

I define armchair psychologists as those who are not actually educated in the field of psychology and have met no board requirements, but read a couple articles on Google and now think they are an expert. I would be hesitant to take their advice.

Ah I missed where she said that. I need to read slower. With that being said, OP, we can't see how much you are eating. When you say you are eating 1,200 to 2,200, is that a weekly average or each day? The reason I ask is because one day I may eat 2,700, but the next only 1,200. I look at my weekly average and it comes out…

Can you please open up your food journal?

I like putting it on whole grain crackers (6 triscuits is one serving). Here is a whole bunch of recipes from pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=Tuna&rs=typed&term_meta[]=Tuna%7Ctyped

Baby carrots, tomatoes, peppers, sugar snap peas, celery, plain popcorn. I like sipping peppermint or chai tea too (no added honey or sugar) after a meal.

What is your height and weight now?

Brain Wansink has a great book called "Mindless Eating" and he has a lot of tips. You could try putting your fork down in between bites and hands in your lap. Also, it is helpful to always eat at the table. Try to avoid TV, phones, and other distractions. When I did a mindful eating self study, they suggested chewing each…

You need to be working closely with your doctor, nurse, dietitian, and possible social worker too. I remember your other thread and your questions are beyond the scope of this forum. We don't know if you have any other conditions such as diabetes, heart trouble, or high blood pressure and what medications you are taking.…

I'm 5'6, 145-150. My averages for the past few weeks have been between 2,000-2,200 and I have been maintaining. I am trying to cut down to 1,850 with the goal weight of 130. The weight is coming of 0.2 by 0.2 at a time but if I went any lower I would be so hungry. I am hoping I can make 1,850 my new normal.

Everyone had really good questions but OP you didn't answer any. What is your starting weight? How much weight have you gained and over what period? What is your TDEE and how many calories are you eating? Are you using a food scale? Can you open your journal so we can look?

Smoking is a huge risk factor for poor outcomes after surgery including death. They are more likely to develop clots, which can go to the lungs (pulmonary embolus), heart (heart attack), or brain (stroke). It makes it difficult to breath under anesthesia and destroys your lungs, which makes it difficult to get enough…

The one I can't wrap my head around is "starvation mode". The only thing that will make you lose weight creating a calorie deficit, which is typically done by eating less. Yet somehow eating less will make you gain weight? I am dumbfounded how anyone can buy this logic. I guess it is because people weigh themselves in the…

http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/calories_burned.asp?exercise=121 Are you painting from 9 am to 5 pm with no breaks?

Please open your food journal.

I like to work out alone. I like to put my headphones on and get into my own headspace. I know if I work out in a group I will push myself more though.

Tea and chewing gum has really helped me cut back on the late night snacking. I also try to log the food before I eat it because seeing I am already at my limit helps me stop too.
-
Here is some basic math as to why “starvation mode” doesn’t make sense. According to tdeecalculator.net, if OP is a 30 year old female who is 5’9” and weighs 200 while sedentary, her daily maintenance calories are 2,090 a day. She is eating 1,400, giving her a deficit of 600 calories a day. In order for her to gain weight,…

I don't think this is accurate either.
-
No it doesn't. You don't gain weight by eating less. Starvation mode does not exist in this sense.

What is your starting weight? Would you be able to open your diary?

You could go to https://cronometer.com/. It calculates mono and polyunsaturated fats, including omega 3 and omega 6. While how much fat you are eating is important for weight loss, the good fats, the poly and mono's, have been shown to help lower risk of heart disease. Source:…

They don't specifically mention CICO, they just focus on portion control and eating more fruits/veggies (which in general are lower calorie then most other foods). I feel this is an indirect way to mention CICO. Some of the more detailed dietary guidelines do mention it.

@mdubs6 you are using a food scale right?

To anyone who is curious, most the graphs that were posted from National Health and Examination Survey (NHANES) which from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). It's a survey that is sent out and collected every ten years. (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nhanes/about_nhanes.htm) Yes, the data is self reported. Yes, people…

Mine is open too.

Op, just for clarification, are you using a good scale to determine portion sizes?
