-54 pounds has meant no more hip pain... No more needing to use scooters to shop... I can walk again! More energy and pride in my appearance. Sleep better.

My sincere thanks to all of you who took the time to comment. You mentioned proteins and fats. That got me thinking.... I don't eat enough of them so perhaps I'm not satisfying my body. Also, I don't feel hungry during the day so don't eat very much then so when I get home I'm really hungry. Today I had a "normal lunch" (2…

Nina, I could have written your post. I'm hardly ever hungry for breakfast. I used to try to eat then because we're told we should, but it just added extra calories on to my day and didn't help control my eating later. I still ate just as much. I do just fine with lunch and dinner. I'm under my calorie allowance and go to…

Thank you, trita. It's a lifelong journey, you know. It only ends when our life is over. But it's not that bad. I'm getting used to eating less and eating more nutritious food... and being more active. I need to get more sleep though.......... I'm working on it.

I know what you mean.... People who haven't seen me since spring almost always comment on my weight loss whereas the ones who see me everyday don't notice the change so much. The compliments really encourage me to continue on my mission. Congrats to you!!!!

I like your simple approach, and it’s now my new goal too. Congrats to you and thanks for posting this!

I weigh daily even if I don't like what the number is. I know there will be fluctuations due to so many variables... like when and what you ate last... how much you had to drink close to bedtime, constipation, hormones, etc. But weighing daily keeps me mindful of the mission I'm on and keeps me walking on the healthy path…

Dear Amanda, I feel your pain. Although it wasn't MY wedding, I had to lose about 20 pounds to get into a dress I had custom ordered. It was too small when it arrived and there wasn't any feasible way to do alterations. I too have a one hour commute (both ways) so I'm gone for at least 11 hours of the day. I'm in a hurry…

Dawn, I think your "secret" is the slow weight loss and then maintaining for a while before losing more. This doesn't give the body a chance to go into starvation mode and kick out the appetite hormones (ghrelin, leptin and insulin to name a few). A fast weight loss is doomed. The body fights back and you don't win. I lost…

Wonderful, Debra!!!! :) I look forward to being mutually supportive!

Well, my first instinct was to say, "Don't go!!!!" But then.... all kidding aside..... You're taking the cruise to have fun and perhaps you won't stick to your diet perfectly, but that's OK. One week is not going to destroy you when there are 51 more weeks in the year to be "good". I've been on many cruises and came back…

Well, I'm an older lady (60ish). Most everyone appears older than me. Anyone want to befriend this ole lady? It's taken me two years to lose 41 pounds (I was 252 and am 211 now). I'm 5'7" and want to get down to 152. That would mean a 100 pound weight loss!!!! I'm very determined to accomplish this and then to maintain the…

I'm new to MFP and I want to tell everyone who posted how much I enjoyed this post and their comments. I lost 68 pounds pretty fast back in 2009-2010 and then put back on 80. I don't blame myself for the weight gain.... It was inevitable as appetite hormones kick in after a large and quick weight loss. I was so hungry I…

You are an inspiration to me!

Thanks, verptwerp! I appreciate your comment. I'm not only interested in the weight loss but to keep it off.... THAT is what I'm after. I lost 68 pounds quickly back in 2010 and put back on 80! I can't let that happen again. Slow and easy is the way I believe. How are YOU doing?
