  • I grow Plumeria trees. Some are very slow growing and might take years before you see any blooms, but when they do, you have the prettiest and most fragrant blossoms you could find anywhere. You might have seen these before as they’re used to make beautiful Hawaiian leis. I get so impatient and want them to bloom right…
  • @jan110144 ... You have a lot going on.... Good for you. I love the poodles' birthday party! Have fun!
  • I'm really happy to be here among like-minded people. I believe we all understand that it's not just about losing weight but improving our health, and we consistently keep at it. We know it's a long journey... for the rest of our lives, but we choose to follow our healthy course. There are ups and downs, and that's to be…
  • I've been busy fertilizing and repotting plants this week. I'm slower than molasses as I have to be careful of my injured knee. Of course, pain limits my movements but according to what I've read, I shouldn't completely rest my knee all day or the muscles would atrophy. But I'm getting a few things accomplished and that…
  • @KeriA ... Glad you found us! I retired at age 73 for health reasons. I loved my work but physically couldn't manage working so much. Wasn't getting enough sleep and not eating well. I've since lost 68 pounds and feel so much better. I enjoy grocery shopping and planning my meals. I gave my employer my all but now I'm…
  • @jonni82014 ... I hear you! There are days when I eat what I want of food I know is good for me and don't give much thought as to the number of calories or how often I'm eating. It feels good. I also don't weigh for a few days. Later, I get back on track, start weighing daily again and "tighten up".
  • @jan110144 ... Love your walking partner! She's beautiful!
  • @jan110144 ... Loved your post!
  • I'm happy to say my knee is getting better. Much less inflammation and pain and only needing to use the cane. Once it completely heals, I'm going to be more careful with it and work on building up my lower body strength, Thanks for your concern. I've been losing on the average of 1 pound @ week for the past couple of…
  • @jan110144 ... I like how you're progressing into "intuitive" eating. That's a far cry from being on a diet. You know what to eat.... Don't need to obsess over it and make healthy eating a chore. Good for you! I found any movement hurts the knee so I need to completely rest it for a few more days. It's driving me crazy as…
  • I sprained my knee. There's swelling below the knee and towards the inside. Pretty sure it's the MCL ligament. It's very painful to walk on so I'm resting it a lot and using a cane and a walker to get around... even that is terribly painful. I hope this doesn't last long as I need to be active.
  • @DianeSpenny ... Welcome and please don't feel embarrassed. We're all in the same boat. I've spent my life dieting and now have finally come across an eating plan/lifestyle that I can live with. Lost 68 pounds gradually over 3 years. Some came back on, but I'm getting it back off now. I feel so much better. I know my body…
  • @MaryBethB54 ... Welcome to our group
  • @jonni82014 ... I'm so proud of myself when I'm out and about and resist eating out. Like you, I know it's kept me on my plan and saved money. Congrats on 11 nights of no late night snacking. That's one I'm working on too.
  • @ssfx50 ... Welcome! I couldn't maintain keto either so I mostly do low carb now. I have a sensible amount of protein and only eat whole foods. I used to have CKD 3 but my kidneys are normal now. The doctor was amazed. I hope to see more of your posts and we will encourage you.
  • @jonni82014 ... What a remarkable story! I wonder how she's doing now.
  • @jonni82014 ... Thanks for that fabulous picture! It must have been an awesome sight to witness in person!

  • @Mspkmk ... That must have really been spectacular! Glad you got to see it. I saw pictures but it's sure not the same thing as actually being there.

  • @jan110144 ... Congrats on that tremendous weight loss and I bet you feel a lot better too. Tell us later about the eclipse!

  • I weigh everyday and, like we've all experienced, I get a little down if my weight seems to be stagnating and/or not dropping like I'd like. A lot of times it's even up. So now I've begun subtracting the lowest from the highest over the past month and that's how many pounds I've lost and that makes me feel a lot better.…

  • @jan110144 ... Very good! It's beautiful today too in Central Florida. I injured my knee so am using a cane and walker for a while. I want to do so much more than Ican right now. I hope and prsy it heals soon. Sounds like Day 6 was as near perfect as it gets. Keep up the good work!

  • @jonni82014 ... Thanks for that quote from Dr. Kellyanne.

  • @jonni82014 ... "We are so much more than bodies. We are also spiritual and energetic beings. And our health and weight are directly related to the environment we are in" Thank you for that quote. I've written it down to remind me. I agree. For good health, it's necessary to balance the physical, mental and spiritual. When…

  • @jan110144 ... I'm really happy to see you posting every day. Sounds like you're doing everything right. Keep up the good work! I've tried melatonin and it didn't faze me. I've got in the habit of staying up late, watching old black and white movies and sleeping in, but I manage to get 7-8 hours of sleep in the end. Most…

  • @anthol1740 ... Absolutely NOT TOO LATE! So happy you've decided to focus on your health. There's so much we can do even at our age. I've been working on my plan for 3 years and am sure I've added many more years to my life plus the past 3 years have been good ones, getting rid of kidney disease and diabetes. The doctors…

  • @jan110144 ... You definitely are starting out strong. Congrats! Sometimes I eat over my calorie limit, but it doesn't bother me as long as the food was whole, healthy foods. As far as sleep, that's a huge issue. Trying not to take a sleeping pill but then it's sometimes 5 in the morning before I start to get sleepy. I can…

  • @nsk1951 ... I like your April goal of getting outdoors more. I'm trying to do that too. I have plants to attend to outside, and if I didn't, I'd probably stay inside with the air conditioning and do nothing. Getting outside connects me with nature and makes me feel more alive!
  • @jan110144 ... Welcome. This is a new group and one I look forward to coming to everyday. Women our age often give up on their weight, especially after a lifetime of battling the bulge... but it's more than the weight issue... our health, the quality of our lives and longevity depends on our addressing the issue. I've lost…
  • To stay motivated, I like to record numbers, make charts and graphs to measure my weight loss progress. I like to see that I'm heading in the right direction even if it's at a slower pace than I'd like. The main thing I tell myself is I'm getting healthier since I'm not following the SAD (Standard American Diet) and what I…
