I enjoyed reading all your comments. Had no idea how far north most of you are. I'm sure that makes it difficult to be active in the winter. I lived in Iowa for a year and couldn't bear the cold or being "shut in" during winter. Gave up a good job and got myself back home to Florida as fast as I could. @Joy1580vb ... Your…

Good to see all the updates. I thought we'd lost our group. 'm going to try to be active here. It helps for me to be with other ladies my age as we experience a lot of the same challenges. @Joy1580vb ... Hope you had a happy birthday. Steak dinner is always a good treat! I know what you mean about gardening. I had planned…

What a day!!! I woke up to someone knocking on my door.... Seems 3 golf carts were stolen during the night. Thank God they didn't steal mine. (I use it everyday to haul plants around). It was easily assessable on the driveway but doesn't go in reverse so maybe they tried but found it didn't work. (Glad I didn't get it…

Where is everybody? I hope this group doesn't dry up as so many others do. Please participate. Say something about how/what you're doing! I worked all day in the yard. Lord knows how many calories I burned... Now I'm very tired and probably won't do much tomorrow. Have some good books to read (see above)... so may just…

@jan110144 ... My books arrived. DIET SURVIVOR'S HANDBOOK by Judith Matz and Ellen Frankel... and INTUITIVE EATING by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. I especially like the handbook. I'm going to try this new approach and see what happens. I'm too old to be this fat. Need to get rid of it and improve the quality of whatever…

@jonni82014 ... Yes.... my plumeria "farm" keeps me sane. It makes me HAVE to get out of the house and otherwise, I wouldn't. I'd just lay around, eat and watch TV and my weight would go up and my health would go down. But there's always something to do... repotting, trimming, fertilizing, rooting new plants, organizing…

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY FRIENDS!

@jonni82014 ... Good job on the walking. After my knee injury, I'm having to go slow but I'm working on it. Happy Mother's Day. I sell to people in my Plumeria group but have given some thought to selling to retailers. Here's a real pretty one. I have over 250 and 150 different varieties.

Like this? Hope you had a nice walk!

I've been real tired and stayed inside the past few days so I'm making myself get out of the house today. Going to a cat show (I love cats) about 30 miles away. My knee is still weak from the injury so will bring my cane for balance. I think walking around will be good for me and it will be a lot of fun. I hope everyone…

@jan110144 ... I can't figure out how to post a picture. I tried for an hour the other day and then threw in the towel.

I was just thinking.... What would have happened instead of losing some of that weight I regained last year, if I had continued to gain? It would have been so easy. Sometimes we beat ourselves up over our "slips" but we should congratulate ourselves on our victories.

@nsk1951 ... I have trouble with night-time snacking too.... Even if I have my one meal late in the day, I get unbearably hungry right before I go to sleep. I try to control myself and if I cave in, I eat something healthy... but I'm still eating and know I'd lose weight better and my health would benefit from not having…

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm back out at it.... Fertilizing and repotting plumerias. They're starting to come out of winter dormancy and putting out leaves and blooms. It's a very exciting time of the year for us gardeners. Fortunately, we've had a lot of sunny days which promotes growth and gives me time to do what…

Today I reviewed my weights since 09/02/23 when I was at my all time low and when my appetite started to kick in and get the best of me. I was faminous. Over the course of 5 months, I gained back 33 pounds, roughly half of what it took me 2 years to lose. I was determined to get back to where I was so 3 months ago, I went…

@jan110144 ... I had to google Huli Huli Chicken. Sounds delicious and will plan to make it in the future. I think it would be great paired up with Caribbean rice... just can't eat too much of the rice. I had a good night's sleep last night which is cause for celebration as it happens so infrequently. Looking forward to…

@jan110144 ... I understand about when you get out of your normal routine. Same here. And I also agree that instead of late-night grazing, just plan a mini meal of the right foods and let that be it. I'll remind myself of that too as I stay up late (insomnia) and have trouble with late night eating, especially if I haven't…

@jonni82014 ... Thank you. I'm sure he's just concerned and loves me.... and I AM trying.

My son got on my case the other day. A month ago I hurt my knee (almost healed now) and also recently got a UTI. He gave me a lecture about my weight. Said in the past when I lost down to merely being overweight (Don't want to divulge the number), that I was so much healthier, had more energy and was out and about more and…

@jan110144 .... Don't feel bad to have an "off" day and at least you ate good food. Your body might have needed it. BTW, I ordered 2 books on IE. I can't wait to read them.

@jonni82014 ... Knee's getting better, mostly just sore, not what I'd call pain really... so it's healing. I keep using my leg muscles as I can't let the muscles atrophy and I've progressed from the rolling walker to a cane for balance. The knee is weak and I could easily fall. Thank for asking. BTW, I have around 250…

My knee's getting better in spite of myself... Been working on repotting plumerias. Hard work... Can't imagine how many calories I've burned but I'll take all the ones I can get! lol. I use a rolling walker to get around and sometimes put a pot on the seat to roll it to where it needs to go. "Where there's a will, there's…

I've been "going at it" outside with my plumerias but I feel the need for a break today. Might do a little housework, or not. Tomorrow will be another outside day so I need to be well rested. 4 more days to the end of the month, and I need to work on dropping another pound or two. (I always record the lowest weight for the…

Worked out in the yard all day... Repotting and fertilizing plumerias, weeding, etc. It took me a long time because I had to use a walker due to my bad knee. Almost fell twice but was able to catch myself. I'm going to have to be more careful. It's bad enough to have an injured knee... I sure don't need a fractured hip!

I grow Plumeria trees. Some are very slow growing and might take years before you see any blooms, but when they do, you have the prettiest and most fragrant blossoms you could find anywhere. You might have seen these before as they’re used to make beautiful Hawaiian leis. I get so impatient and want them to bloom right…

@jan110144 ... You have a lot going on.... Good for you. I love the poodles' birthday party! Have fun!

I'm really happy to be here among like-minded people. I believe we all understand that it's not just about losing weight but improving our health, and we consistently keep at it. We know it's a long journey... for the rest of our lives, but we choose to follow our healthy course. There are ups and downs, and that's to be…

I've been busy fertilizing and repotting plants this week. I'm slower than molasses as I have to be careful of my injured knee. Of course, pain limits my movements but according to what I've read, I shouldn't completely rest my knee all day or the muscles would atrophy. But I'm getting a few things accomplished and that…

@KeriA ... Glad you found us! I retired at age 73 for health reasons. I loved my work but physically couldn't manage working so much. Wasn't getting enough sleep and not eating well. I've since lost 68 pounds and feel so much better. I enjoy grocery shopping and planning my meals. I gave my employer my all but now I'm…

@jonni82014 ... I hear you! There are days when I eat what I want of food I know is good for me and don't give much thought as to the number of calories or how often I'm eating. It feels good. I also don't weigh for a few days. Later, I get back on track, start weighing daily again and "tighten up".
