  • You absolutely can do it! I had given up too but starting to eat according to the Intermittent Fasting way turned my life around and improved my health by 100%. I recommend that you read all you can about IF and watch the videos by Dr Jason Fung and Dr Pradip Jamnadas on YouTube. Best wishes! Feel free to friend me if…
  • jmjanne1, I'm so glad you're inspired. YOU CAN DO IT! Sometimes hearing how someone else was in our shoes and managed to overcome is all it takes to motivate us to do the same thing. I love reading how people lost AND MAINTAINED their weight loss. I think maintaining is the most important thing. I'm still holding at -60…
  • It most definitely is!
  • Yes. IF and a good wholesome whole foods diet works for me and is sustainable.
  • CONGRATULATIONS! What was your plan? How did you do it? How long did it take?
  • Thank you, Olivia. I was hoping it would inspire others.
  • No, cmriverside. Not exactly the same, but I'm flattered that you're following my posts. I agree.... the next 40 pounds are the hardest as I'm finding out. I've lost a lot of weight multiple times over the past 50 years, even as much as 68 pounds on calorie deficit diets but could never keep the pounds off. It will soon be…
  • It took me 9 months to work up from 2 meals a day to OMAD. I've lost 60 pounds and my health has dramatically improved since then. My blood work is perfect. I'm no longer diabetic, and I have more energy than ever. I follow the scientific advice of Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Pradip Jamnadas and feel resting my digestive system…
  • Plan and prepare your meals ahead of time and limit yourself to 1-2 healthy meals a day (High protein/low carb whole foods) and don't snack between meals. When you feel a little hunger and it's not time to eat, get busy and do something you're passionate about to distract yourself from eating.
  • I just sent you a friend request
  • I agree with you. This was not a scientific study. Ate age 76 (birthday today), I feel better than ever, have lost and kept off 60 pounds. Every part of my body is healthier, no more back pain, blood work is perfect, have tons of energy and am sure I'll live a longer life as a result.
  • It really is. Impaired mobility (and balance which is a part of it) is why people fall. My health is so good now but a broken hip would signal doom for me. I love getting around on my own and I my legs are getting stronger every day.
  • Me too. I'm so excited about IF that I tell everybody about it. It's the only "plan" that has ever worked for me and is something I can live with. It's improved my health 100%. I go about my day not thinking about food but plan and prepare my dinner for later. I eat healthy whole foods that are completely satisfying. I…
  • Thank you. I was just sharing my story.
  • Excellent! You must be so proud of yourself! I find it amazing how long I can go without food. Sometimes I think about food but it's more in the context of a passing thought... like maybe I'm bored and looking for something to do. Not real hunger. My night time cravings are getting under control too but still something I'm…
  • That's what I'm talking about. I had given up on EVER dieting again and had resigned myself to being "morbidly obese" for the rest of my life even though I saw my health declining rapidly. Somehow, I discovered IF and it's worked miracles for me. Like you said, I've been able to keep the weight off and that's something I…
  • You're doing great!!! I'm 76 years old and do well to walk. 2 years ago I was bedbound and could hardly make it to the bathroom. Had severe back pain, a torn meniscus and was depressed. All that has changed now due to IF.
  • It took me 18 months. That sounds slow but the weight has stayed off, and I've been eating a regular diet of good whole foods with occasional splurges during my eating window. I'm not very hungry throughout the day. I eat once around 5 PM but sometimes have a bedtime snack (some protein or cottage cheese) if I get the…
  • Thank you! The difference in me is incredible. It's like I'm not even the same person and I like the new me so much better! It's not a matter of the weight loss... It's how I feel. Because I have new healthy cells and the old ones get detoxified all the time, my body is healthier. I really don't think I could be any…
  • Congratulations to you too! The main thing is resting the digestive process for a while so the body can use the energy and time to do the important work of cleaning out old cells and making new ones. That's what we are... Just a bunch of cells. So improving cell manufacturing and repairing the old ones makes us healthier.
  • Excellent! IF is really a game changer. It's improved my life by 100%. I have so much energy and enthusiasm that my younger friends and family members have a hard time keeping up with me... lol
  • I had IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for years with really bad diarrhea. Then when I started IF, it continued for a while. Now everything is normal and what a relief it is. Seems that my gut bacteria has improved and has made me regular. But I understand it's common to have a change in bowel habits in the beginning so hang…
  • I suppose there are people that would not be able to forgo eating for an extended period of time, even though we know the body would kick in and provide energy from fat storage. I'm not sure how much is psychological versus physiological. Glad you have found success. I too couldn't maintain IF on 1200 calories a day.
  • Very good! 1200 calories might be a little too low though. In the long run, it might trigger your hunger hormone ghrelin and make managing hunger much more difficult.
  • You might want to extend your time to 17:7 and then to 18:6. I usually do 20:4. As far as eating, I eat high protein/low carb. I don't measure, weigh or count calories but avoid (as much as possible) processed foods, anything with flour, commercially fried foods, potatoes, rice, beans and peas, sugar and most fruits as…
  • That's exactly what I'm talking about! I believe it will work for everyone but I suppose there could be an exception or two. I'm certain I've added years to my life by adopting an IF lifestyle but even better than that, I can finally live a full life again. I have tons of energy, am out and about and my much younger…
  • Excellent! You and I are living proof that this new way of eating (which is really the old way) works. It's the way our bodies were designed to eat. It's natural. Starving yourself on a low calorie diet isn't. Congratulations!
  • Great question. I feel hunger while fasting but not like on a calorie restricted diet. It was pretty intense in the beginning and I had a dull headache for days, but I learned that the hunger passes and you feel better. You even have a lot of energy. Now after all this time, the hunger I feel is very mild and passes…
  • Hmmmm..... interesting comment. I believe in giving the body a rest from the digestive process so it can spend that energy and time on building new cells and repairing the old. I try to allow 16 hours of "rest" before eating again. Perhaps that reduces the number of calories I burn and that's all to the good. I don't…
