If that is what it recommends as your calorie goal, try it out for a month. If you are not losing weight at the rate you expect, then change your calorie goal. What you are given by MFP is an estimation which you can then refine after experience.
-
What does MFP recommend as your calorie intake to lose weight, when you plug in your numbers? Regarding exercise, usually better to take the lower estimation. Exercise calories can be overstated on MFP.

As it's not typical, don't worry about it. Some days you feel hungrier than others. If you eat low today, you can eat high another day when you are hungrier. It usually balances out.

I don't know either, but there are many entries for moussaka, so try another one that may be easier to follow? There are some entries for it which specify weight in grams or cups.

Hiya :) Below is a link to food ideas for fast days in this forum: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10003945/fasting-day-fd-recipe-ideas-lunch-and-dinner/p1 What I tend to do is eat very close to what I would ordinarily eat but in small portions. Some days I just don't want to think about it so I'll eat a…

Try to eat simply when at a restaurant and then make your best guess. Avoid food with sauces and heavy dressings. It will become easier to guess as you become more proficient at recognising how much food weighs by sight from weighing food at home. I'm getting pretty good at guessing how much my chicken or steak weighs…

I used to gain evenly, but in the last five years I've developed an upper tummy bulge which I really loathe and didn't have in the past. I'm told this is an age thing.

I'm more aware of food that has added salt or sugar. If I eat a sugary dessert I literally start to giggle while eating it. I had an eton mess a couple weeks ago (broken up meringue, whipped cream, strawberries, all mixed together) and reeeeeeeeeeeeally enjoyed it.

Yes, it's okay. Some days you will feel more hungry than others. Save those calories for a hungry day when you want to eat more than your usual calorie goal.

I think you've been given some great advice throughout this thread and I would second these two recommendations: 1) Looking at a weekly calorie total so you can bank some calories on one day to be able to enjoy a higher amount of calories on another day. 2) Intermittent fasting so that your meals are eaten in a shorter…

How often are you weighing yourself and do you use a trend graph to log your weight? I find that when I hit a few weeks of my weight bouncing up and down rather than steady loss and I know I'm still eating according to my goals, the trend graph keeps me sane as it smoothes out the ups and downs. I also second the advice on…

Not tried it, but it sounds interesting. I guess it's really the same theory as mindful eating but with a wedge of science put in to gauge hunger. Not sure I would try this though as I'm not looking to do daily blood glucose tests ... I'm learning to recognise hunger through doing 5:2 fasting - it's helped me distinguish…

Last week, I was out for dinner with visiting family. I ordered a steak and it came with a side of fries. Now, I knew I would be eating those fries, but before I emptied the side dish of fries onto my plate, I offered them around the table - no one else had ordered steak so I was the only one with fries - and when the dish…

If you are looking where to cut back, perhaps you could have a slightly smaller breakfast? Currently you have double portions of quakers oats, and on some mornings triple portions. 40 grams or half a cup is the more usual portion size. Regarding the amount of calories which should be your daily goal, bear in mind that the…

I had a good FD yesterday. Your new gadget sounds intriguing, Flumi ^^ Sorry, I have no advice to offer flossy as I'm doing hardly any exercise these last couple months so have yet to experience a fast day on a day with a lot of exercise. It does sound very frustrating though :(

Bingo! Congrats on your weight loss and on maintaining since then. I think having an exit plan is the key for everyone who loses weight if the plan they are following to lose weight is not something they would continue to follow after hitting their target - whether it be a specific diet that comes with a title, or not. I…

I do this by following an intermittent fasting plan, where for two days a week you 'fast' (actually you just eat a low amount of calories) and for the other five days you eat roughly at maintenance. For me this is working out that on a 'fast day' I'm eating around 500 cals - with my meals being based around English…

Sounds like a habit to me, rather than your body craving some missing nutrient. I also stand in line with those who have a dessert after dinner. I enjoy it, eat it slowly late evening, and think of it as my late snack (to stop my mind thinking ooh I'll have a snack later on). My current fave is a medium size banana sliced…

I know it's tough and this is going to sound trite, but in a year's time you will be so pleased that you didn't give up. I gave up around the end of February and restarted near the end of June and I've been mentally kicking myself for that. Push through the plateau, start to weigh your food when logging and try to be…

Cool to hear you had a good FD, dry! I hope the doctor can sort out your problem. I had a pretty easy FD on Monday and will have my second tomorrow (Thurs). I've switched my fast day menu from one large meal at the end of the day to having three small meals of porridge instead - mid afternoon, early evening, late evening.…

Yes, it gets easier. But it does take a while. At the moment all you are thinking about is food because you are super aware that you are trying to eat to a reduced calorie intake, but it will become more routine and easier. Take it one day at a time. Don't beat yourself up if you mess up one day, but just restart the next…

I'm a bit confused as to why you posted here in the first place. This forum is for general diet and weight loss help from the MFP community. But you seem to not be wanting any help and are on the contrary very content with what you have decided to do.

Sorry to hear that you've not been feeling well, ACSL.

It really does depend on the individual. Things to consider include whether you have been on a diet before. By that I mean have you tried eating at 2600 cals a day before for a long time. Diets work when there is a continued adherence to them. You want to avoid the situation of starting enthusiastically but then give up…

To lose weight. Initially the primary reason was to do with vanity - I really don't like how I look. But now the primary reason is shifting over to be more about wanting to be at a healthy weight.
-
I would suggest just spending a week eating what you would ordinarily eat, and logging it all as accurately as possible. This will get you used to using the database, the recipe builder and so on, as well as starting to develop the habit of logging and finding out your own methods of logging/weighing stuff. It will also…

Yikes! I would have freaked out!

*hugs* Now, an intelligent woman like you knows what I'm about to say without me saying this, but I'm going to anyway! This is part of your mother's job. Try to remember she loves you! It may be that she's wanting to spare you from the medication she's having to take, but probably said it all wrong! That said, I get your…

How long have you been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds?

Hello all, been here a while and looking to add a few more to my friends list. In particular British women in their 40s who have around 50 pounds to lose ^^
