  • I have lost 30lbs on a few occasions, and once I lost 55. Things you did at 30 aren't as easy at 50. My latest attempts at a getting on a workout schedule were thwarted by joint pain. I was pretty much resined to being tired, overweight and unhappy. So randomly (and probably in desperation) I started the keto diet which I…
  • I have been doing keto for six weeks and I am down 20lbs. After only a few days of keto I had far greater energy. Everything seemed to be a struggle before, and now I look for things to do. After 3 days, I dropped my candy fetish entirely (yea it's hard to believe for me too). I am now in much less pain in my joints, which…
  • That is fantastic! You look amazing. I started keto about 6 weeks ago, and I am down 20lbs. I have read that the diet is good for epilepsy and even Alzheimer's. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your story. I hope it helps others out there struggling with these issues.
  • I wish calories in/calories out were true. It would be so much easier to lose weight, and more importantly keep it off. Insulin, Insulin resistance, set point all are there to make sure that even if we do lose some, we just gain it right back. Folks like Dr Jason Fung, Dr Berg and several others explain all this very well.…
  • I like variety, so I don't worry too much about steps. I use it more for letting me know when I have been sitting too long. I cycle, lift weights and throw in sit ups and burpee's, etc. I like the activity monitor just as a constant reminder that I need to watch what I eat and be moving.
  • The rewards are many, but not always obvious. I loved the side by side face pictures that I saw in another thread. I am sure folks didn't realize the changes going on at the moment. You just won't hardly notice weight loss day by day. Someone who hasn't seen you for a few months will definitely notice. Another…
  • I need to lose 50 also. I am down about 5 at the moment. Keep it up!
  • I play Wow, have for years, but won't admit it. I played every version of Diablo and played Guild Wars too plus a few dozen others. I have worked in IT for 20 years. Everyone brings me their computer after they have it so filled with viruses it won't run ;-) I love SF/Fantasy. Not a Dr Who fan. It was just a little too…
  • Just think about where you have been. You are 5 lbs down. At least you have a good start, and you care enough to be upset. That is a much better attitude than having a binge days in a row and not caring. You can easily make up for it with a few days of exercise and staying on target. You got this!
  • 7lbs is a great start! I am down about 5 and doing well except for today. I have been working out for two weeks straight, and I don't have any part of me left that isn't totally sore. I am feeling guilty but I think I'll give myself a break today. Keep it up!
  • Nice job so far, 16lbs is a lot! Keep it going!
  • Try a fitness tracker. They have some that are inexpensive. In addition to MFP, it will be just one more thing helping to push you to your goal. Some have a reminder when you have been sitting too long. It is fun to track your progress. So far, I am down 5 lbs and it has been easy. MFP is keeping me honest and I know where…
  • I am looking to lose 50. I am down about 5 so far. You can do it!
  • Wow, great job! Keep up the good work!
  • It is a strange line between fat, lazy and not caring, to inspired and motivated. What helped me cross the line was being sick and tired of being sick and tired. My new vivofit 2 is helping to keep me motivated. It is definitely getting me moving. Keeping track of my calories here is key for sure. Just "trying to eat…
  • When I was about 35 I completely transformed myself in 90 days. People were shocked. Get a system and go after it 100% I just found Jeff Cavaliere and I love that he is a PT and keeps you from getting hurt. If you can't afford his 90 day program, just check out all his youtube videos. You can do it!
  • The above is a nice response. I think you would be strange if you weren't too impatient. Get yourself an activity tracker. It will help you measure your movement from one day to the next. Many are really inexpensive. It helps you keep your mind on the goal. You will start finding ways to add steps like parking further away…
  • It feels good to be strong, so why not! Nothing feels better than watching someone struggle to lift something and then you say "let me help you with that", lol. Best of luck!
  • I am in a similar situation. Lost 50 a few years ago, got lazy and gained it all back. I am on almost week 3 and starting to lose again. Try to use MFP every chance you get and also get an activity tracker. It helps you keep your head in the game. I am loving mine. Good luck!
  • The only reason not to weigh every day is because it will fluctuate and you don't want to get discouraged by the lack of progress or even a regression for a single day. You may have done everything right but not see what you expect. We are not machines. A weekly measurement though should definitely show progress in the…
  • Me too, keep it up! Something is better than nothing. No excuses!
  • When I am feeling low, I blast some music that motivates me. Crank up a "Turn Down For What", and it is hard to stand still. Get someone else involved, a friend, a relative, a coworker. Hopefully you have off days that don't collide and you can motivate each other even if you are not in the same area. Good Luck!
  • I just picked up a fitness tracker a week ago, and it is awesome. I find myself parking further away to add steps, taking walks at lunch and after work, and intentionally taking the long way to places, etc. With MFP, I track my calories so I am not guessing. I don't think you need a "diet" to lose weight. Track your…
  • Great job on not only getting it off but keeping it off for 4 years! I lost 50 for a year then bought a house and spent a year remodeling it. I got too busy & tired to exercise (read lazy) and fix healthy meals. Consequently here I am back at it trying to do it all over again. It is one struggle to get it off, and an…
