I like butter for taste in my coffee and coconut oil in my steel cut oatmeal. So both get some breakfast action!

Counting calories eventually gets to be critical Low carb and lower calories has gotten me to single digit body fat at certain times of the year

Just experiment and log food Activity requires fuel Food is fuel It is that simple really Good luck!

If you do straight up HIIT, as in 100% of your max heart rate, usually people have a day to recover. Sometimes people interval train at 90% max heart rate and call it HIIT. A HIIT workout would be something like this Sprint all out max effort for 15 seconds. 1:45 jog and recover. Do 8 cycles of that Seems really easy since…

Triathlon shorts have compression panels which help muscle fatigue and usually have two small pockets over each butt cheek to put gel packs. Can't advocate those enough. Over 10 miles those things make a difference. The runners belt with the expanding pouch works. If you run early in the morning and use a reflective band…

Best bike one hour time ever and did it with no carb drinks Empty stomach except for 2 cups of coffee. 27.3 mph

I think it does make me feel bad Unless I burn it off it makes me lethargic after a while Odd really... sugar is a high octane fuel for intense exercise, but if I don't exercise it makes me feel sluggish
-
Plan to burn it off I eat what I want before long exercise events It is just fuel you are consuming. If it is sugar or starchy carbs you can plan to burn it off. No harm no foul, just fueling your body.

I use my carbs for strenuous exercise or endurance training I get them for long bike rides from a snickers bar or something I want. A 3 hour ride burns about 2100 calories. I may eat two candy bars and two protein bars and still have a 1000 calorie deficit All the carbs get burnt off Carbs are high octane fuel. Unless I am…

Calories count Eating more veggies fills my stomach on fewer calories so it seems like limitless eating It is possible to break any diet and gain weight. It is harder on low carb but it can be done
-
MFP calorie burn numbers are wildly wrong. I use my Garmin and MFP for running and then Garmin and Map My Ride for bike rides. I cross check with runners world MFP will give 2700 calories for a run, Garmin around 1300, and runners world about 1000 I would gain weight eating back the exaggerated calorie burn numbers from…

I try to eat low carb up to a calorie limit. I feel more full with the fibrous veggies in low carb. Calories, as in units of fuel I consume, always matter. I can break any diet plan by eating too much. Low carb makes it easier to feel full smdbinge less. When I want to cut 10 pounds before a race or event, I watch calories

When I would get stuck or get really hungry, I made myself stuff down veggies. It just worked. It was lower calorie by far that nuts for fat bombs, and worked for me

Reaching goal is just the start of a new chapter, or hopefully many new chapters! I have taken on a few new hobbies that are fitness related. It is easier to go do fun things. I hiked to a nice waterfall yesterday and enjoyed a great day with a friend. Once reaching a weight goal for fitness goal, I don't see why we don't…

Beef jerky and quest bars are my quick go to things to stay on track I do eat like a cave man but simple works for me

My journey has been 3 years long. Year one was mainly diet and exercise that was walking and very light work at the gym Year two was more of the same lower carb diet but more cardio and better and better blood tests. I was dropping off that higher blood pressure, elevated glucose level, and burning off more calories with…

People treat you differently It causes a good and negative feeling all at the same time. It is nice to feel body confident and like yourself. It also brings out a resentment on being treated as though you were somehow less than, when over socially acceptable weight

Fat burning zone claims and metabolic damage hype, as well as starvation mode talk all falls under the umbrella of hype in my book A couple pounds a week can work for me. I won't be making muscle mass gains or I won't have any super fast rides or run times, but the machine will work at 85% capacity from normal levels.…

What a great thread! All the success stories make this an awesome group!

I have helped a few people train. For new people to lifting I would say not to lift for a few days and let your muscles recover. Lifting tears them down. You need sleep to let them rebuild and adequate calories, not a big bump. There is a form of exercise called "recovery cardio". It is basically very low grade cardio to…

It is amazing that low carb would not be intuitive for diabetes.

Congrats!!!

I usually get 50 to 125 grams of carbs per day. I like to do a bit of exercise and that keeps my usable carbs in my bloodstream (glucose) lower. The less active I am the fewer carbs I need. Carbs are fuel for intense activity. Kind of like high octane fuel. If I'm not going to be doing some intense exercise, I let my carbs…

Sometimes that nice Diet Coke or Pepsi taste is just what I crave! I slam a few every once in a while. Seems to have not killed me yet. I don't claim to know what the supposed health risk is of 4 cans of Diet Coke a week though. So far so good! And oh yeah on A&W root beer IBC diet cream soda or root beer is yummy as well!

I have heard skipping meals can lead to binge eating when serious hunger hits later on Not so sure I believe that now. I may snack a small thing down if it has been a while but definitely don't pack. Full meal down just because the clock says it is a typical time to eat!

I run as part of triathlons I don't carb load but I eat carbs shortly before and during events or long training sessions

Eventually you may consider surgical removal of excess skin It will get in the way and become an irritant. Not cheap but after two years of weight loss I was glad I did it It isn't cheap but if you have lost lots of weight, the results are dramatic.

Any reward but food It was one of those things for me to eat as a reward so I had to break that I may buy new bike shorts, find a few songs on iTunes, go see a movie at the plush theater Something that has no calories!
