No wild motivations now. I have gotten I shape and hit lots of milestones as far as fitness challenges and things I wanted to do Now I'm just competing against myself and seeing how fit I can get. It is just a lifestyle and not a goal really I would like to have a better defined abdomen. But I know how to do it, just a…

I can get hungry and even hungover after an all out HIIT interval session of only 24 minutes. HIIT that is at 100% HRM is something I may only do once every two weeks. It is just taxing on the body. Granted it is great for breaking plateaus, but it comes at a cost of exerting extra will power the next day. I seem to think…

I eat more protein when I have a long workout normally. If I want to eat more carbs, it will be within an hour of exercise, provided I will be at 75% of my HRM for at least 90 minutes. That has worked pretty well for me. Drinking lots of water also helps to not confuse thirst after an hour or two of sweating outside in the…

The MFP calorie counts are crazy high!! I could gain weight eating my calories back Garmin Vivo active gave me 980 calories for a long bike ride. MFP called it 2200!! Eating an excess of 1300 calories would cause me to gain weight The calorie counts are rubbish in MFP

He understands you two have different bodies with different capabilities to burn carbs. So... His justifications for occasional carb spiked won't work for you. Pointing that out to him may be helpful but nothing takes the place of standing firm and saying no. I have had to get close to rude with people over diet choices.…

Cheese over crumbled hamburger in a romaine leaf wrap Mmmm yum. And I do love snacking on aged Gouda or Swiss

2 1/2 years in and about 130 fat pounds gone. Lower to moderate carb diet works easily. I get my carbs thru fibrous veggies and do the no added sugar or bread/pasta. It is quite sustainable. I'm just eating naturally occurring food. Like if it used to walk swim or grow. If it had to be butcher shop floor sweepings I don't…

I used to count what amounts to daily activity for a normally active person. Now that I am in the single digit pounds to lose or some friends say no pounds to lose zone, I can really only count straight up hard exercise. I used to do that and loved my fitness band. It was a great motivator. Anything to stay focused is good!

I have tried lots of low carb wraps The large leafs of romaine work for me now I guess I just gave up!

And then you have freaks like me. I exercise off glycogen and eat moderate carb but put my body in keto condition by physical effort. I like the open acceptance of the concept that there are many roads that lead to the Kroger grocery store. Today was a hard hour fast on the bike. On an empty stomach and I will have a big…

Increasing your distance or intensity too quickly in any exercise will cause soreness and often in new places. I like to do a short run and swim on the same day. If I run 5K then do my mile swim, I feel it differently in my back and shoulders than if I swim first and pre-exhaust my legs kicking. For core soreness I get…

Great job!

The only thing excess bacon does for me is give me too much sodium Love for bacon is strong but as long as it isn't tweaking your blood pressure then I would not worry! Bottom line for me is calories within reason and salt. I am on that last 15 lbs and calories matter more than when I was on my first 15 YMMV

12 hours per week of moderate to intense cardio
-
50-80 But the carbs come almost all from fibrous veggies that are fiber rich. So the net is arguably lower.

Calories matter for me I eat low carb and a couple days a week I will do a hard defecit related to exercise. It does help I ate heavy and lifted hard over the winter and added about 18 lbs. so far in two weeks I have lost 7 pounds of some water related to carbs. Dropping weight happens best for me when a few days are even…

I miss beer like I miss my 46 waist fat pants

It took me a while to change how I look at food. Not everyone thinks like I do so this is just my opinion Food is just fuel. I used to reward myself with food and have cheat meals I supposedly earned. Does my car ever earn the need to have crappy gasoline put in it for running great all month? That thought is silly on the…

You may also consider doing cardio to burn out your blood sugar. Not low intensity but 80% HRM level cardio. It uses the glycogen and lowering that is how you get to keto You can eat less carbs over time or add in cardio and get there quicker. When your blood sugar is depleted it is depleted no matter how you got there.…

Follow up So by eating veggies as a carb source we get those resistant starches? I do take a fiber tablet that has inulin. Hmmmm Lots of new things to research in the replies. Awesome group!!

I am looking at lowest glycemic impact carbs for endurance training. I do follow the fat adapted lifestyle and know it works. But... Carbs do provide a better burst energy and at times that is needed. My ride yesterday was 1:47 minutes and had a few segments over 25mph. I rode on a low carb day with nothing in me on the…

It is always a good time to refocus and let yourself know you can do it! Sometimes we need a break. Not a long break! Stay with what you know works. It will still work. A slip does not need to turn into a tail spin. What keeps me going? I like being fit now. 130+ pounds gone was way hard and long to lose. I have a life…

I have lost over 130 lbs of fat. Sometimes it was a double digit month and then others were Half that I used to check my blood glucose weekly and pulse/bp daily. It all continually got better month over month. I kept 1400-1700 calories of 80 or less carbs and some days felt hungry. In my case the occasional dragging butt…

Thanks for this post! I did not know about sugar alcohols!

I would love to vilify certain foods but if someone eats a slice of that cake it won't kill them. My problem was never the single piece of cake or pie. It was the 4th piece!!! But I can't get that ball rolling and fire up the sugar demons. So I will say, whatever works for you and pass.

Thank You for the replies! There are a few great grocery stores around the area and I will on some more higher fat food shopping I picked up a bit of the things mentioned here in the theead The infomercial for the books are well done so they seem great. As mentioned there are probably excellent books on Amazon that are…

5K may be a personal stretch but it isn't going to require any change in your eating. You will probably burn 500 calories and you have that stored in glycogen Just relax and enjoy the accomplishment ! Your body adapts to burn more fat as you are on a low carb lifestyle. So it will be fine! No need to worry at all. Good…

The app is rediculously high for long term activities like cycling. I will get 600 calories of burn per Garmin VivoActive using cadence, speed, and HRM inputs. Map My Ride will give me 1400 calories or so. My Fitness App calorie burn numbers are inflated.

You sure can! It isn't my best calorie burning or most intense exercise but it is an awesome change up from cycling and running. There is something awesome about swimming for core and general athletic strength. For overall balanced physique swimming bring something good to the table. I swim 1750 yards 3xWeekly. It isn't a…
