Of course as conversation flows other things are bound to be brought up. Apparently, you just decide to pop in when it's on a whole new level, allowing yourself to have the argument of a "thesis." This isn't a college essay, and if I wanted to hold a conversation like such I would do at my own choosing. Apparently a…

Not really? I'm NOT a pessimist about this site. I am glad it's helping people. I have yet to go to any of the people saying that it's working for them and telling them rude and negative things. My failure from this site doesn't make me hate this site, it doesn't make me hate the people who succeed. I don't honestly know…

No, I'm not saying nutrition is the only thing. Calorie intake DOES matter. However, calorie counting can turn into an obsession, anorexic people were doing it way before MFP existed. So, I guess people with disorders, or who might find themselves in a disorder after calorie counting, should seek nutrition, and guidance.…

And calorie counting was a large part of my failure.

And it's not the fault of calorie counting if you have success.

Yes, I am saying that the people who continuously try and fail using MFP, or any other calorie counting site/plan/etc should learn about and apply nutrition before taking on the calorie deficit. I am not saying that everyone should. You do not need a college class to learn about and apply nutrition, there are SEVERAL free…

It's easier for a person to start adding vegetables, and then fruits, and then healthier grains, and so on, to their diets...then it is for them to restrict their diets. (of course, some people don't like fruits and veggies, then that'd be a struggle, but I'm sure of all the vast nutritious foods, they could figure out…

I meant applying it. And it's easier to fail doing too many things at once, then doing it in smaller, more achievable steps.

Not my point at all, it's more harmful for the person to continuously give up on something, then it is for them to actually find a way so they can eat within a certain calorie target, and be healthy. I never said completely neglect health, or weight loss to achieve healthness. I said figure out HOW to be healthy and WHAT…

I fully agree that some users are able to learn nutrition through MFP. But, not all. But heres the thing, some people may come into MFP with an unhealthy diet which includes very little nutrition, so they eat large quantities of the food. Now, those people trying to calorie count and have a deficit, it's going to drive…

I've tried every supplement remotely close to the ones I find in Herbalfie, or now Omnihealth. I'm not talking vitamins, of course you can get them cheaper than any weight loss system sells them for, I'm talking about the appetite suppressants and such, which I've only found success in Herbalife or Omnihealth. I've bought…

My exact point in the fact that people should learn nutrition before attempting to calorie count? Remember when MFP would allow you to submit a calorie day under 1200? When you could per say, eat 400 calories, submit your diary and then it'd tell you that if "every day was today...you would be x weight by y day" How isn't…

Yes, I love Herbalife, I don't love the cost. For some people, it's not easy to just eat fewer calories. Herbalife always managed to allow me to eat a deficit that I couldn't do by myself, and I rarely followed the shake, I just took the pills, and occasionally the shake. I went to Walmart the other day and found out they…

Surely can, and while I'm doing that...why don't you perform a self-experiment.

Well, actually, if you do a little research on the interwebs, or open up a college textbook based on nutrition, from a child development course, to a actual health and fitness course, you will find that a calorie isn't just a calorie, and the different types break down differently. I mean, actually there is probably high…

Some mornings I mix a meal replacement powder with super greens powder and milk to keep me satisfied all day. I work in fast food, I'd rather drink a meal replacement shake that "Doesn't teach me how to eat" then to munch of fries all day. But, I don't use it as a means to keep my calorie intake extremely low, if I get…

Anything that has a calorie deficit will presumably result in weight loss. However, it has been proven that if you eat healthy vs unhealthy, consuming the same amount of calories in each diet, you will lose more from eating healthy. BUT, each will result in weight loss.

I think sometimes why we quit certain things, such as weight loss techniques, is because we just get bored of it. Find ways to make it fun if you start seeing yourself not liking it anymore. I also find calorie counting does me in, cause it's the same old calorie intake day after day, and I'm too focused on the number of…

Do you at least have another account? This one says your first "visit" is November 5 - I'm not sure if that's when you signed up or when you first visited the forums, but two months is likely not enough time to properly learn how to use a tool and incorporate it with your lifestyle, IMO [/quote] I've had a MFP account…

In response to all: I never said that CICO isn't the way to lose weight. I said, there's a lot more to it that would prohibit the weight loss only using the base of CICO. Yes, obviously there is going to be a loss of weight with any calorie deficit. However, there are PLENTY of people who stop calorie counting once they…

Calorie counting only teaches the counter to have a relationship with food on a basis of calorie intake. Meaning, they'd opt for unhealthy choices with low calories instead of healthy choices that will essentially fill them up longer. When I counted calories, I would consume the same old crap that made me gain weight in…
