  • I can't help you but I sympathize. Don't be too hard on yourself, and give yourself time. I've been using this app for less than six months, and I realized that although the numbers help, they can only be an estimation. Experiment with your body, and take the time to find what works best with you.
  • Where I come from, people believe olive oil is almost a medicine (think Mediterranean diet). I was also shocked when I started using MFP how many calories are in a table spoon. I will never believe people who claim that olive oil is unhealthy, but I did reduce my dose. Usually, I will "fry" my vegetables with a bit of…
  • Just had the same thought today as I was almost licking my plate. Well I made the effort to measure each ingredient with a digital scale, so I think I deserve each piece! ;-) If I am having a meal at my mother's though, I will definitely try to leave something on my plate, and I will know I ate too much anyway.
  • I always have oatmeal topped with a fruit. The fruit is always different though, depending I what exciting things my local supermarket has that week. This week it's mango and pineapple. It's a good week :-)
  • I just had a 2000 calories dinner with friends. Total of the day over 3000 calories. So yeah I know how you feel. I wish there was a magic eraser to undo what I did tonight, but there isn't. So I have to suck it up and try not to let it happen again.
  • I am trying to eat vegan but it's so hard to get enough proteins. My recent discovery of legumes has changed my life, but it's just so easy to open a tuna can, or add cottage cheese to the mix. I tried tofu but it wasn't a success. Also, I resist the idea of protein shakes.. for now.. All this to say, I am not vegan! but…
  • I think I would rather roll my eyes ;-)
  • I think we can all agree that, although fruits are very high in sugar the fiber and vitamins they bring along make it worth it (as opposed to "unnaturally" sweet foods). Personally I don't worry if I get a high intake of sugar from fruits. However, if you want to reduce sugar while keeping a good intake of fiber you can…
  • I love spinach with mushrooms and cream as a side dish. When at home, I replace the cream with a bit of coconut milk. Also yummy. Otherwise, soups are the way to go. Throw you elected leafy green with a potato, an onion and vegetable stock. You can top it with a little olive oil and some pumpkin/sunflower seeds. It changes…
  • Personally I love herb infusions. It's more interesting than water, it has no caffeine as opposed to tea, and it's zero calories! Peppermint and fennel are my favorites plus they help with digestion, apparently. Some people also like fruit or lemon infusions. It works with both hot and cold water. Give it a try!
  • I crave chocolate when I am a bit depressed. Just have some! I like dark chocolate because it's hard to eat too much of it at a time. But if I do finish the whole bar, I think well at least I won't be tempted tomorrow, and I go running or something. As the french say "the best way to resist temptation is to give in".
  • My boyfriend is well aware that I count calories and use myfitnesspal and he is very understanding. As soon as I showed him the stats, he stopped filling the house with chips and beer. However, as I feel a bit guilty that he had to change his habits because of me, I tend to make bigger and fattier meals and drink more than…
  • First of all: it's totally okay! No need to feel guilty or bad. Instead, you could ask yourself why it didn't work? Maybe you were too ambitious? How about doing baby-steps? Give yourself time. You will see changes little by little and that will motivate you to do more changes. Don't give up!
  • I think it's largely sufficient to work out on weekends as long as you eat the right way. Besides, I would bet that you spent more calories now than when you didn't have a job, because your level of activity and your stress may have increased. That burns calories too.
  • I have been trying a lot of new healthy foods lately, the type that I used to find too complicated or too long to cook. Today I'm cooking dry chickpeas! (One night soaking, 1 1/2 hour cooking). I intend to use some to make hummus and refrigerate the rest to use during the week.
  • My breasts are the first thing that show any sign of weight gain or weight loss. I personally don't mind when they get smaller, because I think smaller boobs are more beautiful. When they get bigger though, it's like an alarm saying I've been naughty lately and I have to be careful. Sadly, there isn't much you can do about…
  • I have exactly the same struggles as you. I'm on a budget, and I don't like meat that much anyway. I also thought about protein powders, but I something in me is resisting. I want to really try to do this the natural way before I use any quick fixes. So I've been changing some of my habits little by little. For example, I…
