I am doing a 24 hour challenge again this year. Last year they pulled us off the course due to weather, that is why only 20 hours. If I remember correctly it was a 11000 calories ride...NET was still 5K. I simple can not eat and digest that much food. Ate well all week!

You rode 124 miles. How long did it take? Easy riding is 300-400 per hour

That is Garmin connect. Cool program but only as good as the device it imports from. And 6000 is huge!

Thanks, exercise can be so fun. I love reading about what others have accomplished, it’s super inspiring. Calorie counting to lose weight is hard work, but finding joy and meaning in that work, which again is individual, is one of the things life is all about. Connection is the other, which is the point of this thread. John

Your knowledge is very helpful. I am a huge believer of research everything. But verify personally as what works in the research might not personal apply (individual differences). Have you tried nutria grain bars. They are the bomb for me. I also use Infinit personalize nutrition. You can make your own formula. Very good…

Wow, still surprised but still not judging. My training partner for two years was Type 1. He always had food and many times our rides and his survival depended on it. Context is key to everything.

Wow I rarely fuel unless I am burning over 1500 calories non stop. On my Saturday ride I took in 940 calories and burned 4000. I was fading at the end but power did not drop meaning I still had glycogen in my blood stream. A 10k would never need fueling unless you start very depleted. Same for a half marathon. I suppose a…

When training for my Ironman...it was max 250-300 on the bike as that is all you body can process. I find this to be very true. Running it was even less. 100 per hour as so much blood is needed to run that the stomach barely can digest. This is based on my coach and coaching others plus a lot of personal experience. But…

I think it is a great way for people to share what we are capable of as humans. It’s amazing what we can do. Furthermore. Most things we do in life are irrelevant to most people, but there is beauty to be able to connect and share them. That is why there is a forum in MFD. But as an competitive athlete it is total…

Yeah, cycling is a lot like moving breakfasts, perfect quote

So I did 2 days racing. First day...warm up then 2.3 miles 580 feet of climbing. 8:40 total time. 322 watts at 130 pounds. Best ever. Second road race. Finished 7th, in the lead group but nothing special. Started with 80 plus. So today I skipped the criterium race (4 hours of driving did not seem worth 45 minutes of…

I have 4 bikes...they all cost me a fortune. And I NEED a gravel bike. Poverty vs desire for 5th bike = poverty Off to a three day race. Lots of pain today. And Saturday. And Sunday. Hopefully I can give some of what I get. John

Goal for the month is 70 hours. Got three races this weekend so starting with a taper week which is going to make 70 hard but planning on a 500 mile week in late May if the weather holds. Almost 300 hours for the year so far John

Did 101.2 today, averaged 20.6, 4100 feet of climbing, so pretty hilly and also windy. I totally buried my ride partner, unfortunately. But he was a good sport about it and we slowed down for the last 15 or so. 70 hours and 30 minutes for the month. So I hit my goal. Got my first race next weekend. John

Yes faster in the other direction for sure....if you hammer the first uphill. Use you energy on the hills. There is little speed/time to be gain going down and pedaling moderate. The last up hill will also require so effort. Now off to ride 100 miles. Let us know how it goes John

Nice work!

So I did 5 miles and then my Di2 battery died. Rode home in the small ring. Plugged in the bike and did a Zwift race while it charged. Got third. Pretty happy with that considering I raced yesterday. My lower body hurts right now. 58 hours for the month.

So it was stage 3...they all blur together. If you want to get power back try racing. It’s so hard but they work fast at building power. Trying the Ds, first, that is what my wife did. Now she can hang in the C. Makes time fly by as it requires so much attention. So weird to think you are in Ireland. The road here are…

I’ve done it three times. Once the day it came out in like 60. Then tried riding it at tempo...got 49 on 4 watts per kilo. Then raced in the tour of Watopia ...I think it was stage 4 or 5. I think I got up it in 43...4.6-7 watts per kilo. I think I was 7th place that day. My training partner went up it in 41...he’s a…

Did you do the new mountain on Zwift? Or the one that’s been out for a year or so. The new mountain is a monster. It takes a few pro cyclists I know 40 minutes of all out riding to get up that one. J

Terrible very sorry to hear that. Brain injury’s are slow to heal...my son had one. But they do. Faith is needed. Lots of faith.

Rode a hour on the training this morning.... Then 2 hours later rode 84 miles outside, finally a sunny warm day. Just checked 52 hours for the month I got 3 real races in two weeks John

What happened to your husband? Is he mending well, I hope? J

Finish another Zwift race....7th place. If you know anything about wattage...it took a 4.8 watts per kilo effort for 21 minutes to get dropped! Zwift has some strong people. Probably around 45 hours for the month. John

Are you on Strava, I alway like to follow poeople in other parts of the world. My little world in Wisconsin is all I really see. And windy TTs are the worse, more mentally challenging than anything else. John

I am pretty fit...I have no issues getting my HR up, unless I am tired from to much working out. I hit 95% of max at least twice per week.
-
I did 3:10 yesterday on the trainer, did a 75 minute race...got dropped but finished 5 out of 600 plus. Did another race today. Managed 2nd out of 90 plus. I am at 35 hours for the month so far. Volume is hard when you are stuck on the trainer. John

Where is Cork? How did it go?

I am a long distance cyclist. I burn on average 12,000 calories a week on the bike. The last 5 weeks were all over 12K also do 700-900 push ups a week. I am pretty fit, so I can average 200 watts per hour on the bike which is around 720-800 calories per hours depending on efficiency. Today I did 75 moderate minutes this…
