Yeah, people mean well but without a good understanding of things, the advice they give out can actually be very harmful if followed... You can not out think Bipolar I or II. Some (some) depressions can be over come with diet and exercise but some can't (at least not completely) Medication has its place in life, but like…

My goal for the year was 700 hours...according to Strava I am 6 hours behind pace...so 67 hours this month will do it. Don't track miles...find it pretty useless when you bike 400 plus hours inside. 11 hours so far...got 2 to do today John

So 9:54 after yesterday...actually did 24 last night so 9:58 (when your goal is 65 everything counts). Did an hour and two tonight easy spinning. So 11 hours of cycling so far....which is 6000 extra calories burned so far. J

Seem like good info but speed is the number on way to get hurt. Just an FYI

So yesterday 1 hour and 25 on the bike and 30 minute weights Today I did the bike for 2 hours and 40 minutes. Total for the month 4 hours 35 minutes. Tomorrow is going to be big John[/quote] So today was big...but last night I spun for 22 before bed Then I rode 90 miles in 4 hours and 39 minutes. Will do another 20 minute…

Sounds like a good plan. One piece of advice...bike really really hard unless you are tired. Biking is non impact. If you are not riding a lot you can hit it hard.

I can send you a like to an amazing hour plus lecture from the worlds leading exercise physiologist...it's an hour and you need to watch the whole thing to get the compete picture. But here is the basics Volume matters Spread volume out over 4...then 5...then 6 days...build up to 6 days a week of running. Slowly. No more…

So have done 30 plus triathlons....including the ironman. I coached multiple people through the each distance also. So I have analyzed this sport to death.... It all depends on hills and wind. Just know biking is the key to triathlon times (it's half the event). If you want to finish well bike more. People never believe…

Why rollers? Have you used the new smart trainers?
-
Trainers are hard to sit on if you love riding outside as they are really only for training or hitting specific goals. Sitting and spinning without distractions is pretty painful for most. From your post it does not seem like you see any point. If you want to try get a cheap one, if you think it is ok then I would…

I'm in...65-70 hours Yeah I'm crazy John

My best ever was 236 watts for 4 hours...at 132 pounds. I averaged 21.1 over 88 miles with 5200 feet of climbing. It enjoyed being that fit. Last month did 272 for an hour which is around 1000 calories for the hour. I did hold 200 watts for 10 hours once....204 mile ride. Just remember most power meters underestimate…

This well supported in the research...a lot of what is posted in these forums is solid but a lot is also just opinion that only applies to that poster. I would highly recommend a google scholar sea h if you really want to know.

Thanks...yeah I hurt people in the hills. The flats kill me with a few of the monsters I ride with. How did you measure the number? Do you use a power meter? If so what type and how have you been cycling? 724 is solid for an hour...about 201 watts depending on efficiency. Longer you have been riding the higher the…

Two rides today....32 minutes in the AM 44 minutes in the PM 57 total cycling hours for the month.

I am short...5 5...light...130...47 yeas old...but with practice after about a year 600+ is easily possible on a bike in an hour. My best is right under 1000 for an hour. My wife is 48...5 6...124...she hits 600 an hour.

Going to start logging in December if someone posts a challenge. So far this month I have biked 55 hours...lifted about 5 2:06 last night 2:01 tonight Trying to hit 700 hours of cycling (only) this year so 65 is the goal for December. I race so volume matters. Oh and I do not really log miles, just time. Since I live in…

Ride a bike at 300 watts for thirty minutes... Ride a bike at 200 watts for 45 minutes Ride a bike at 150 watts for 60 minutes Give or take 10% total calories burn due to mechanical efficiency of your muscles If you are under 130 pounds and can do 300 watts for 30 minutes you could make a living biking (a crappy one...but…
-
Tons of research about this...like hundreds of journal articles...question for you? Which do you want most strength or aerobic fitness? You can have both but what you do first gets the better training effect (at least according to many studies). John

How old are you, that matters.

I teach at a university and one of the courses I teach (and a concentration in my program) is on eating disorders. There is a book called "Overcoming Binge Eating" by Christopher Fairburn who is probably the worlds leading expect on treating eating issues. I do not know the man I just have used his research for 10 years in…

I ride a lot and have a power meter on all my bikes...power meters basically give you an objective measure of much force you are putting in the pedals. It's displayed in watts...so 200 watts up hill could be 6 mph while 200 on a flat road might be 22 mph. It's a cool device. Ok, now to your question. When I am doing squats…

It's silly fast...I have a Flo 9 full carbon in the back and HED 6 in the front. I do a lot of long solo time trials so my two road bikes are super aero. Just finished the P4 this summer after my goal race so we will see what it can do next year.
