  • I'm counting calories so I wouldn't want to waste my food cals by adding it to my coffee, although a lot of non dairy creamers use coconut oil in them. Definitely for popcorn and baked sweet potatoes - just delicious!
  • @tazzy2911 : I hope you feel better soon. I've got a bug too and haven't been able to do much of anything. I was hoping it would be gone by now. :(
  • Really? I haven't had that problem. I've set myself as sedentary and just let the device log all my activity. Mine seems pretty accurate for the activity I do. I wasn't eating back the calories but am feeling unwell today so I've decided to eat them this week.
  • Once you've got enough data logged it'll personalize an insight for you. I got one on Friday telling me that Fridays are my least active day of the week.
  • He's more amused than annoyed but here they are: When I run around the living room to get to my final step goal. When I ruin take-out (rare for us) by researching the calories ahead of time. When I measure my wine to the fluid ounce.
  • Funny how that works. I can't have melons just like @jandw122912 and cucumber is in the melon family but if I peel a cucumber I can eat it just fine! Potlucks and picnics are a nightmare, don't you agree? :s
  • I'm fortunate in that I work from home. So, after I walk with the kiddo to the bus stop I come home, have a coffee, do my workout and then shower and get on with my day. I also take a yoga class one evening a week. Walking to and from the bus stop every day and dog walking helps keep my steps up too. I like to watch…
  • I do. We all have different needs based on our allergies so you'll have to figure it out. I'm allergic to birch and ragweed so I can't eat: apples, celery, melons of any kind, peaches, cherries, etc. I can't carve a pumpkin or be near someone peeling or cutting potatoes. But, I can eat those foods cooked (except celery).…
  • Have a great February everyone!
  • Way to go! You've been working so hard! I lost 3.2lbs this month and hit my 10lb milestone - happy dance! My vacation is in February so I'm in the final push to bikini time.
  • I agree with @Kitzey , I don't have any foods that are off limits. As soon as I impose that on myself it's the one thing I can't live without. If I want a donut I'll have one and either fit it into my day by exercising, eat less of something else, or go over. Either way I choose it's still a decision and now it's made with…
  • @bluepoppies: sad but true, I think it was about 9 days in that I gave up. There's only so much restriction I can take! Major cred to you for sticking it out.
  • Yes! I can only eat bananas with freckles on them or I get a terrible tummy ache.
  • @rlpomeroy : Your insights will show in Connect when you get one. Pretty neat stuff. I'm loving the vivosmart even more now.
  • @rlpomeroy : yes! It's working better than ever! I use Other for weight lifting, and Cardio for elliptical and yoga. Then I edit the activity names on Connect. The little heart rate graph is cool, I agree. Have you had an "insight" yet? That's a neat new feature on Connect too. Oh yeah and it registered some activity…
  • @indygirl217 : we have something in Toronto called The Path which is like a little underground city, pretty awesome way to get around on the winter! Good for you - get out of the cold whenever you can! @bluepoppies : I didn't last a week in the dry January challenge!
  • Welcome! Feel free to add me as a Pal. I did a FitnessBlender interval fat burner with upper body weights today. Holy smokes! Burned 271 cals in 35 minutes!
  • I've been reading this thread with interest bc I was in try exact same boat! I did my first weight session with FitnessBlender and my legs were killing me! I thought I was doing my arms but I guess all those compound movements did my legs in. I don't have any solutions, I had a hot bath with Epsom salts, drank tons of…
  • Omg you guys, I hit 10lbs of weight loss today! :D I've lost 1.4 this week! Please celebrate with me because this is HUGE for me. I usually lose .4 or so a WEEK. I'm going out later today and picking up a set of heavier weights - I think the weight lifting I've done is awesome but I'm so sore from it I think twice a week…
  • Good catch, I didn't realize from the Info that it is double counting the exercise. Good advice there. ^^^
  • I know Connect begins and ends each 'day' at midnight, maybe that is contributing....I'm stumped... you can email them. I emailed them about it not tracking my intensity minutes (it's a software thing they are working on) and I got a response in 24 hrs. Also, join the Garmin Forum because they are helpful there too.
  • Mall walking - maybe it's a Canadian thing bc winter sucks here? Check this story out for inspiration: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/woman-loses-240-pounds-1.3403676
  • Forgot to add that there's now a nifty little HR graph if you tap the HR screen.
  • I've learned more since I joined the Garmin forums. The 72 beat HR issue was just fixed for the vivosmart in the latest donwload (for me yesterday). The intensity minutes not tracking is an issue still and Garmin Support told me it is NOT the tracker but a problem with the software that they are working on. I figure, if…
  • I have a vivosmart HR and love it! That is a very strange problem. Have you edited settings in the Connect app? Are all your settings in MFP correct? Do both apps have the same time zone (mine didn't and I had to edit).
  • ^^ Totally. And if you're worried about the calories then focus on diet and cardio for now.

  • Yes, I realize that but it's the only metric I have. I don't do strength or body weight exercises for the calorie burn anyway, that's what my cardio and eating plan are for.

  • Not many. I did about 8 mins of dedicated ab work today (after my cardio and weight session) and it burned 30 calories according to my HR monitor.

  • @CariTJR - I think of it like a no-impact treadmill. Mine has magnetic resistance (I can barely move at level 9) and a bunch of different programs in it to keep the boredom at bay. I watch Netflix while I'm on it to make the time pass. I was going to get a treadmill but my sister runs all the time and seems to get injuries…
  • I know how you feel. It was freezing cold here on the weekend, got 'warmer' (4 degrees) and rained and windy yesterday, back to minus whatever today. Mornings are so dark still, its downright depressing. Luckily, I have an elliptical to do my runs in the winter. The good news is that the days are getting longer and it will…
