  • I'm a musician, feel free to add me. You can totally do this. Anyone can - just keep coming back every day. Make it a habit. The people on MFP are really supportive and it's funny how you can develop a friendship with people all over the world. Start by getting a good friends list going, logging your food, checking in…
  • Haha! I saw that on your diary and I thought Yum! Sounds like a drink I'll have to remember to have sometime.
  • I'm still new at this (and I literally found this option yesterday) but I would say NO, don't! If you do then you won't have a deficit but if you have a large 'net under calories' amount then you could safely use a little. Mine was at 1600 under so I didn't worry about going over last night on my dessert. If someone out…
  • ^^^Yep, same here. But you should get a colander from the dollar store anyway bc you might need to rinse rice in the future. :)
  • Yes, I'll drink herbal or non-caffeine teas when it's cold. No calories unless you add some sweetener. You could try hot water with a squeeze of lemon, that's good too - I also like it cold. My water is very mineral rich but I like it, it's just like drinking bottled water without the waste (or price tag). You know, I…
  • I finally figured out how to check my weekly calories on the app! Which is awesome bc I don't mind a big deficit through the week and then having a better dinner or treat on the weekends. It's under Nutrition at the bottom of your diary and then you can cycle to Calories and Weekly and it gives you your weekly Net. Perfect…
  • I've got a vivosmart, there's a Garmin thread on here where you can add other users. You kick my butt, I only get about 6000 steps if I'm lucky but it's just been so cold here. Keep it up!
  • I love pitas for pizza! I buy lebanese pitas at the grocery store and they are only 100 cals for one huge pita. It's like the size of a frozen pizza, seriously. So really, it's just the toppings you need to watch out for. We made a Hawaiian pizza the other night with peameal bacon, pineapple and mozzarella. So yummy!
  • I use steel cut oats too - I love the chewy texture. My fave topping is maple syrup and raisins or a few nuts. The best thing I ever learned was that you can soak them in water overnight and then put it right on the stove the next morning to cut your cooking time down. I do this while camping too. You'll see recipes that…
  • This thread is so inspiring, you all look fantastic!
  • Do you have oral allergy syndrome? If you do, watch out for raw veg too. You really don't need to eat fruit, just make sure to get your fiber from other sources.
  • You know what? Mine stopped tracking intensity minutes this week. I've done 3 workouts that didn't 'count' as intensity although it's tracking my heart rate just fine. Is yours working now?
  • I do the same thing! I pick a new movie every week to watch, click on the subtitles (my machine squeaks) and get it done. I like to watch music documentaries bc then I get the music too. I limit my Netflix watching to only when I'm on my Elliptical - makes it easier to get on the next morning to continue my movie.
  • You are SO right! Personally, I didn't log anything but meaningful exercise (I would never log shopping or cleaning house etc) so I was starting to think I needed to go to the doctor bc I've been at 8lbs lost for what seems like forever. Granted, I don't have a ton to lose but I should still be losing weight, now I know…
  • So it's been almost a week with my new Vivosmart and although I was sick for a lot of that week I have discovered something huge. My yoga workouts are spot on - 400ish calories BUT my ellipticals are HALF of what I have been putting in. I've been using my machine's number (bc it's lower than MFP) and it's still half of…
  • In Canada here I like Danskin and Tuff Athletics. I get them both from Costco.
  • I have a Vivosmart and LOVE it. Lots of data (the sleep is particularly interesting). It monitors HR every 5 mins at rest and every 1 min while exercising. I like the app and it syncs with MFP no problem. Once in a while it won't sync with Garmin Connect but I just hit the sync button on the tracker and it works fine. I…
  • I agree with Gia07 - owner's manual is crap (but aren't they all these days?).
  • I have a Vivosmart as well and love it. I'm sooo glad I got it because I was really overestimating how many calories I burned from exercise (so now I know why I've plateaued). The sleep tracking is really cool, I like the move bar that reminds you that you've been sitting too long. It seems really accurate with the steps…
  • Hmmm...I have a Vivosmart. Is your Garmin Connect linking to your MFP? (This wasn't clear to me from your post) Once it is, in MFP settings there is an option for Steps and from there you can click on whether you want to track your steps or not from Garmin Connect.
  • For me it's my elbow that bothers me so I just modify. Side plank is really hard on my elbow (and likely your wrists) so just go down onto your elbow and forearm. Most poses can be modified in similar ways. I couldn't do chaturanga for the longest time so I modified by dropping my knees. Now I can do the full pose into…
  • Mine is connecting just fine with Connect and MFP. That's exactly what you have to do. It's taken me a few days to figure things out. I love it, it's accurate and I like looking at the stats.
  • Forgot to bow out of this challenge. Blew it on the first weekend. Good luck everyone!
  • Weigh in today and did not lose or gain. This is no surprise BC I was a total slug from having a bad cold. Even eating at 1200 calories I will not lose weight unless I am active. Here's to a better, more active week. Looking forward to yoga today!
  • Ah, I was thinking you were posting a recipe! I make my own kimchi - always need new ways to use it.
  • I have a vivosmart HR and am finding it very good although it's early days. The sleep has been accurate, the exercise too, hr monitors every 5 mins at rest and every minute during exercise. Waterproof for swimming and showering, tells you when to move if you're sitting too long, no metal on band to react to. List goes on,…
  • I have endometriosis (had surgery, hormone therapy the whole shebang) so I can definitely relate to OP. If I can exercise then I will bc it does help. If I am in severe pain then there's really no question about it, I just rest. Some things that help are: taking anti inflammatory a few days leading up to TOM, hot water…
  • I won a jellybean counting contest when I was in grade 5. The prize was the giant jar of jellybeans! lol
  • Thanks 20years, I was going at a good pace so essentially it was a run on the machine. Good to know I did it correctly and that at least the data will show on Connect.
  • I love my yoga class but bc it's out of town it's easy to get lazy and want to skip once in a while. I booked my Little's piano lessons for the same time so that I can never skip!
