  • Oops hit enter! After you log a workout you can then edit the name and type on the computer. My username is zen.jen if you want to add on Connect.
  • I just got mine and did my first workout today. You do need to log your exercise by pressing the little button and timing it. It should track your HR, distance, and cals burned. For me, it did track my intensity mins but I think it took a bit before that showed up in Connect. Also, after you log a work
  • I did a mini elliptical today BC I'm still sick but feeling antsy. I hit the timer button on my Vivosmart and then logged onto the Garmin site and edited it to say elliptical category and name. It shows under MFP as a run though. I guess that's just the way it syncs? Wasn't sure if that was what I was supposed to do or…
  • I have only been connected since yesterday evening with my Vivosmart but I seem to be syncing OK. I had a negative cal line from yesterday BC I am sick and in bed but today I've got plus 12 in the Garmin line (still sick). When I woke up I did hit the sync button on my watch to reconnect this morning since it hadn't synced…
  • Great job! I'm sick today so I'm just a slug but I'm OK with that. I didn't even walk with the Little to the bus this morning BC I felt so crap but forced myself to do the afternoon. Keep it going girls, you're doing great and it's about consistency NOT speed.
  • I'm zen.jen feel free to add!
  • I just got a Garmin Vivosmart HR and the main reason I chose it over other trackers was that there is no metal on the band as I have a severe nickel allergy. It's also waterproof so I can swim in the pool or at the beach with it.
  • I just got my new Vivosmart HR today. Mine is working OK so far. Here's what I did: first I set up my band with the Garmin Connect app. Then if you go to the menu and click 3rd Party Apps you will see MFP. It will then walk you through the setup.
  • Got my device today! A Vivosmart HR. A little earlier than my goal weight but I thought it would take longer to ship. I'm zen.jen please add me! I literally just put it on and I'm sick today so I won't really know how it goes until tomorrow. Has anyone tracked yoga with it yet? I'm trying to figure out how before my class…
  • That's amazing. It definitely comes off slower than your mind wants it to. I just keep telling myself that .8lbs here and .5 lbs there add up over time. I also find that I tend to gain a little before I lose or after working out (not really sure why). I trend my weight on Happy Scales and that prevents a mental panic…
  • I third this ^^^^. I have been doing yoga for 9 years now (with the same instructor) and when I need a home workout I turn to Adriene. If you listen to your body and follow her instructions then you shouldn't get hurt. Plus, you can always pause it if you need a break!
  • Southern Ontario isn't feeling so 'southern' lately! :)
  • Woo hoo, lost 1lb last week! Going strong this week with yoga, elliptical and walking already logged. I feel so amazing, it's not even about weight anymore.
  • Following. Vivosmart HR is my 10lb loss reward and I'm almost there. Will post update when I receive it. That totally made me LOL. Love that name!
  • I'm looking at a Vivosmart HR, so I'm following this thread. One reason it appeals is that it's waterproof and you can swim in it so it really is 24/7 wearable. The other competition in this price range are not. It's my 10lb down reward (almost there!) so I'm curious to see if it helps log more accurately than how I do now…
  • Don't wait to go back to yoga -start now! I have a 90 min yoga class once a week and it really helps with my weight loss and tightening up those muscles. Plus, it's pure 'me' time. Feel free to friend me.
  • I don't check-in here every day but try to look at things every few days. I thought it all went off the rails last week when Hubby made a homemade mac and cheese and I miscalculated the recipe so I actually ate 4x what I should have! Yikes, eh? Turned out it was all ok because I worked out 5 days and lost 1 lb! So, for me,…
  • I live near Trenton, Ontario. MFP is the best app I have on my phone! I'm artsy and don't care for sports but you can add me anyway! :)
  • Count me in! I had my last bevvie on Sunday - planning on no alcohol until my vacation in February. I drank way too much during the holidays!
  • I'm in! I turned 40 this year and am going to lose 40lbs in the long run.. My job is sedentary so my goal is to move a minimum of 30 mins, 5 days a week. I am eating at 1200 cals (to lose 1lb/week at my height) and I have been on MFP for almost 60 days. Slow and steady wins the race! Add me if you're a positive person!
  • Amazing! I have about 40lbs to lose and the fact that you lost so much more gives me a kick in the pants. Whether it's 10lbs or 110 it's all about lifestyle. Way to Go!
  • I second the voice against veg based oil creamers. We have them in Canada but when I compared the cals against half-and-half cream it was 5-10 cals LESS to use the real stuff (I was surprised). Plus, hydrogenated oils are not good for you. I have one really good 8 oz coffee a day - one cream, one sugar and sometimes dash…
  • Yup! Ontario here. Feel free to add me.
  • I would have never thought to use a balance ball as a bench! Great idea! I found a 40lb adjustable dumbbell set for about $40 which I think is a good price and good starter set for me. I will definitely check that out before I buy from a store. Thanks.
  • I think this may be the most cost effective way for me to get started. If I enjoy it and stick with it then I can invest in more equipment later. I have looked at FitnessBlender and I like the videos that I previewed. I like a no-nonsense approach and I don't need cheerleading. :)
  • Great suggestions everyone! :) Yes, I would be brand new to weight training. I don't go to a gym because it is too far from where I live so that is why I'm creating a home gym. I have a bit of space but not a ton. I have some 5lb dumbells and started using those for some arm exercises and it is enough weight right now for…
  • Well said! I think like that too. Even if I have a day that's not ideal, at least I KNOW it's not ideal now! A good group of MFP friends helps a lot too to keep the accountability up.
  • I log every day. Every day is not perfect but at least I have the knowledge of how much I am eating and how much I am moving. A good friends list helps too, friend positive fun people and they will applaud your milestones. Recognize that the process can be slow and difficult but time will pass anyway and at least you are…
  • Someone I see often asked me what I had done differently to my hair. I hadn't changed anything, I think my face is just less fat! Sometimes even a few lbs lost makes a big difference.
  • I have OAS also. Can't have apples, cucumber, melons of any kind, celery, cherries, peaches, or be near raw potatoes being peeled. I compensate by gorging on tropical fruits and berries when I can. I live in apple country so it pretty much sucks the fun out of that. I miss watermelon the most. Potlucks and parties are…
