+1 on soup. I also keep bags of almonds and protein bars in the desk. Lunch is whenever I can fit it in, so having a stock of easy to prep meals on hand is essential. As others said, compensate for the salt with extra water intake.

I'm in Michigan, Grand Rapids area. Have been doing this since Oct. Down 20 of my 40 lb goal this week. I dropped the first 10 pretty easy by just watching the food..then flattened off a bit. Had to kick up the exercise to get the next 10. Anyhow, feel free to add me if you want. Good luck.

Don't give up the hobby, just give more away ;-) Seriously though, nothing wrong keeping some beer intake, just log it, and balance it out wit other foods. Feel free to add me if you like.

One other tip, since you mention grad school. Treadmills are a great place to study boring textbooks... makes it harder to fall asleep B)

I don't weigh every meal, but I'd recommend a cheap digital scale when you can... it's good for calibrating your typical portions to reality every so often. I started getting serious with the same basic goal a few months ago...observed the first 10 pounds dropped fast, then had to up the exercise recently to get off my…
