  • Our local grocery store sells Black Bean Ice Cream. They have all the traditional flavors (Vanilla, Strawberry & Chocolate), but two always make me cringe - Black Bean Flavor, and Green Tea Flavor. I'm very game to trying black bean brownies! Going to have to spin up one of these recipes soon!
  • I'm an American in Alberta/Canada... I get called hillbilly. Or worse.... Newfie...
  • Oh that looks mouth watering good. I love cilantro...
  • We love black beans here too. My wife says I eat "boring"... the last 3 months its been Red Kidney Beans. I think once I run out (we buy in bulk) I'm going to do Black Bean, or maybe this 9 bean I have heard about. We usually add a meat too (pork most times, but turkey, chicken, beef all work), I have been trying to avoid…
  • I slow cook beans once a week (every 7-10 days). I started a new batch this morning. 4 Cups Red Kidney Beans, (cover in water, soak 8-30 hours to "de-gas") I soak the night before. Some people skip this step. 3 Medium Onions, chopped 2 Bell Peppers, Chopped (I used a Red and Yellow) 3 Fresh Jalapenos, Chopped 2 Clove of…
  • I have seen this a couple times - Cauliflower Pizza Dough. Almost a hotdog bun :) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/232930/cauliflower-pizza-crust/
  • I like to substitute anything that requires mayo with blended Avocado. Also.... YES! \m/
  • My friends list is growing, and I noticed it seems to have networked a few friends across the board. Always room for more. Looking for positive people - or people that are stuck that aren't afraid of some friendly shoving in the right direction. I expect it right back when I'm being a pansy. Lets face it - typing don't…
  • Anyone have experience with Fish in the crock pot? I just found a couple Tuna & Slow Cooker recipes. I'm wondering if the taste/smell lingers in the pot, should I get a slow cooker specifically for fish? And did the fish turn out all right or just emulsified into stock?
  • Lets do this. Guys like you and I are in the same boat. Give 120% one day, then stand 1 foot in the grave the next. You are not pathetic, you are a survivor. Alive is well ahead of the game. Eating too much is a sign you want to live, and if being over weight is your biggest problem, then we have this game practically won.…
  • WOW What an inspiration! I wont even knock you for the Saskatchewan shirt (Go ESKS!) \m/
  • I think it is important to log cheat foods, falling off the wagon foods, and just out right over eating as closely as possible. Otherwise, when you look at the reports, it will always be nice and neat - and that's not how we eat. Seeing the "Fail" days on my report are as important as seeing all the "Win" days. It tells me…
  • Howdy. I joined a long while back but never took it seriously - started using MFP about 9 days ago and being accountable by using the food tracker here. I'm a male, 43, need to drop 100lbs as well. Welcome to the journey. :) \m/
  • I'm new to sauerkraut - maybe the last 10 years I've come around to it, and now I actually incorporate it into meals. This sounds great!
  • Oh yea! Sounds great. I'm known in these parts for my burritos/taco bar. Did a 6.5lb rib eye for the Paquio fight over the summer. 4 guys and we ate it all. I'm not allowed to make tacos for awhile haha.
  • danarandallreed - oh yea, we do that with pork chops too! Instead of the tomato sauce we use mushroom soup - will definitly give it a try with tomato sauce next time! enterdanger - we have been thinking about a second slow cooker as well. mmmm dessert....
  • Howdy to all my new friends! Appreciate the support. Welcome aboard!
  • enterdanger - that sounds great! I never thought about turkey wings, good call. I have Red Kidney beans soaking right now too for tomorrow. :)
  • Bread is bad for me too. I grew up country where we had a "pusher" for every meal. Toast for your eggs in the morning; sammich on bread; and rolls or buns at supper to sop up gravy. My wife was the first to point out to me that I eat a "loaf" of a bread a day. I miss it, but eliminating breads and making sure to not "drink…
  • Used the crock pot twice this week. 1 Bag of Asian Style Veggie (frozen) layered into slow cooker. 2.5 Chicken Breast, Halved (5 pieces) 1 Box of Chicken Stock Spices (Garlic Powder, Paprika, Pepper, Celery Salt) Slow cooked on High 4.5 Hours. Using two forks, shred chicken down as small as possible. Stir. 2 Cups of Rice…
  • Still looking for friends with like minded goals. The more the merrier.
  • In the winter it is hard for me to drink water. Even in a warm house, with it negative temps outside, I just want coffee! 1liter down so far today!
  • For myself, increased thirst and dryness of synus seems to go hand in hand with intake of creatine. The cramping I have I would call water cramping, and again, usually only happens when I am cycling creatine and feel more thirsty then normal. Rather then lift from a study, I can only relate to my own experiences.
  • To be honest - as a former athlete - I am at the point I do not put much stock into supplements with a couple exceptions. Creatine and certain thermogenic products. The main reason I still take supplements is pure habit. OCD habit. That being said - I do a decent amount of research on what we as humans /should/ take.…
  • I recently switched up my Omega/Fish oils due to the "Belching fish breath" side effect of most supplements. I switched to Progressive brands on word of mouth from another buddy that lives off supplements (he is a part time body builder, full time fireman) and we were having a conversation about cheap pills and better then…
  • I have a gym quality Treadmill, a medium end Bow-Flex, and tons of free weights. All I lack is personal accountability. I work in construction - but took my first lay off in 5 years. Its not an excuse.. but it is - because I work 10-12 hours a day, I fell back on the idea that was my work out. Its obviously not as I keep…
  • Howdy. I'm new here and fired up to make a journey. I take a winter lay-off for work and have the time - no time like the present, right? \m/
  • This was after I had shaved for my Sis-in-laws wedding.... I like to say that Im country. My friends say I'm ZZ Top. My wife calls it Hillbilly.... haha
  • My wife likes to cube the extra firm tofu, then roll it in bread crumbs and fry it. The are similar to croutons and/or chicken nuggets. The flavor comes from the seasoning she uses in the bread crumbs. We then either eat them as is with dip (my daughter uses ketchup, they are so similar to a chicken nugget, I use Franks)…
