Cleanse the word "cleanse" from your nutrition vocabulary. Then go for a jog, or just don't eat for a couple hours, or both. That's what I do when I feel bloated, and it happens more times than I'd care to admit. Food can take up to 72 hours to digest, you probably have just have build up from food that hasn't had enough…

This is a great website for all pseudoscience questions! If you think someone is trying to sell you junk, or if you think you might be selling yourself junk, this website is a good place to start

Steak. un-blended. medium rare.

Exactly. If you are eating at a deficit, you will lose weight. Strength training now is very important, and you actually need MORE protein when at a deficit to prevent muscle wasting. You don't need nearly as much as nutrition companies recommend (who make more $$ the more protein shakes you drink), but you do need more…

Sounds like you've got this nutrition thing down. Sounds like you should be giving the advice not asking for it.

Anaerobic exercise burns far fewer calories than aerobic exercise. To the point where it is probably not worth logging. This is a good article if you need a refresher from high school biology!

No. On average human beings burn 10% of calories digesting, 20% moving around, and 70% pumping blood and doing other essential functions. This last percentage is referred to as your BMR. So maybe if you were in a coma eating your BMR would cause you to maintain your weight, but for most of us eating just your BMR would put…

Preach! This is always what I'm telling people! OP - I also want to get in on this 'you're giving away your money and getting fancy promises in return' thing! I bet I can make up some stuff that is wayy cooler than what it says on those packages!

This is the way to do it (though you will find many conflicting points of view of how many grams of fat and protein you need). Calculate fat first - Essential fats are just that - essential. Your body will shut down without them. Calculate protein second - you should have plenty of calories left to get more than you need…

Gaston eats five dozen eggs and he's roughly the size of a barge!

I'm also from the midwest, and I also put cheese on everything. Because it is delicious and always worth the calories. In fact, I think I may have problems reaching my fat requirements without it. I'm on a high protein, high fat diet so cheese fits in very nicely. Maybe try one of those, and you can just eat cheese all day!

Not to sound like your grandma, but you need to eat something else. 1000kcal is not enough to get the micro nutrients you need. In general, you should never eat fewer than your basal metabolic rate (mine's about 2100 but you can calculate yours here). If you eat exactly your BMR and do no exercise you will still lose…

I always over estimate how many calories I have consumed. If I'm at a restaurant and the item isn't on mfp I take how many calories I think it is, find a similar item and put in enough servings of that item to equal 1.5x how many calories I estimated. But as often as possible I eat at home so I know exactly how much I am…

Always use real butter. Tastes better and better for you. Unsalted is what I add to most things

Pre by Optimum Nutrition is the best preworkout on the market in my opinion, if you are going to go that route. I swore off caffeine entirely a little over a year ago, and I have to say I never have problems with energy anymore. Engorge by Primeval Labs is a great non-stim preworkout, if you are convinced you need one. You…

"gorging" isn't really what it is, but as you cut your calories down to the bone, it is important to still get enough fat, so as a consequence, fats grow into a larger % of your macros

Eat more real butter. Not margarine. Some people even put it in their coffee (I've tried it, it tastes pretty good, but I don't really drink coffee). Microwaving a tablespoon of butter in a shot glass and drizzling it on whatever you are eating (especially veggies) works very to get a quick dose of fat in your diet.

Filet Mignon. Best food in the world

Crystal light and vodka is a favorite among bodybuilders. If you feel weird drinking that (and I don't blame you if you do), stick to whisky. 69 calories/oz so you can't beat that, plus it tastes great. I pretty much only drink whisky and wine these days. Wine to enhance the taste of food, whisky to enhance the taste of…

Also if you ever read the words "toxins" or "chemicals", 9/10 everything else in the article is garbage. Real scientists don't use those words as if to convey negativity. If there is something which is toxic, they will tell you what it is and at which levels it is toxic. Chemicals are literally everything, anyone using…

I always look to see if there are carbs. some processed meats now have added sugars, or other junk that isn't meat. I just want my meat to be meat. Preservatives are fine, I want my meat to stay fresh longer. "Grass fed" and "organic" labels only matter if you enjoy paying more for something when you don't have to.

I mostly hate him, because he lies for money. Less than 50% of his recommendations had actual scientific research to back them up, yet he was more than willing to profit off of the gullible and the credulous. Sure, people should be smarter, but real doctors continue to rank among the most trusted group of people in…

Completely agree with janerellyroll. I use a 45C/25P/30F spilt but that comes from years of counting! In general, 80/10/10 is going to leave you deficient in a lot of areas, as well as make you hungrier. Also, in general, fats and proteins have a higher glycemic index than carbohydrates, and thus make you feel fuller,…

I would not recommend any supplements beyond fish oil, and whatever micro nutrients may be lacking in your diet. If you find it is difficult to get enough protein (0.6 to 0.8 x your lean body mass in kg = bulking, 0.8 to 1.0 x your lean body mass in kg = cutting. Yes this seems low, and more will certainly not hurt you,…

I had similar problems when I started mfp. For me, I was underestimating how much I was eating and overestimating how much I burned off. Keep logging your food, and don't eat if you are not hungry, that's all any of us can do
-
I completely agree with this sentiment, though I believe there is more evidence in support of the theory than lemurcat12 thinks there is, the important thing is trying it for yourself and living within your comfort level. Everyone has slightly different reactions to everything.

BCAA's are Branch Chain Amino Acids - Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. These are the most important aminos for building muscle. A lot of people take them during their workout to 'refuel' for the next set, however I have yet to see a single well preformed study that shows this practice does anything at all. Purely…

What are your goals? If you just want to be generally healthy what you are taking is probably enough. Might recommend a vitamin D3 supplement, as 90% of us Americans are deficient there. But you live in Houston, so even that might not be necessary.

I found several studies 2 years ago, when I was still in college, which a friend pointed me too after a long debate. After actually reviewing all the studies, I conceded that I was wrong and changed my life accordingly. I don't have the papers still (that was a laptop ago), but I can poke around on google for a bit. Google…
