Nope, not necessary. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Confidence is beautiful.

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing the pizza recipe! We had it here tonight and it was great!

Ohhhh I am a hobby collector! I do the following (I'm not very good at most of them, but I love to do them): crocheting knitting painting (oil portraits seem to be my forte) scrapbooking +greeting card making colouring - nice pencil crayons are my favourite to use, but I also use crayons I'm in the middle of making a "rag…

I love Wendy's chili :*

About 60% fat, 30% protein, and 10% carbs, roughly. It varies quite a bit from day to day, but that's kind of the outline.

I bring left-overs pretty much every day, but I do have access to a microwave. If I didn't have a microwave, i would probably just bring a giant salad every day, with lots of veggies, cheese, meat, maybe eggs, avocado, etc. Bread is not good for me because it just makes me more hungry when I eat it. Your mileage may vary.

Probably fretting over it is worse for you than the half a donut and one cookie.

I'm just amazed at how many people are FLOORED that I can make a cake from scratch. Like they cannot wrap their heads around it. They think I'm an alien when I say I made the icing, too.... but <sigh> I don't do much baking these days. I used to make all my own bread and muffins and everything from scratch...

I snowshoe in the winter/hike in the summer, go berry-picking, walk the dogs, ride horses, work in the garden. I'm not much of an "exerciser"' per say, but I love to get outside and have fun.

From what you are saying, I would suggest you don't change anything... just keep on keepin' on. When you make it too hard you risk over-facing yourself and just "giving up". It sounds like you are doing great. Keep it up!

I eat back most of my "earned" calories from my fitbit *if* I'm hungry for them. There are plenty of days I'm under. And there are some days that I'm over. But I'm never very successful if I get really strict about it. Edit: for example, I will have walked about 25,000 steps today by the day's end, and as of right now I…

Do you need one? No, of course not. But I love mine! I have the Fitbit Charge HR and I love having it to keep tabs on how much I've moved around, and an approximate count of how many calories I've burned for the day. The only bummer for me is that I don 't have a cell phone so I don't get to use those features or join…

I think it's more about - Don't let "perfect" be the enemy of "good". The only problem I have with the "80/20" rule, is that I'm not quite sure how we're measuring that.... is it 80% of each week that is supposed to be followed? 80% of each day? 80% of each meal?

Worry about it tomorrow.

I weigh myself every day. I think weighing yourself less often makes it a bigger deal... then you get caught up on seeing the number. I figure it must be pretty disappointing for someone to eat well and exercise for two weeks, then step on the scale and find out that they gained 5 pounds (because they are ovulating or…

lol, that is exactly what he always orders.

Hummus isn't super low carb and it may or may not fit with your goals. That being said, 20g per day is REALLY low carb. You might find you can still enjoy the benefits of a low-carb diet while eating 2 or 3 times as many carbs, which would give you a lot more options. But I spend a ton of time…

Oh there is nothing like real maple syrup/candy. We are hoping to get into making our own within the next few years here on our property. We spent much of this winter snowshoeing around making note of where the most maples are (and I insist the effort of hiking around to collect will cancel out the extra calories).

Organ meats are very inexpensive and nutrient dense.

I meant in the general forums for new people coming to MFP to see.... the people who have been told all their lives to eat the whole grain, low fat diet. They are the ones who need it the most!
-
These TED talks, the one in the OP and the one RalfLott mentions, are the type that should be linked in the main forums for people to see.... I am just not brave enough to do it!

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to answer that first question.

Sounds like you're not doing anything wrong. The scale won't move every week. Carry on!

The Gift of Fear is a must read for every woman on the planet. Absolutely highly recommend.

Whoa whoa whoa play fair... the one making the claim is the one with the burden of proof... No one is required to prove a negative...

I make my own. I saute one or 2 finely chopped garlic with a tablespoon or two of finely chopped onion in about a tablespoon of olive oil, add spices (I usually add salt/pepper/maybe some rosemary and/or oregano and/or hot chili powder, a splash of liquid smoke), then add a can of tomato paste, cook a little bit, add a can…

They are mean because they are hungry

I wish I had known that by eating a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet, that I could lose weight without being hungry. Hungry always derailed my efforts in the past.
