Sounds like none of the participants encountered a black bear or a mountain lion during their hikes. Or human created spent cartridge littered shooting ranges/trash dump sites/open latrine pits left by piggies out in out national forests/wildernesses. Encountering any one of those will indeed increase ones stress, right…

1. Frozen meals that are lower in calories than what I could cook the meal in question for myself 2. Frozen vegetables for out of season vegetables ($$) 3. Frozen berries for out of season berries ($$) 4. Seasoning packets/papers/sachets that come with with built-in recipes that list the nutritional information for them…

The day I am not tied to the food scale every day for every food item. Instead, just using it a couple times a week to make sure still tracking within the realm of reality to keep portion/calories at the correct level. Yep; I can get behind that one.

@askeeney Have you done the Great Columbia Crossing? I know of it because it's on the bucket list for before I leave the PNW.

6.4 lbs. or 2.9%. I had to eat at around maintenance for two weeks of in order to get healing of a wound off on the right foot. Shooting for at least 4% this month.

The ones that laboratory blood test results have confirmed I am deficient in. So far, vitamin D3 and a couple of times now calcium and potassium. Folate if you are a woman even thinking of having kids someday as if you wait until you know you are pregnant to take, it's too late for it to be of any intended benefit for the…

And Coleman's meal sachets, again far easier to find in the UK than the US? I adore their lamb hotpot one and pay for the overseas $hipping because it is totally worth it to me; I sub elk for lamb to make it when there's some in the freezer.

Being in the UK, you've tried the seasoning papers readily available to you like below and didn't like them?

Michael Angelo's, especially the "meal starter" multi-serving offerings, are notoriously underweight compared to the nutrition label servings/weight listed. One was an entire serving short weight-wise, along with 28 grams of weight that was nothing but pure oil had to separate off of. That was awesome to experience.

Nutritional deficiency would likely be a whole herd of zebras to rule out. A horse would be loss of retrobulbar fat (you lose/gain fat everywhere there's fat, when you do) changing the shape of the globe (eye ball) and/or how the muscles attached to the globe pull/distort it. If globe shape changes, it can affect where the…

Great advice for those who do not possess in-depth knowledge of mammalian anatomy and physiology. :)

Normal human anatomy. Google really is your friend sometimes.

You understand that Atkins, if done by the book, climbs a "carb ladder" (the amount of carbohydrates you can eat in grams/day) over time until you learn at how many grams/day you can eat of them and lose weight, maintain weight, and gain weight, yes? It is NOT 20 grams/day of carbs for life. When I did Atkins by the book…

The development of an abdominal panniculus doesn't happen to everyone who gains/loses weight. Rather, it is largely determined by where/how one carries their truncal adiposity. I'm not yet 45 and can tell you I know for sure already that while I won't have a panniculus, either, I'll have the dreaded "batwings" and…

Nutritional yeast in the quest to find something other than butter and salt to dress popcorn with. Never ate it before now even when had friends whose families did back in the 80s/90s or who were a bit "crunchy" themselves. Also, meat topped salads at the moment - Dion's pastrami/provolone ranch clone, shredded beef taco…

For me, neither. I am more sedentary than "mostly sedentary" every day and it is purely by choice. CICO still works for me even without voluntary additional physical activity beyond what is necessary to live and function as an independently living adult in the US. A "bad" food day as far as massively excessive caloric…

Not seeing where these calculations - specifically the weight(fat) - account for loss from, and evaporation of, water from the meat as it is cooked. Muscle tissue is comprised of a substantial amount of water that is lost from the weight(raw) during the cooking process. In other words, the difference between weight(raw)…

Umpqua Dairy Premium Lite Praline Pecan. Safeway/Albertsons in the PacNW seem to reliably stock it; no idea of availability outside of. Can't handle the erythritol ice creams, tho (Halo Top was 100% inedible to me), so it's either this or Ben & Jerry's light Cherry Garcia/chocolate mix up. I could make my own as I've made…

Speaking of discouragement/disappointment when it comes to scale weight... Please be aware Libra is not infallible and has its own set of problems. Gain weight for 10 days, even if it's "just" four lbs. gained and then lost when it's all said and done from acute contaminated injury based edema and antimicrobial use, and it…

If anyone shops at a Grocery Outlet, but sure to keep an eye on best by/use by/expiration dates stamped on products if you didn't already know to. A lot of the "great deals" are because the item's stamp date is either very near or already past. If the item contains ingredients or oils that can go rancid/spoil/degrade, it's…

Maybe don't put it in a 3-4+ cup serving bowl? Then it won't look like quite so pathetically little. I eat a 2 oz dry measured spaghetti portion ( ~5.65 oz or so cooked) with 6 oz of meat sauce and fresh grated Parmesan in a regular (i.e., not special or child sized) 7.5" diameter soup/cereal bowl (8 oz liquid capacity, 20…

O.K. So should the woman imaged below eat and exercise as an endomorph or an ectomorph? Remember; according to classifying people by "somatotype", people fall into only one of the three categories as they are influenced by genetics and determine how you look and perform throughout life. And those three categories are very…

Sure there is. Take a SSRI anxiolytic for that anxiety known to kill libido. Thousands (millions?) of people do every day... D: Pretty sure that's all I can say without getting flagged off the boards for impropriety. First world problems being what they are and all, lol.

Asparagus is in season - April being the high season for it - and it is currently $3.49/lb in the local Kroger's. That's in the interior PacNW. That is NOT organic. The only reason it is not $1.99/lbs. like it was at the end of March is because of some religious holiday(s). :/ Walmart may have kept their price at…

This advice works really well for jalapeno poppers done in the oven, too. Bacon is crispy by the time the jalapeno halves are cooked perfectly and the cream cheese isn't dried out/burnt attempting to crisp.

Everyone loses lens accommodation as part of the normal human aging process - the ability of your lens to ball/stretch to focus the image of an up close to arms length object on your retina properly. It is because your lens hardens, making it too rigid to do so. It is called presbyopia. Google can provide tons of…

Lamb hotpot, subbing elk backstrap for lamb. Looking forward to trying their tuna pasta bake, subbing sardine fillets for tuna to use up some of the tinned fish hoard left over from the sardine tasting adventure a while back.

If a person doing "keto" is not doing 4:1 (aka, "classic"), or maybe 3:1 if obese, s/he is not doing the ketogenic diet. Both are high fat, low everything else, and calorie restricted. Very unbalanced and only meant to be utilized until seizures were controlled and could slowly wean off of. If that's not what a person is…

So much is up to personal preferences as already outlined; also if you are looking for a protein shake or a meal replacement shake as they are not necessarily the same. I will put out to always be diligent about reading labels, especially for nutritive additives. Try singles/small containers of one for a while, then stop…
