The only "weird" things I ever did with food, I did as a child/teenager, and they are not even that weird. As I've learned from the internets, I am a pretty boring (dare I say, "vanilla"?) person when it comes to bizarre food eats/habits/rituals/etceteras. 1. Rolling pin a piece of white bread flat, slather on butter,…

No. You absolutely, every time, need to let someone know where you went and when you'll be back. You know...so if you don't make it home you don't die from something that otherwise would not have been fatal had people come looking for you in a reasonable time frame. And can mount an effective search for you considering the…

Also: No joke, always take your 10 essentials + a whistle, always have someone know where you went and your ETA to return (and call/text then if your plans change out in the field on the fly...), and be prepared for wet/cold weather at all times. I almost got hypothermia once waiting hours at Moraine lake to see if South…

You only need true heavy and stiff leather boots if you have weak ankles or want the added weight for the additional work out (kinda like loading your pack with excess water...). Or plan on, as was pointed out, mountaineering. lol What is more important in the PNW is pick something with a excellent traction and/or a sticky…

Big difference between the entire large intestine - aka, colon - and just the rectum. Huge. No one gets "...it all out at once." because it is not physiologically meant to all be evacuated at once. What is in your colon (ascending, transverse, and descending + sigmoid) is not ready to be evacuated from your body under…

Yeah, yeah, I get it; someone raised a zombie thread from the dead. It happens, people. But for future readers: It is not so much the chocolate content you have to worry about on things like a Quest bar if your dog gets a hold of one since the amount of chocolate tends to be fairly low down on the ingredient list. Well,…

Calories in avocado or bean based brownies tend to on par with plain ol' flour based brownies. So I eat the latter if I want a brownie. If you have bonafide diagnosed wheat/gluten/other ingredient in traditional brownie recipe intolerance, I can see the attraction. Otherwise...yeah, I can think of better eats to spend bean…

That is not quite how a medical degree works. No one goes through medical school twice - i.e., holding two MDs. In the US what a MD/DO does, is pursue internships/residencies/fellowships that lead to being eligible for board certification in a specialty, if that is his/her end game (goal). Being dual boarded - spending…

Ugh. An ice cream company using some women who absolutely would not eat the stuff boobs and butts (wtf...) to sell their product? To other women, no less. On that alone, No Thanks.

I'm at the point where I make it a game to keep it interesting/me engaged in the practice. For example, I will slice off a portion of rib roast estimating it to be the 8 oz I want, then weigh it to see how close/off I am. I feel it doing so will come in handy if/when I ever eat out or where I do not have control of the…

:thumbs up: Why were people skinnier 40 years ago? Not about to check 44 pages or responses to make sure I don't double-post it: Well, for some because they (the medical establishment) were still handing out amphetamine (and diuretic, and laxative, and thyroid hormone) based "rainbow diet pills" as well as downers for them…

30-40 grams. 40 grams is 1/2 cup dry for the flaked style of oatmeal I buy that actually a UK brand. I prepare 40 grams it with almost as much water as called for 1 cup dry, making it more porridge style vs. dry oatmeal. Add 14 grams of butter and 16 grams of either cream or maple syrup. It's a weekend (and occasionally…

I drink my water very warm - not quite hot, but more than room temperature. Have for the past, oh, four years or so now. I don't know why; one day cold water did not sound good so I nuked in in the microwave. Haven't looked back since. Had the security guard at a federal building once give me the side eye over it when…

Another MD with the idea to turn a specific disease plaguing a significant percentage of the population into a profit center (aka, a money making machine, b's). Go read the "Investors" link on his website. It's exactly like the MDs who have gotten into the ketamine clinics for chronic pain. Yeah, no. Unless, of course,…

The adipocytes (fat cells) that form the abnormal "lumps and bumps" of lipomas are not normal adipose (fat) tissue cells. There are multiple subtypes of lipomas out there. Generally speaking, lipomas are a group of adipocytes "gone wild", so to speak. While they are still tumors, they are benign ones versus a malignant…

I hope you do. Given the backstory, it sounds like you are on the US healthcare system as well. It should not be this hard to get a PCP (GP) to refer to a specialist; it is exactly for a reason such as this (one kidney, cancer history) why they (specialists) exist, ffs. It didn't use to be, even as little as ten years ago.…

Based on the OP's username, sounds like she's having a (albeit, lesser) Gabbi Garcia moment. I don't have anything more useful to contribute beyond pointing out the similarity.

This is something to touch base with your nephrologist concerning and get their expert medical opinion concerning, tailored to *your* specific medical history. Depending on what s/he says, and whether or not you can continue on a low carb diet road, there are high fat and moderate protein low carb diets out there what…

How many people are going to have access to champagne wine grapes? Or eat them for that matter, even if they do, given the thick skins and big seeds of wine grapes? Most table grapes - you know, what the average person is going to buy in a grocery store - are approximately the same size. Table grapes:

Yes, the circumference of your head can expand with excessive weight gain (literal fat head) and shrink again if that gained weight is lost. It is not your skull changing size; it is the loss of fat accumulation under the skin of your forehead and/or back of the head.

I am not saying men cannot or should not talk about such things, but I don't see the equivalence being proposed here.

Appreciate the suggestion. I currently reside in the USA so I don't think Cloverleaf is available as have not seen, not even in the specialty foods stores in the nearest large city to me. I settled on Cento being a favorite. Connétable, too, as far as boneless/skinless. As far as whole, I do like the Donostia and Matiz. :)

Eggs. I am egged out at the moment and could not convince myself to pick up a dozen the other day, even as emergency/breakthrough food. Usually every 3-5 years or so of regular egg consumption I get burnt out on the wee unborn beasties. It will last anywhere from a couple weeks to a solid year. Sardines. Ate waayyy too…

If you always seek your validation and self-worth from men, you will always be left with insecurity about your body shape and any perceived extra weight. Why? Because a thousand guys could come along and say you are fine/would pick you, but guaranteed one rectum opening will come along and say you are not. And you know who…

I don't log using MFP but with another calorie counting website/forum so I disabled the link. Not "hiding" anything from anyone and if I used the one here it would be public. Heck, I don't even know if it is or not on the other site. My food log would not make sense to people, anyways, because what my real calorie range is…

It is like few learn there is ever more to Atkins than just the Induction phase of 20 grams/day carbohydrates for the first two weeks. If MFP had been around when I did Atkins, perhaps I would have never yo-yo'd, as I could have learned how to manage caloric intake way back when. I am living anecdotal proof you can eat…

Wahoo! Congrats! Be sure to treat your feet after carrying you that far! I was an accidental marathoner once when I walked a marathon distance as mandatory fun years ago in the Bataan Memorial Death March. No real train up to for various and common excuses. Things got ugly after mile marker 19-20 or so for about half of…

I will never understand the draw of Cracker Barrel beyond trying once for the novelty of it. When I roadtripped across the US (WA->CA->WA->NM->TN->NY->ME->WY->NM) in the early aughts, ate at one somewhere in the SE. It was completely unmemorable beyond remembering I thought at the time (besides how yellow/brown the…
