  • A whole bundle of annoyances in one little story. I had the PERFECT gym schedule. Wake up at 4:00AM, walk into the gym at 4:15 along with one or two early morning regulars. Then, one day, a group of screaming, cursing, equipment hogging, weight dropping bros just started showing up even earlier. I adjusted my schedule to…
  • A really good aged Brick cheese can smell absolutely awful, but it tastes soooo good.
  • Creamette makes a penne pasta that is 150 calories per 56g rather than the usual 200 calories per 56g. No taste difference. 100 fewer calories over two servings that I can spend better elsewhere, like spaghetti sauce!
  • Someone said it above, but lunch is usually just people-fuel rather than something super-delicious that I can't wait to eat. I treat breakfast like that too on work days. Most days, breakfast and lunch come out of a pool of the following foods: Whey protein shakes, chicken/turkey breast, string cheese, cottage cheese w/…
  • I feel like cooking for a longer time on a lower temperature tends to break things down more, which can be good for meat, but bad for vegetables, depending on what your making. Pork roast that will eventually be shredded: Lower heat for longer time. Beef roast with potatoes and carrots that you don't want turning to mush:…
  • I've been on various airlines in the last few years, and even at my peak of 295lb. (just a hair over 21 stone) I really had no problems. Didn't even need a belt extender. When everyone is crammed in like sardines in a can, you don't really even notice how everyone fits into their seat.
  • I typically clean all the pumpkin goo off of them and then soak them in salt water for a few hours. That way I don't have to add salt during the baking process and there is more surface area left for garlic powder or chili powder etc. I also don't add any oil to them...just cook them on a baking sheet with a little cooking…
  • Pound chicken breasts to uniform thickness. Rub with olive oil. Sprinkle on both sides with mixture of 2 parts salt, 2 parts black pepper, 2 parts onion powder, and 1 part paprika. Top with 1 clove minced garlic per chicken breast. Cover with grated Parmesan cheese. Bake at 400F for 20-30 minutes depending on the thickness…
  • Leftover garlic bread with peanut butter on it...or alternatively if there's no garlic bread to be had, toast with peanut butter on it, with garlic powder sprinkled on top.
  • "zucchini pizza" Layer sliced zucchini, sliced tomato, sliced onions, and sliced mushrooms in an oiled, high-sided frying pan with some zesty Italian dressing powder and parm on each layer. Put mozzarella on top. Put a few tablespoons of liquid in the bottom of the pan to prevent burning. Cook covered on a medium burner…
  • Conair Weight Watchers 24 TR Clear Glass Scale from Target. Avoid it like the plague. It reads anywhere in a 30lb. range. Step on...273. Sweet, I'm down a bit. Better double check. Now it's 261, and 290, and 282...all within 2 minutes. So I weigh myself 5 or 6 times, get out the calculator on my phone, find the average,…
  • Something worth looking into is a salt-substitute such as "No-Salt". It's potassium chloride, like what is added to "no salt added" canned vegetables, instead of sodium chloride (table salt). Some people can't tell the difference between the two. Others, like myself, taste potassium chloride as very bitter and metallic.…
  • YES! Thank you. I don't know why oatmeal is ALWAYS prepared sweet and dumped full of sugar, nuts, fruit and syrup. Yuck. My favorite is steel-cut oatmeal made with chicken broth and seasoned with garlic powder and black pepper. Topping it with either avocado or a poached egg makes it even better.
  • Steel-cut oatmeal made with chicken broth, and half an avocado. Best. Breakfast. Ever.

  • I am 6' tall and right around 300lbs, and I've never had problems on water slides. You'll be fine.
  • Brown some hamburger, mix in a bag of broccoli slaw and cook it with the meat until the broccoli is tender (add a few tablespoons of water to steam the broccoli). Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide it up and serve with a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt on top. 10 minutes from taking the ingredients out of…
  • Congratulations! You look great. Out of curiosity, have you noticed any changes in your tattoos throughout the weightloss? Are they maintaining shape as the skin shrinks? None of mine are in places that I think would be affected by losing weight, but I had never really thought about it before.
  • I wonder how much of this is from people not understanding the calorie content and the volume of food they eat everyday. For example, the shrimp tacos or chicken sliders in the original post (which both look awesome, by the way). One person can look at the serving size and say "I can fit 2 sliders into my calorie allotment…
  • Maybe we're thinking of different seltzer water. I dropped diet soda for seltzer water and it's been great. And at 64cents for a 1-liter bottle, it's less than half the price of soda. Seltzer water with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice is great. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Vintage-Original-Seltzer-33.8-fl-oz/10448144#about
  • As I said in another post, I don't know why everyone automatically tries to make oatmeal sweet. I find it gross. Try making it with low sodium chicken broth, garlic powder, and black pepper. Only add as much salt as you absolutely need to. I also add some sliced avocado on top occasionally. It's a million times better than…
  • I've got just under 70lbs. to go, and have zero friends on here so far.
  • Everyone puts all sorts of fruit and sugar in their oatmeal. I can't stand sweet oatmeal, so I make it with low sodium chicken broth and add pepper and garlic powder. Savory oatmeal is the best! On weekends when I have more time, I'll slice up a bit of avocado and eat that with the oatmeal.
