  • Yes! I never thought I would be in this boat. I always hated exercise and didn't understand people who "needed" to do it. But now that I'm a couple of years into running and weight lifting, I've become one of those people. If I go too long without some kind of workout, I feel sort of edgy and just generally out-of-sorts.…
  • Oh wow - I'm going to go dive into that thread! Thanks for the link!
  • Thanks for posting that. I'm 47 and knew I was having perimenopause symptoms but there were a lot of things on that list that I'm having that I didn't realize could be perimenopause (the itchy/crawly skin, dizziness, teeth aching, tinnitus, etc.).
  • Tillamook cheese! We don't get that where I live in Canada so whenever we go into the States (Alaska) I bring back a block of their extra-aged cheddar. And on a trip down the Oregon coast, we visited the Tillamook cheese factory. It was HEAVEN.
  • Love C25K! I completed it a while ago and have been running 5K on my treadmill a couple of times a week ever since. I just ran my first 5K outdoors yesterday (on trails near my house). Before I started on C25K, I never in a million years would have thought I could do that. It really has changed my life.

  • I love any and all cheese, except cottage cheese (which I refuse to accept is cheese) and mild cheddar (I don't understand the point of it). For my birthday, we go to a local restaurant and I have an entire order of saganaki to myself. My favourite cheese is Black Bomber extra-aged cheddar from Snowdonia. It's in black wax…
  • I really like Shock Absorber brand. I'm a 32DD.
  • If you're alone and able to get up from your desk now and then, you could use an online exercise generator/reminder. I had one that would prompt me every hour to get up and do some random exercise that it pulled from a database (e.g. wall sits, pushups, planks, etc.). It forced me to move once an hour, even when I was…
  • I second the recommendation of Shock Absorber sports bras. I love them. Super comfortable and hold everything in place. The style I wear has two sets of clasps in back, which really helps with fit. I'm in Canada and I've ordered them online from The Bay. Edited to add: checked the style and it's the Shock Absorber Active…
  • Another C25K grad here. I was exactly like you when I started exercising last August. Had been almost completely sedentary, could barely run one minute without feeling like I was dying. I winged it for a few months, running for short periods and then walking. Finally earlier this winter I found C25K. I also took the advice…
  • I've got 3: 1) Running 5K without stopping (could barely run 1 minute straight 6 months ago) 2) Deadlifting 100 lbs, 7 reps 3) Bench-pressing 60 lbs, 4 reps Not huge lifts but huge for me!
  • I have the same problem. Cannot find a headband that works on me. I finally gave up. Now I just put my hair in a ponytail and pin my bangs back with barrettes.
  • Another vote for C25K (I used the Zen Labs app, but did it on a treadmill). When I started working out last fall, I could barely run for a 1 minute stretch. Then this winter, I did C25K and now I can run the full 5k with no problem. I go reallllly slow (4.1 mph some days, so the 5K takes 45 min) but at least I can do it.…
  • In setting up my home gym, I went with dumbbells instead of kettle bells so I can use them for a variety of things in place of a barbell (overhead press, bench press, etc.). I didn't want to have to worry about doing a bench press with a barbell and needing to get someone in my family to come spot me, and I didn't think…
  • Everyone else has given great answers already so just wanted to share my experience back in my first couple of weeks. I had a similar thing happen as you had (felt I was doing everything right but saw a big jump on the scale). Turned out I was getting my period a week early and it was all water weight. I've lost 11 lbs…
  • I do. Wildlife biology (now teaching biology/ecology/etc. at a college).
