I understand that sentiment. I too have struggled my entire life with my weight. Motivation is something that comes and goes. Tools and successes will come and go (I've done all the diets, had the surgery, done more diets - all has failed). The thing I'm working to do now is to UNDERSTAND myself (I say this as something…

I agree with the suggestions here: Take pictures once a month (I took one of me trying on shorts that I could fasten but not zip, then a month later, took one of them zipped -- albeit snugly). When you start second-guessing the effectiveness of your diet (i.e. that dratted plateau that seems to strike once a month), you…

I'm 44 and 5'4". I started at 313 lbs this latest round - that was 11/18/15. I got desperate because a month later had lost only 6 pounds. I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic but was deeply afraid I'd already gone over the edge into full diabetes (problems with my feet, dizziness, weak, 12/night peeing trips, etc.) I…

Ah -- I should caution anyone who wants to drink that much water: You have to keep the electrolytes up and spread out your vitamin/mineral supplements over the course of the day - you'll flush too much from your system otherwise and cause health problems (I read up on it a bit when cautioned by docs).

I am no expert - I can only tell you of my recent discovery: I've taken to drinking 4+ liters of water a day (mostly because I'm on a super-low calorie diet and I want to be sure I'm flushing the garbage from the bloodstream, liver, kidneys, etc.). On those few days in between - when I forget or don't have access to that…

I like ElizabethOak...'s advice, as well as AspenDan's. Just start simple and keep to simple for a month. Then when you're feeling more confident, change out one "negative" or unhealthy thing for healthier - yet TASTY - alternative. If it's not tasty, you're going to go back to the old favorite. For me, it was ramen. I…

I understand completely about the motivation to be motivated -- and it irritates me at first to push myself to go out (I just want to stay at home) but being alone in my head can lead to self-denigration and depression (big time -- I struggle with this frequently). I need to restart my own "step out" again. I did it a long…

I don't know what diet you're following but mine is more about removing (altogether) sugar and most carbs from my diet (medically-monitored). I've managed to lose 16 pounds since I started 3.5 weeks ago. It hasn't always been easy, but I've been amazed that I feel so energized and tingly since I went into ketosis. Good…

I thought I was just imagining it - or that maybe my shoes were getting stretched out (which may still be it) - but I have lost 3 inches off my ankles already so I imagine my feet too have shrunk. As for where I carry my weight -- all over but it's most accumulated around the hips and thighs :(

Standing up for yourself and holding yourself first is hard to do when you're just learning the process. Give yourself time and patience and acknowledge sometimes you'll help, sometimes you won't --- and that's OK too. After a while, you'll notice you feel stronger and more confident for practicing "no" - it's a wonderful,…

I know how you feel. My brother lost his place (they sold his building and it was reclassified to commercial and the tenants evicted) then fell and ended up in and out of the hospital since before Halloween. I was stressing out about it so bad, I nearly jeopardized my job with an emotional blow-up. I've sought counseling…

That's amazing! As is your determination and perseverance. Definitely an inspiration to those of us who have 120+ to lose. You pointed out that you're willing to share so if you don't mind, I am going to share your story with a few of my friends, OK? Congratulations on your ongoing success!!

Garden of Life has a number of awesome products. You can get it via Amazon or at a vitamin store. (Disclaimer: I have never used them for workout recovery or anything like that - just meal replacements. Subsequent blood tests showed improved protein, iron, vitamin and mineral levels in my blood - and this was the only…

I would say cut out carbs at one meal and boost your water intake to 10 cups a day (at first you'll think you're drowning, but it'll even out and you'll feel great). That's the most moderate diet I've ever been on and since you're so young and this may be your first attempt to lose weight, it will likely be effective on…

This seems fun. I would say #2-never tried smoking is the lie. 1. I don't own a TV 2. I love the news 3. I have a great life

I am 98 pounds from Onderland  I love seeing post threads like this where folks are encouraging others to push towards their goal!! Keep up the good work, all of you!!

Oh - and about eating with someone who isn't counting their calories -- if you're the one preparing the food, they don't really need to know you're measuring their food too and you may end up helping them eat healthy too.

I'm relearning how to use it (haven't weighed/measured food since I was at Weight Watchers as a teenager--it's been 30 years since then). I love it -- it helps keep me honest in food measurements. I want to eyeball an item and say - meh, it works but when I measure it, it turns out to be 3 ounces more than I thought, that…
