Game over

I wanted to cook up an apple cinnamon pancake for dinner... I had a whole wheat turkey burger and a banana instead...

I would say it depends on your rate of loss and whether or not you're happy with it. If you find you're losing too fast and don't want a reward day then try eating more calories each day. Or just take the reward day to eat what and as much as you want. The rule of thumb that anyone will tell you on MFP is to eat 50-75% of…

BMI doesn't account for muscle mass (as far as I know).

Here here! It's about making progress, not being perfect!
-
I just ate a whole bag of Doritos (230g, 1200 calories)... OOPS!! Lol Not the healthiest choice but I lost too much this week, had a successful 7 days of exercise, and I wanted it so I had it. And HEY!! I'm still under my calorie goal NOT including my exercise burns. Yay! The moral of the story is that a little binge…

CICO is great. I'm a compulsive eater who has been trying (and failing) for half a decade to lose weight. I've been counting calories for two months now and it's been a complete game changer; lost 17 pounds so far, exercising more, making amazing leaps and bounds in eating better (gone from high fat, processed, deep fried…

Thank you very much, @lporter229 I've been focusing attention on my knees today and while you're very right that I don't yet have a very good reference point to differentiate between pain and soreness I'm fairly confident that it is the latter (making me think it's a weakness issue and not actual damage). I did a…

@moyer566 agreed, but I've had sore knees longer than I've been running. The doctor visit is due regardless. I didn't think shoes were that important but then again my only experience with using them is in the body of a teenager lol I'm also Canadian so the doctor is free ;)
-
@LargeFoot just cheap Payless runners right now until I can guarantee that this is a permanent life change and my resolve won't waver again ;) I just booked an appointment with my physician so I'll forgo running until I get more insight and plan to buy better shoes then.

Thanks guys. I'll look into new shoes and a physio :)

You're not losing any fat because you're starving yourself and the body's trying to store it all. Starvation mode doesn't work. Look at it this way; I'm 209, female, work out less than you, and am losing 2-3 pounds/week on 1800 calories a day. My advise; bump your calories back up to maintenance for a few weeks, reset your…

I'd like to add a question on to this: If your activity level setting is supposed to not include exercise then where would the step count fall under; activity level or exercise? Should one eat back those calories or not? Should activity level be affected by how much one walks?
-
This. It's not a race. Eat to maintenance if it's a particularly tough day/week. You'll be okay.

That's a painful wake up call! I wish you both luck and good health! Dump the guy. Do it for yourself. Find a better fellow who appreciates you for you. My motivations: 1. Hitting 220 for the first time. Boo! 2. I've always wanted to participate in obstacle runs, specifically Spartan and Run for Your Lives. 3. I like…

Great job on the weight loss! If I were you I would slow it down, though, especially if you're hungry. You might still be starving your body even though you're reaching your macros. I know it can be frustrating when you're losing so fast but it's really the better way to go. I would save calories for apples. Every time you…

@cparmenter72591 try starting with a simple 5 minute stretch in the morning when you wake. After a few days or weeks add in a 5 minute stretch before bed, then 5/5 stretch/cardio sessions and so on.
-
I start T25 on Monday. It looks like a lot of fun. I've just been doing the stretching session this past week and even that is pretty intense for me right now (sat in a computer chair for 5 years ;) ). It all depends on what you like, though. You can peruse the connectable apps on MFP or see what google play/App Store has…

'Exercise relieves cramps because it helps release beta-endorphins, which are internal opioids -- your own “human morphine,” according to Kelly’s doctor, Gustavo Rossi, MD, an obstetrician-gynecologist at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. “It produces analgesia [pain relief] and helps to burn the prostaglandins --…

I don't like excuses. Not in any situation (barring, of course, actual limitations). If you can't own up to your choices then you'll never learn to make good ones.

Thanks for the link, Tara. It was pretty cool to see what I can look forward to with this year's goal.

Think of counting calories like a game. Find ways to make it fun and try to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Mini-goals seem to work for some. Others swear by pre-logging. I find weighing myself every day is highly entertaining. I don't care about the numbers but it's fun to see them fluctuate throughout the…

Good luck to you :)

I sincerely hope that's not the only reason because that makes no sense at all.

Baby steps! Be strong! And have fun!

Why did you choose to go vegan?
-
I don't think counting calories is the way to go for everyone. If you're already eating healthy portion sizes and making proper nutrient decisions then keeping a diary might have more negative effects than positive. If you do want to stick with it then perhaps you should try increasing your calorie allowance for a while…

And here I thought I was losing too fast at 6 pounds since the first. ;) Maybe up your calories a little and take it slower? You know you want this! Keep it up!

I agree with seltzer and BZAH. It all depends on how you like your water. I hate drinking water out of anything but plastic. It also can't be too warm, too cold, too salty (I live on a ranch with soft water), or not salty enough. I really like the Powerade bottles and keep one filled with water with me at all times. You…

The only reason to eat smaller meals is because it doesn't expand your stomach as much as one large meal. An expanded stomach messes with your hungry/full signals and tends to cause overeating/binging. A smaller stomach helps to sustain a feeling of satiation.
