  • There is so much advice and information out there that when you are just doing your own thing it can be really really hard to stick with it when people are claiming that your way doesn't work and their way is better. I think to combat that, people start telling others that THEIR way is better and the other way doesn't…
  • ??? Is this a joke? Your brain is made primarily of fat.
  • Your body uses alcohol first for energy before anything else. Does that mean it has a nutritional purpose?
  • Many people have ONLY found success by cutting carbs. When people come on mfp complaining that they can't lose weight people suggest to try low carb because it worked for them so it might work for others. How is that misinformation? Not everyone needs to cut carbs but some people do. Every body is different.
  • Thanks mat :) I do agree that eventually good science is going to win out and we are going to slowly change the idea that saturated fat is going to kill you, but I do think it's going to be a slow change for science and an even slower change for government bodies and groups such as the AHA who have have a lot of stake in…
  • If a consensus has already been reached, it is incredibly difficult for new information that goes against the consensus too be considered and make an impact on changing the current view. For example, saturated fat and cholesterol. The newer studies which have been really well constructed fail time and time again to prove…
  • I completely disagree. While eating around 50- 100g of carbs a day and I feel absolutely great and have loads of energy and lost around 10lbs a month for 4 months. It took a couple of months before I experienced the symptoms of ketosis (crazy energy boosts, weird pee, weird breath) but now I get them all the time. 20g…
  • about 100g a day
  • Your diet definitely wouldn't be considered low carb. Low carb is considered to be at most 100g PER DAY, not per meal. Most people that say they do low carb eat less than half of that so I don't think your hair loss can be attributed to a low carb diet.
  • How do you figure this?
  • Well... not really. I don't think your ancestor could have got oil from a rapeseed.
  • What I would do is preportion the rest of it into tupperware then split it by how many portions you have left + how many you've already eaten. you don't really need to weigh out each one if you're the only one eating it because ultimately, you are going to eat the 2626 calories so each portion averages out
  • The clean eaters probably feel like they are eating really well and want to feel proud about it. The 'dirty' eaters are probably proud they can eat processed food and still hit their goals. I'm neither of these people so this is only speculation. I'm sure it will all kick off with the members of each gang in due time
  • I switched to full fat everything when I decided to lose weight and people are just so perplexed by it. Seriously the whole fat == fat thing really took a hold of the populace and it's going to be hard to shift.
  • This was the fast food episode of Penn & Tellers Bull****
  • Man.. My wimpy digestive system can only manage a shot glass worth of heavy cream at once
  • anything that isn't a trans fat or a weird vegetable oil

  • Are you at risk of developing diabetes? If not, worry not about sugar. If so, stick to no more than 2 servings of fruit a day. Sugar is sugar regardless of where it comes from.
  • Any pasta dish. I will eat either until there is nothing left or im so sick I cant move.
  • This again? You use your common bloody sense about it!! If you already know if a food is calorie dense or not you can know whether to bother counting it or not. Of course I'm going to track an avocado, it is made of pure fat and is very calorie dense. If I'm also adding a single stick of celery im not going to bother…
  • I dont think a binge is ever healthy but there is uncontrollable binging, which pertains more to binge eating disorder and there are binges that... I wouldn't say they are controlled but they have more of an element of not caring to stop rather than being unable to stop. I do agree that some people use the word incorrectly…
  • I think the problem here is that you are suggesting that the word 'binge' doesn't have any valid meaning outside of the context of binge eating disorder which I don't think is true EDIT: Although it looks like I might be wrong here...
  • 19.5% body fat is still in the very lean range. More body fat might be healthier for your body.
  • To be fair, I do think other people use the term binge in a way that is completely inaccurate. If you just ate over your calorie goal, but you didn't do it all at once I wouldn't call that a binge. And I think it has to be defined by volume of food, and not just the calories. I dont know if eating a cup of almonds can be…
  • I think you can knowingly binge. A binge is defined by eating a large and unneeded amount of food in a short period of time. This is usually coupled with a feeling of being unable to stop but I think if you know what you are doing, and choose to continue that can be called a binge but not a disordered kind of binge
  • I'm guessing that you heard that buckwheat noodles are healthier than normal noodles. This might well be true, but it isn't down to a calorie difference!! healthy doesn't mean low calorie.
  • The jury is out on cholesterol. More recent studies show that dietary cholesterol has very little effect on overall cholesterol, and also high cholesterol isn't really that bad for you. There is just one type of cholesterol (LDL type B) that is damaging. Conclusion: eat eggs. you can even fry or scramble them if you want,…

  • to everyone that thinks they have the right bra size I would implore then to actually measure their rib cage in inches (right under the boobs, pull the tape measure quite tight!!). Round that measurement to the closest even number and see if it matches the band size you are wearing. if it doesn't then you aint wearing the…
  • I dont think you can turn off calorie tracking
  • Don't worry too much about going slightly over your fat macro. The mfp standard macros aren't for everyone and many people eat way more fat than that without any issues.
