  • If you cant take chocolate out of your life, try weaning yourself onto darker chocolates and eating a bit less.
  • There is always going to be a variance on the exact calorie count and composition of a food, especially more natural foods like meat, where the amount of fat is going to be dependent on the animal it came from. It would be impossible to be completely accurate as to how much fat each slice of your bacon has, so the…
  • Even though you say your sleeping enough, if you give yourself a bit more time to sleep you might find yourself able to get going without coffee. Try getting to bed half an hour or an hour earlier than usual and see how it goes.
  • With low carb you usually lose a lot of weight really quickly in the first coupe of weeks from water weight, then it levels off to a normal 1-2lb a week loss. You are still losing every DAY so it isn't a plateau.
  • Yes it spikes insulin but it doesn't spike your blood sugar - which is the dangerous part
  • For low carbers, a cauliflower crust is really good
  • What other food can be produced with in high yields without an agricultural system that damages the soil? And can this be produced in places that have poor soil but can sustain animals like goats who eat scrub? If not how can we get them to these people without just causing more problems in their societies? I have read…
  • As someone who took a blood test and found themselves prediabetic, excessive carbs aren't worth the risk
  • I think it her overall points about grain production and how eating grains isn't good for yourself or the environment and couldn't be a solution to world hunger are valid. You couldn't feed the world on a vegan diet without grain, and you especially couldn't keep the whole world healthy on a vegan diet without modern…
  • Please see a doctor and get your blood sugar checked
  • Well most meals usually contain components of each macro so all you really have to do is decide what you want to eat, then tweak the amounts of each part of the meal until you hit your macros. I usually put my meal in mfp then keep tweaking amounts and checking the pie chart until it looks right.
  • I wasn't suggesting it caused weight gain but fructose IS metabolized by the liver, that isn't in dispute I doubt with normal use it's really that bad for you but I personally choose not to use it because it is no better than any other sweetener, is quite expensive, and i'd rather not cause my liver to do more work than it…
  • Even with the fat and skin and panfried it is still a healthy food.

  • I think its just hype. It's meant to be natural a low GI sweetener, which is is. But, the sugar it's composed of is mainly fructose, which studies show goes STRAIGHT to your liver to be converted into fat. Fat on your liver no less. So personally I don't choose to use it.
  • I'm doing low carb high fat but probably not as low carb as most people here. I stick with under 100g a day. Anyone here can feel free to add me :)
  • I used to... It's not been hard to refuse free food but now I'm really hyper aware of just how many opportunities there are to eat for free that you haven't planned for
  • Gluten free is pretty easy if you are eating whole foods and cooking your own meals. Most processed food has wheat in it somewhere and thus gluten, so I would try to avoid those. Also bread and pasta are going to have to go. If you are looking for a group to turn to for ideas and stuff I would suggest looking into paleo as…
  • You have to employ common sense. Of course you log high fat items like cheese, dressing and nuts but a bit of lettuce? I'm not weighing that out. And if I have a whole bunch of different leaves in there im not figuring out how much of each I have. just say 100g of lettuce and get on with your life.
  • They still have calories but for most veggies the calories are SO negligible that if you didn't log them or just logged inaccurately, it would be made up for in the 5% margin of error you have on the calorie counts of ALL your other food OR the natural variance in your normal activity throughout the day. So I'm not going…
  • I thought it was incredibly clear in context that she only meant the leaves and really low cal stuff that barely adds up to 50 calories. I think people just wanted to jump on someone and intentionally misinterpreted the question so they could criticise.
  • Are you plotting your weigh-ins on a graph? If you aren't then if you weigh yourself everyday you cannot see the bigger picture. Weight loss doesn't necessarily work on a day by day basis, so if you stick to your plan for a day you cant see the results the next time you step on the scale, and it is a little naive to think…
  • I think if someone was close to you they would be able to break a social taboo and say that. Is that what you are mad at? Social taboos? Would you rather it be okay that everyone can make comments on everything about a person? I dont understand what you are mad about.
  • If it isn't easy... you're not trying hard enough??? WTF?
  • My main problem with people saying it isn't ok to be fat is that a person has to continue being fat while they lose weight. It can be really difficult and discouraging to look after yourself in this way while still being in a body that "isn't okay" by society's standards for whatever reason.
  • I'm very much in the pro fat camp!
  • People care about you and want to make sure that you haven't got thin through dangerous practises like crash dieting or diet pills, or that you will continue losing weight when you dont need to.
  • I think that depends on you. Did you used to be a smaller shoe size as an adult? If so you are likely to drop down again. However, a strappy shoe like that? You might want to hedge closer to your current shoe size.
  • What scale did you use to measure yourself the first time? If you are getting consistent results now on two scales it could be that the first measurement was the one that was wrong. Either way i'd just forget that it looked like you gained 12lbs and just work from the weight you have that has proven consistent and move…
  • when I have a salad I just log some amount of lettuce and dont bother weighing and counting things like leaves, celery and cucumber. It just has so little calories that an estimation is fine. Of course I log the cheese, nuts and dressing though, no one was suggesting not doing that. I do look everything up before I choose…
