I just got a Fitbit Charge HR, and I am really enjoying it. It just adds another layer of motivation for me to keep moving. I have it linked with MFP, but I still log everything in MFP. I think it compliments my program.

Welcome! I've been using the free app for 4 months, and it does everything I need it to do. I have had good results using it. I would suggest using it for at least a month or two and then decide if you need the features of the full app. Your consistency and accurate logging is all it takes to be successful.

Lots of activity in this group since I was last here. Great to see so many people in my own age group. I'm 47, but I feel better than I have in years.

When I started logging, it was eye-opening to me how much I was really consuming. I call it mindless eating. Logging changes the way you think of food. Now I carefully consider every bite before I eat it, and I log it before I eat it. There have been times that I looked up a food, then changed my mind based on the…

This is the one I wear. Very good support with underwire. http://www.herroom.com/elomi-el8041-energise-underwire-sports-bra-with-j-hook.shtml?utm_source=adv&utm_medium=search&utm_campaign=pla&utm_content=Elom01-EL8041&gclid=CJLcjunt5ssCFQgaaQodydwM0g&kwid=89245728186x21258930306x149281146h

^^True story! She's a great fitness pal! :)

I am also from Cajun Country, and you are right, we love our seasoning! When I first started logging, I had the same problem with my sodium levels. Then I noticed that when I lowered the sodium intake, the scale went down (water loss I'm sure). I love Tony's seasoning, but it is insanely high in sodium. You could try the…

Stream Netflix? Read a book, or listen to an audio book?

I watch whatever Netflix series I am currently watching, or listen to audiobooks. I walk briskly, I do not run. Makes the time fly by and I am not watching the minutes count down on the treadmill.

I'm 47 and only a couple months into my journey to lose about 40-50 lbs. I am active daily, and share my food/exercise diary with friends. If you are committed and active on MFP, please feel free to add me as a friend. I have had more success using MFP than anything else I've tried in the past, and it is because of great…

Spent the afternoon catching up on posts here...it's been a while since I've posted. I am a little over 9 weeks into my journey, and the weight was coming off at about a pound a week during the first two months, but now the scale hasn't moved in a couple weeks. I'm gonna keep on going! Slow progress is still progress :)

Other than fruit, I love Mini rice cake popped chips. I like savory snacks, so I get different flavors to change it up. You can find them by the rice cakes. Also, hummus with pretzel crisps is one of my go-to snacks. I also keep Fiber One protein bars in my purse - my favorite is coconut almond.

I'm at work, sitting at my desk and laughing out loud. You have a gift for writing! I've often wondered about the whole Paleo craze, and your post just convinced me that it would never work for this food-loving, cajun girl! Thanks for a great post!

I often get differing info, too. I usually use my MapMyFitness app (free version), and input my activity. This will take your height, weight, etc. into account. It's best to find one source that you can use for all activity. If I can't find my activity listed there, I sometimes use this site:…

MFF helped me with portion sizes. I can't afford to do the meals exclusively - way too expensive. With 3 meals a day, you can do your own fruits, snacks, etc. Feel free to add me as a friend. My diary is open, and you can see the types of foods I eat daily.

Just found this thread today, and I'm in! I'm 47, a native of Louisiana's Cajun Country (we love food!), but currently living in the Houston, TX area. I'm on a journey to lose 40-50 pounds this year. My profile and food diary is open to friends.

Hot 20 minute soak in a bath with epsom salts will help.

Congrats on deciding to start. My advice is to start simply. Just enter all your stats into the app, and choose the sedentary or lightly active setting to compute your calories. Log every bite, and get a food scale so that you can do it accurately. Eyeballing and guesstimating will not be accurate. A safe weight-loss goal…

Your daily activity should not be counted in your calories burned, unless you are doing extra strenuous activity that is above your normal activity. Do not take back and eat your calories burned on normal activity. Only count your workouts and what is above and beyond normal activity.

I have been on Synthroid for 7 years, and it is best to take in the morning, on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before you eat or drink anything. I have it in a pill organizer, right by my bathroom sink so I see it first thing in the morning. It is habit now. I take all other supplements in the evening before bed…

I am also from the Houston area, and have both of these stores nearby. I have shopped both, and there are a couple of specialty items worth going for now and then (great dried fruit, kettle corn), but for everyday shopping, you can't beat HEB. In fact, when TJ's moved into the Houston area, HEB has duplicated many of their…
