Hahahaha! Thats good!!

So true - everyday that I dont give up is a success. Everyday that I eat to plan, or plan to eat. Every day it gets just a little easier and more rewarding. Its almost trite to say it, but it just is so satisfying to be in control, and to see results, whether its an ounce down or a zipper up.

Thats brilliant - congrats on reaching a milestone!!

Lunch is just over - 1 home made beef burger, 1 whole wheat burger bun, tomato, onion, relish and ketchup, and then a Yoplait boston cream pie flavoured yogurt. Comes in at about 340 cals.

Make your own burger with xlean ground sirloin or ground beef, load with toppings (counting everything) and eat in a lettuce leaf if you are avoiding carbs. Or only have half the bun. I had burgers for dinner last night and leftovers for lunch today. It really is possible to eat like an average person and not restrict…

I remember saying to a friend "I would do anything to lose weight" and she said "Then why dont you?" It really was an eye opener to realize my actions were not matching up to what my goals were. If you really want something, you really have to put effort into it, and believe in what you are doing. If your actions are not…

This is a real can of worms to open, particularly because it is difficult to agree on the exact definition of "addiction", and semantics. Personally, I think if you feel comfortable applying the term as you understand it to be to yourself or your behaviour, then fill your boots. But others may not agree and will label your…

I loved your rant!! I read it a couple of times, it was so good!! Congrats on your big decsions. Your children will thank you - not in the foreseeable future, cuz kids are like that, but one day, when they visit you in the retirement home, and they think you are asleep, they will say to each other in hushed tones "Gee, Mom…

Please dont doubt your success unless you have a good reason. You have done remarkably well - take some credit for all the hard work that you have put into this! So I am in the "relax" camp on this. Stay calm and carry on.....

Yes, the best advice appears above - its in the past, you cant change the past, so move on. But please dont let yourself be hypercritical of your past behaviour - its only going to be self defeating - you are not terrible for being human, and it is not helpful to beat yourself up about it. New day, new opportunities -…

I usually make my own too, with a store bought crust and my own toppings, but last weekend when I almost burned the house down making dinner (not a happy story) we ordered from Papa Johns. I was still within my calorie limit, but the sodium was WAY over the recommended daily allowance. No tummy trouble either. I think I…

South Eastern Ontario, Canada - Loblaws for the widest selection and a one stop experience - if I have more time, I shop the local butchers, asian market, farmers market in the summer, Farm Boy for stuff thats on sale (its a store that sells ONLY food - no toilet paper, no swizzle sticks). Never Walmart, for labour…

Find a good tailor! It can be even more economical than buying new. I have had waists taken in, sleeves taken up, darts put in to follow curves - a good tailor is worth their weight in gold!
-
Shut the front door - Sex on the Beach was breakfast lunch and dinner the last couple of times I was in Cuba. Along with food of course, but manoman, they were good!

AND a Cadbury easter creme egg (34 grams) is only 150 calories!!

I can easily portion control the turkey, sides etc, but when it comes to dessert, yeah - I want it all. So this year I am making a lower calorie cheesecake, and having an angelfood cake with fruit and toppings. I will skip the mashed potatoes and gravy (I can have that anyday) for a slice of cake!!

I like to imagine myself in smaller clothes, being healthier and more active with my granddogs, like taking them to the dog park instead of just letting them run around in the back yard. I look forward to greater confidence when I have to speak in front of people cuz I feel better and look healthier. I am starting to enjoy…

In my experience - and I have done all three approaches to weight loss over the years - the only sustainable program for me was/is caloric deficit. Nothing is (literally) off the table. I can do this anywhere, all the time, for the rest of my life.
-
OMFG - please stop - tears are rolling down my face as I am laughing out loud!!!
-
Absolutely and in a positive way - my problem was portion control. Now when I prepare a dish, I weigh the whole amount and then divide by the number of servings it is supposed to have, so I can get the right size serving. Huge benefit for me.

Logging for me is reassurance that I am holding myself accountable, and that I am honestly doing all I can do to unlearn habits that have been harmful to me and replace them with habits that are enjoyable, sustainable and move me closer to my goal of reducing my weight. Its my little "pat on the back" at the end of the…

I think you are being disingenuous - I read on the boards here every day about people who express body image concerns, guilt, shame, self loathing and various degrees of depression because they are unable to control their reactions to tempting food. Are you suggesting that simply changing a habit from putting food on the…

That is SO not what I said, but if thats how you want to interpret it, be my guest.

I would like to offer another perspective. Even after you have successfully reached your goal or ideal weight, you may still have this problem. Sometimes the condition is genetic, and it has a medical name which for the life of me I cannot remember right now - I am sure you can google it. My cousin ended up having surgery…

LOL - sorry but both Waco and Twin Peaks have a particular association for me - both weird!!

Isnt it also the chain that had the biker shoot out a few months ago?

Diligently writes this down on a postie for future reference..................

I think you are going to have to guesstimate based on the ingredients that you can identify. The greens are probably not worth much more than 30 calories, if that. From the product info website, PC caesar dressing has 60 cals per tablespoon, so you can deduct that. That leaves you croutons, bacon and cheese to calculate -…

Out in the real world, a person can walk away from the tempting food, or not purchase it. At home, they can walk away from it, but it is there when they get back. All I am saying is that it seems sad to me that if a small adjustment on the part of one person's behaviour or habit would have a positive impact on another…

I didnt say she had to give up any food - just modify her habit about when or where she kept it or ate it. i dont think that significantly infringes on her personal rights!
