  • Try posting in the Gaining Weight and Body Building section of the forums.
  • I was thinking the same thing - I was going to take a measuring container and pour in water to the appropriate ml mark, and then weigh the whole thing to get the gram weight. Then using the same container, I empty the water and add in the Chapmans (I like frozen yogurt) to reach the same weight, and call that the "weight"…
  • Your insightful comment comes at a perfect time, when I have been struggling with a decision. This helped. Cheers.
  • I didnt even realize there was a special diet to prevent stones - I have to have one removed, its so big. Just waiting for The Call. I can live without spinach, but without chocolate? EEK!!
  • Check out the Recipe forum - lots of great ideas there.
  • there is a television show out now called Carnival Eats. Its like a train wreck to me - I know I shouldnt stare, but I cant tear my eyes away. Some (most) of the food on offer looks absolutely disgusting. Deep fried everything - literally, pick something weird and chances are its been deep fried at a fair. And portions…
  • I have done an Alaskan cruise and the opportunities to be active while off the ship can more than make up for what you can reasonably consume while on the ship. You dont go on vacation to eat. You go to see the sights and have new experiences, so dont make food the focus. Eat sensibly, keeping your goals in mind, and enjoy…
  • No I dont, because I cant see that it would be helpful for anyone else. I use a lot of recipe names, which dont include the individual ingredients or how its put together, for example, I would log 1 serving of Looneyspoons Roast Feast - which tells you absolutely nothing.
  • I have been on thyroid medication for 28 years. I have been my heaviest on this meds, and currently, I am at my lightest on this meds, having lost 115 lbs since Oct 2015. If you are on the right medication and dosage, you can lose weight like anyone else. Dont use your condition as an excuse not to try your hardest.
  • If you are staying in the hospital for any length of time other than a couple overnights, usually a steward will ask you what you would like to eat, and there is a selection to choose from. Sometimes the selections include calorie counted diets, so you may be able to choose a "1200 calorie" diet, or any other that they…
  • I think its a shock that anyone who uses a food scale discovers pretty early on in the process. Yes, serving sizes are really out of whack. Thats why it is really important to weigh everything to be as accurate as possible with calorie counts.
  • Drain them - you dont consume the water. The instructions for every recipe I have seen using beans is to drain them first. Even if you DO consume the liquid, its water, so no additionally calories but will affect the weight of a serving so you would get fewer beans with the liquid than if you drain them.
  • Experiment - eat cereal for breakfast for a week, and then eat eggs for breakfast for a week and see how you feel. Ultimately its your body and you can fuel it as you like. Or not. I dont eat breakfast and I dont feel either sluggish or energized - I just AM.
  • Blend them up and put them in pasta sauces, or meat loaf, or soups. You must have eaten them as a kid?
  • And of course there is the caution about taking meds with grapefruit juice.
  • How are you measuring your calories? Are you weighing and properly portioning your food? I am sure you are getting more than 2000 calories a week - per day, I trust? If MFP gave it to you, then trust it. C'mon, you need to give us a lot more info than this......
  • Artificial sweeteners are among the most studied substances in the world. While there are some studies that dont come out and completely and categorically state they are safe, there is no evidence that they cause harm unless there is an underlying condition. I am a Splenda girl myself, and I have no hesitation in…

  • What annoys me is people using their first post to ask "I want to lose weight - what should I eat?". I mean really - do a little research. Or at least tell us what you like or dont like, if you are on a special diet or have allergies, or SOMETHING to give anyone a clue as to what to suggest. I just want to answer "eat what…
  • I am right in the depths of a stretch of stress eating and its just doing my head in. I have some surgery coming up, and I cant seem to stop stressing about it. I have put on 9 pounds. I dont think its all fat, but I may just be delusional. I know what I have to do, its just doing it that is the difficult thing! I am still…
  • Maybe instead of a cake, you can make cupcakes - that way the portions are smaller than a slice of cake (perhaps!) and they are easier to give away than a half eaten cake.
  • That is true for sure, but I am not a bread gourmet, and the subtleties of Daves would probably be wasted on me. Give me a good rye any day! And I used to work in the corrections field, so I have some philosophical issues to deal with.
  • Try it. But think "Am I going to fast for the rest of my life?" In other words, is this a lifestyle I can sustain? There is a thing called intermittent fasting, which is simply a way of eating only during a certain window of hours in a day - say from 4pm to 7pm., or other period of more or less time. Some people find it…
  • My local grocery store started carrying Dave's Killer Bread but I cant justify spending $7 on a loaf of bread - thats just nutz.
  • I've lost 115lbs and would like to lose 25 more.
  • 115lbs since October 2015 and not a single gym visit, jumping jack or dvd - just calorie counting and portion control.
  • Unfortunately you cannot spot reduce - to lose weight in problem areas, you have to lose weight all over. Strength training and toning may make your arms firm up and seem like less of an issue, so you could try that route.

  • My putter isnt very cheery at all - my wedge is pretty social though, and I get great conversation from my #1 wood.
  • Sob! This is lovely - both you and Lilli were lucky to have each other. http://www.petloss.com/rainbowbridge.htm
  • I do log my Splenda calories, only because I have set up as one of "My Recipes" the way I make my tea or coffee - tea/coffee, 5 % cream or skim milk and 1 packet of Splenda. So 1 coffee is about 17 cals and one tea is about 11 cals, all inclusive and thats what I log.
