  • Thats what CICO supports - the idea that if you want to lose weight, your calories in have to be less than your calories out - so you restrict the number of calories you consume. And of course the converse is true - to gain, your calories consumed have to be more than the calories you expend. And thats what so many of us…
  • Its still a microwave OVEN, am I right?! No difference!!
  • Everyone is different and everyone has to find their own strategy, but honestly - it IS mental - you have to want to lose weight more than anything else in the world, because you have to be committed and focused on doing that one thing. For me, it was logging and using a food scale to discover what a "serving" was, and…
  • Tramadol hasnt affected me either and I am on both the slow release (Zytram) and the break through pain one (cant remember what its called) Been on them for a couple of years now, and have successfully lost 115 lbs on them. Sadly, it has no effect on my appetite - I can still win the gold medal for eating for Canada.
  • Just to be sure, have you been diagnosed with sciatica because you said you "think" thats what it is. Sciatica is a pain that starts in the middle of your buttock, goes down the back of your leg and wraps around to the front ending in your foot - at least that was what mine was and my therapist said those were "classic"…

  • Absolutely possible, and in fact, probably THE best way to do it! Just enter your stats into MFP, select that you want to maintain your weight, and then deduct 100 or 200 calories from that total to get a very small deficit, which should see you lose in the manner that you want.
  • If you store the all natural peanut butter upside down, you wont need to stir in the oil as much as it will rise to the top (which is the bottom of the jar when upside down).
  • I suffered too - for months. Went to physio, pills massage, chiro - nothing helped. It was crippling. Acupuncture - three sessions and it was GONE. Had a couple of flair ups, when back for a tune up to the therapist and its now completely abated. Seriously, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain - try it.

  • Although a great addition, exercise is not critical to losing weight - what you eat and the calories they contain are the thing. Its ok to eat "fast food" - make sensible choices and stick to your calorie budget. Under the circumstances, I think you can cut yourself a bit of slack and endure the trip with as little self…
  • Wrapping food in aluminum - no, its ok. http://www.alzheimer.ca/en/About-dementia/Alzheimer-s-disease/Risk-factors/Aluminum
  • Love aged cheddar - in my town, the Costco carries a Welsh cheddar that is just to die for. Gotta exercise restraint to not eat the whole block. With a pear, its heaven. And Brie and Camembert - oh my. Then there is goat with cranberry and nuts - shut up.
  • My hubby had his gallbladder removed a couple of years ago and also got the fatty foods talk. It hasnt stopped some of his less than desireable eating habits, and he hasnt suffered a bit. But everyone is individual - you may have to do some experimentation after surgery to discover what you can and cannot tolerate foodwise.
  • If you want to learn healthy habits while losing weight, I would suggest that you try building meals instead of relying on shakes or drinks for your nutrition. Are you going to drink shakes the rest of your life? So to answer your question, no I dont think you are EATING enough, because you are DRINKING your calories. You…
  • I have to track - I am not good at estimating or eyeballing and I can easily justify whatever it is I am eating by saying oh this is just a small piece/bite/portion/taste etc and then boom! - its all gone.
  • Jeepers, I dont think I would jump right in with brussel sprouts (I love them roasted too) as they can have a rather strong taste. What about grating some zucchini into pasta sauce, or into zucchini bread, or spiralizing some to use instead of pasta? Zuc has a mild flavour that takes on the taste of whatever it is being…
  • If you put your stats into MFP and tell it how much you want to lose per week (and dont say 2lbs per week unless you have 75 or more pounds to lose) then you will be given a number of calories per day to consume - say 1500. that 1500 calories is then your goal for each day, and it includes the deficit you need to lose…
  • Once you are on the right meds at the right dosage, you should be able to lose weight like anyone else. I have been on thyroid meds for 28 years, needed it tweaked from time to time, and over that time have been both the heaviest I have ever been and currently, the lightest I have ever been as an adult. Dont fall into the…
  • A lot of Chinese American food is loaded with sugar (and so calories) - sauces are big calorie bombs. Even something as simpole as chop suey can have a ton of sugar (and sodium) in it. But if these are not issues around which you have any concerns, just moderate portions and stick to the non breaded, grilled or steamed…
  • I have lost 115 lbs without intentional exercise - medical issues. I did swim last summer (and expect to do so again this summer) but I have never set foot in a gym, or done a single jumping jack or squat or whatever. I just cant. I am thinking of trying out yoga, though some positions will be impossible (cant kneel or…
  • Between 6 and 7pm.
  • I agree with some of the other posters when they report that a binge incident has actual physical symptoms - sweating, agitation, anxiety, nausea, mood changes - its not simply a matter of giving in to a particular food craving - its a lot more physical than that. I too have struggled with this and some days I come out on…
  • My thoughts for my situation are that truly, for me this is a lifestyle change. So there are no breaks. I have to be responsible and accountable for what and how much I eat for every single day of my life, and do it being mindful of my past history of overeating. I have been on this path since October 2015, steady, and…
  • Search this site for other slow cooker/crock pot recipes - lots of great ideas here from other users.
  • This is a different swiss roll than is pictured in the other thread? So did you eat 60% of two rolls? You are going to go to he'll of course.
  • This is up there on the list of "strangest myths about weight loss" that I have ever seen.
  • Just because you do not have a discharge does not mean that you are no longer having "a cycle". I am post menopausal, and still deal with ups and downs over the month. This is especially true if you regular cycle is being affected by medication.
  • I've lost over 115lbs, on average 2lbs per week in the last 18 months but I started at a rather high weight. Since dropping down, it has very much slowed down, and I have reset my goals to reflect 1 lb per week losses now. Some people say (my doctor) that I can ease up now and maintain, but I would like to lose maybe 10 or…
  • How big is "1 Loaf"? It would be helpful to weigh the loaf and divide by the number of servings/slices you want to get out of it and then calculate how many calories per slice.
