I think I know the answersbut just want to confirm:

-iron should not be taken with a calcium (dairy or supplement) because it inhibits iron absorption? How long before or after taking iron would it be best to avoid calcium?

-Vitamin C helps with iron absorption and they should be taking together?

Thank you in advance!

I take my calcium at night and the rest of my vitamins in the morning.

Okay I usually take my iron and vitamin C in the morning and my multivitamin (which is 4 pills-I still take a prenatal vitamin) before bed. Just worried about eating dairy/calcium too soon after the iron.

Yes, taking vitamin c does increase iron absorption while calcium inhibits it.

    Thank you!

One more potentially dumb question: are there any other vitamins I should avoid taking with the iron? Or just calcium?

They say not to drink coffee or black tea with any vitamin supplement... buts that's just picking at straws ☺️

I've also read that magnesium can inhibit iron absorption.

Good to know. I don't take additional magnesium, just what is in the multi vitamin, so already taking hat at a separate time than the iron.

And of course there is the caution about taking meds with grapefruit juice.

I'm already on a medication that can not be taken with grapefruit/grapefruit juice so I don't eat/drink it at all.
